I miss when apocalypse movies used to have that razor edge in eerie paranoia vs. just a bunch of predictable jump scares and horde riots. 28 Days later was a seriously terrifying movie universe where the acting was so intense and believable that I lost my bed time
To me, 28 days is probably my favourite film of all time. It really was the trigger for my love of zombies and it redefined the genre into what it is today. I haven’t been as excited as I am for a film like 28 years later in years.
The film looking grainy, dirty, and rough was a style choice cause they wanted the film to have a found footage, grungy, realistic vibe to it. A lot of that horror holds solid because of this too! Amazing film!
I remember watching this on VHS when I was 7 and being absolutely terrified the whole time and even having nightmares, but I just couldn't stop watching it. Still my absolutel favorite film to this day.
It's sooooo grainy. Re-watched it a few years back and was kinda horrified at myself for not really noticing when I saw it at the cinema the first time.
Really glad you watched this movie. It's always been and probably always will be one of my favorite movies. Danny Boyle and Alex Garland do incredible work together. Check out Sunshine. The cast alone is insane
What I love about it, from my snobbish side, is the Theme of Rage and its relationship to Mankind. Film literally starts showing scenes of rage filled Violence committed by Uninfected men. The Colonel talks about the 4 weeks before infection and the 4 weeks before that and seeing only Men killing men over rage and hatred and bigotry. The soldiers show the Rage of Sexual Frustration and lack of rules and law. Selena uses Rage to survive up until she meets Frank and Hannah and shows the brutality of human rage in dealing with a sick person. Jim gets ignored by the infected and semi-accepted even by Jones when he goes on a Rage Filled killing spree and acts like and does what an infected Jim would have done and that is because Rage unfiltered is more frightening in a Human than what we see with the Infected. We only ever see the Infected kill Bad people. Then you had the American influence with the sequel which had no themes or philosophy and was just another zombie film with the infected acting like zombies with absolutely illogical choices
Spot on! I remember when I first saw this movie, it def had me surprised after watching how good it was & just so different compared to what we had up to that point.
Better by which parameters exactly? Zombie movies have totally different tones even though they share the same horror element. You can prefer another zombie movie. To give you an example, there's no way to compare Zombieland with this movie for example. They both have zombies, but are completely different tonally speaking. Whichever you prefer is purely subjective. Another example would be WWZ and Dawn of the dead remake. Even though both share the fact zombie types. They're very different from each other in everything else.
Yeah….. I don’t get this….. within context…. The zombie genre was dead(no pun intended) in the 90s….. it wasn’t until the Resident Evil Games brought it back within the gaming subculture…. The 28 Days Later and Resident Evil(regardless how you feel about the movie) movies were the ones that brought the Zombie Genre Back. Heck even the Dawn of the Dead remake a couple of years later “borrowed” the running zombie thing…..
0:28 That's not a radioactive symbol, its a biohazard symbol.

Glad you are going to discuss older films. Great review.

Like 28 years🫡
28 days/weeks later are the best zombie films ever!
I LOVED 28 WEEKS LATER Renner and Perrineau’s friendship carried the film.
I still can't believe 28 Years Later was shot entirely with a bunch of adapted iPhones. The trailer looks incredible.

Saw 28 Days in theaters as a kid. Glad to hear it’s still a harrowing experience. The GOAT of the genre.
I remember watching this on VHS when I was 7 and being absolutely terrified the whole time and even having nightmares, but I just couldn't stop watching it. Still my absolutel favorite film to this day.
I was 6 when i first watched it. Whole movie freaked me out but the scene where Jim met Mailard scared tf out of me
It's sooooo grainy. Re-watched it a few years back and was kinda horrified at myself for not really noticing when I saw it at the cinema the first time.
The magic of the theatre experience I guess
Love the idea of you exploring older movies you haven’t seen bro. Good stuff.
Bro can't believe your now watching this gem....absolutely love this movie....walked dead took inspiration from this
Fantastic story, fantastic acting, and an excellent soundtrack.
28 days later is a brilliant film. Fantastic story and great actors. . It's one of my favourite Zombie Apocalypse movie
28 Days Later is excellent.
28 Weeks... Had it's moments...
Really glad you watched this movie. It's always been and probably always will be one of my favorite movies. Danny Boyle and Alex Garland do incredible work together. Check out Sunshine. The cast alone is insane
Sunshine is AWESOME
It's not a radioactive symbol, sweetie. It's the biohazard symbol. Also, seeing this in theaters was an absolute experience.
Biohazard was the word I was looking for, I'm not stoopid I swear!
I have a 28 days Later DVD, it's from 2005. Brought it from a flea market not the easiest movie to find for some reason.

I didn't know the same guy is doing the music for the super man movie. That IS exciting!
So where can we watch it?
Spot on! I remember when I first saw this movie, it def had me surprised after watching how good it was & just so different compared to what we had up to that point.
I attend a movie club where we watch older movies mostly. I thoroughly enjoyed Repo Man. If you're looking for older movie with charm. Its great
The best one 👍👍👍👍
What a great movie.
Ha! One of my all time favorites!…. It’s biggest sin along with Dog Soldiers is the use of crappy video in order to shoot the film….
You’re late to the party ⌚️⌚️⌚️⌚️
28 weeks later not so much
28 Weeks has a few great moments, but... It's okay.
I watched it and thought it was okay for a zombie/dystopian movie, there's just better ones.
There are better but this is definitely unique!
