- Keeping a hamster from becoming bored can sometimes be a challenge especially when you've already provided them with the largest cage possible and a deep substrate, so I give some tips and ideas to help!

We hear so much about you from our 10 year old, she will go to the pet store to buy toys for her hamster but she’s always saying Victoria Raechel says you can use this, don’t use that, you can’t do that. We finally got her a hamster for her because she was absolutely obsessed with hamsters and is really responsible. She got a hamster ball as a birthday present but wanted to return it. When the clerk asked why we were returning the ball she told him that because Victoria Raechel says it’s not safe for him and that you knew all about them. He tried to convince her that it was safe but she wouldn’t budge. I looked at the clerk and told him she’s a new hamster mom and she is super protective. She even had me measure her cage and has to look up everything before he’s given anything. she’s always looking up your video on RUclips to see if it’s safe. 😆

just upgraded my hamster's cage to 660sq inches and he's still kind of inactive even at nighttime, hope it's just from old age and not boredom

I think some hamsters r just more active then others. I had a hamster who didn't like wheels and wouldn't come out that much but that was just him, he had 800sq and he still preferred to sleep. He was happy and healthy tho. But I also had a hamster who would barely sleep and all she would do was wiz around the cage and run on her wheel. So I'm sure there is nothing to worry about :)

I don’t even think u understand how helpful you are to me, I just recently got a hamster and I am using all of your tips and honestly trying my best to do almost exactly what you do (my hamster acts different then yours). I also just love to watch your videos in general. Mainly when doing chores and cleaning my hamster’s, Daisy’s, wheel, food dish, or water bottle. I just love your videos, something about them just brings me happiness!

Yes same with me! My hamster never really wanted to see me, but I followed her tips on how to get him to trust me and now he wants to see me 😁
I also did a boredom breaker i tought myself, you just take plain, non coloured and scentless toilet paper,roll it out and place either treats or their seed mix on the paper, roll it up press it up, cover it with as much toilet paper as you like and give it to your hamster and watch them chew through the paper and find the entrance to the treats or seed mix :D

My hamster always used to do the first thing on her own. She would literally drag her toys all around the cage like she was rearranging her room. It was hilarious 😂

the buckwheat paste is such a STEAL ! it saves so much money & time from buying those seed logs and sticks from the stores

My hamster Fluffy died peacefully yesterday evening due to old age aged 1year 10months..it was a terrible feeling😭..but he lived a long life, and I'm happy that I could give him proper and the best care I could!

Now I adopted 2 winter white dwarfs named Hope and precious .you have helped me learn how to care for my hamsters properly . This is awesome! I'm putting together a proper care guide and getting information for my son's class for their class hamster. I have a 40-gallon tank ready, as well as wood shavings (kiln-dried) and some driftwood stuff. All of this stuff is AWESOME to know! Half and half. I've seen people suggest it before. Sounds like a good way of keeping a bit more an eye on the diet. You could even fish out your hamsters favourite bits to scatter, and have the things they like least in the bowl

I didn't know that my cage was too small, Twilight would bite on the bars and lost hair above her nose :( We have aquariums I can use! Now I know it was an act of boredom and I don't want my hamster to be bored. I love how educational and helpful your videos Victoria! Thank you! I've been keeping tp tubes for a long time for crafts and as dog toys(put treats inside and close the ends). Being good for our new pet hamsters is awesome lol

Thanks haha! I use willow branches with the leaves, herbs, orchard grass hay and natural moss those would be all the green things in there.
Victoria Raechel you probably won’t reply or even see this but i was wondering where you get your herbs and the orchard grass hay and the moss because i’m staying to make a natural enclosure for my hamsters and i can’t find any of the stuff that you use.
i scatter feed half of my hamsters food, and put the other half in her food bowl so that i know she is still eating. :)

This video helps out so much! Mostly because I was having a hard time thinking of things to entertain my hamster. But she seems really happy about her new toys I bet this will keep her entertained for awhile.
My hamster Ruby will normally come out around 1-3 am. And I am asleep around then so I don't get the chance to play with her that often. That's why I try to entertain her as much as I can also today was the first time I have seen her in a few days because she comes out so late, I missed her. She is very tamed. Even if I don't play with her all that often. She is so cute! By far the pickiest hamster I have had.😂

What i do is get a big plastic container, make sure to anti back it with pet safe spray, then fill it up with the usuals, put the small hamster cage inside the big container so my hamster has alot to explore and borrow

I just got my hamster Cheetoh and he seems very occupied and happy! He runs in his wheel, (a big one so his back dosnt bend) he has a large bin cage, nice toys, and nice food!

I hope they enjoy it! Higgins by itself isn't enough protein and for mealworms to to be a protein booster you'd need to calculate everything properly to make sure you're putting enough. Mixing higgins sunburst with a high protein pellet is best.

I was always skeptical of your advise cuz I thought there wasn’t much to taking care of a hamster, but I’ve followed what you’ve said and my hamster has given me more love than I thought possible thank!
My hamster died a few days ago :( I now have 2 new Syrian hamsters who do not enjoy the toys my last hamster did so theses are perfect.
(The Syrians are in separate cages above the minimum)
