I am curious. Why do you prefer Cassettes to CDs?

This is a great question and there are lots of answers. The short answer in this context is that cassette collecting is an integral part of the Dungeon Synth subculture, so it's the format that made sense for this release and this video series.
My subjective answer, however, is that different formats are good for different projects and different visions. CD is one of my least favorite formats, since it's just a digital recording of the song that is stored on a device that requires other devices to play back the sound. Now that the amount of digital storage offered on a CD is kind of laughable (we can fit multiple songs in an email these days), the format feels more obsolete than even an LP or a cassette to me. I'd rather just have the digital files on my phone or computer. I think Cassettes are a format that's great for a cohesive album that's designed to be listened to as a side a/b and not as a collection of singles. I feel similarly about LPs. Both feel like they encourage you to listen to the whole album instead of just your favorite track. Having said that, I love streaming formats and digital media for other reasons. I think there's a benefit to planning the format as part of the creative direction of the release as early as possible in the process. Man, now I wanna make a vlog video about this.

Great answer! I've been listening to online Dungeon Synth for several years now. I should have guessed that cassette collecting was intrinsic element of Dungeon Synth. Cassettes and albums are certainly more organic than CD's. That said, I've been collecting CD's for a long time. If I had my druthers, I would cast a spell and turn it all into vinyl.

@@JohnnyRecently Vinyl is def my favorite physical format because it has the long-form encouragement and a large surface area to display art. I got rid of my CD collection years ago and I still don't regret it.
