Thank you. I'm not entirely sure what you are asking. But you can always play the video again, slow it down, and pause it. I don't plan to do another video about the worldbuilder soon I'm afraid, and i have pretty much covered all there is to it. Perhaps if you have a more specific question?
@@SecondTierSound How can I put a whole tekst in THE right place in my daw? In THE video you mention something About a learnfuction . THE daw should always know in Woche part THE words has to be played. Is That correct?
@@SecondTierSound Thank you for your support. I Will try And see how things work out tis way. Always learning from your Nice work….. Kind regards, Obrecht Beelen. Witteveen. NL
I have the Symphonic Choirs. It does a job and yes, there’s better out there, but it still comes in useful. Also, I could make a cover of Deapool 2: Juggernaut Song…. Listen to it (It definitely isn’t a recipe Lol).
Thank you very much for your video! Very good tutorial! I'm trying EW Hollywood Choirs for the first time and I'm experiencing a problem with OPUS and this library, because when I select the WB instrument (doesn't matter if Men or Women) it's hard to change the desired mics in the Mixes section, because a multi instrument of 14 instances is loaded and only one of them is affected by the Mic changes. It should be ideal that the Mix affects all of the slots, not only the selected one. I think this was the way it works with Play and in my opinion, a lot better for now.
Thank you. To be honest, I haven't tried the mics with the choir, but it doesn't surprise me this is a problem. I've noticed Opus still has a few minor issues. I would make sure you have the latest update, let EW know about the problem if it persists, and finally select each articulation (when loaded into worldbuilder) and change the mic manually, and then save it as your own multi patch, naming after the mic. Not a great solution but at least you would only have to do it once.
Thanks a lot for creating these videos. Through subscription I have all of their libraries at my fingertips, which is great of course. Regarding the wordbuilder, I only recently noticed, that different vowels and consonants are on different channels. This sometimes creates strange sounds, because e.g. in HBS some voices interpret the vowels or consonants differently, so while on key sings an m. another key doesn't react the same and sings a different consonant. Also it seems, that some of the channels don't have the reverb on, but sound "naked", which leads to strange sounds. Not really easy to get words sound realistically. I sometimes use VOCALOIDs, which are Solo Voices, but they can sing quite real. Unfortunately they only have one dynamic. Also RELAITONE "BLUE" Solo library has a word-/phrase-builder, which sounds astonishingly well.
Muchisimas gracias!!!Vivo en espana . Hollywood choir esta mas recomendado para Iglesia .La tarjeta de sonido esta de Steinberg tambien??Que Dios les bendiga!!!@
It uses the Opus engine, so not kontakt. But the library comes with the engine. I am sure you can load any engine in sibelius, but I don't know if you would be able to use the functions of the library well in Sibelius as it does better in a DAW. Cheers!
Great video! I love how you presented this one. The intro was hilariously entertaining. Keep up the good work. I learned a bunch from your review on the word builder. It makes me want to start back up with the EW choirs again.
Hey Sam, Nice video and in general you are my go to guy for orchestral information, instant subscriber here! I just bought EW Hollywood Choirs but it just doesnt do any of the keyswitches or text editor commands to switch from sustain staccato. I did try everything you show here in this video. So I email them and the person who helped me said there are no keyswitches in Hollywood choir, Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy to help! So I send them a link of this video as a proof that there is a keyswitch function it's just not a KS Patch like their other instruments, do you maybe have a suggestion about this drama?
Well, it seems like they are caught with specific words. THERE ARE keyswitches absolutely, but not in the way they normally have "keyswitch patches" that you can modify. And then only Hollywood Choir can do this, the others can't And, maybe see it as a function in the text editor that can also be controlled with specific keys. Silly EastWest...
Morning, maybe this is a dumb question but how does all this work with BPM? I mean there must be a BPM so that the voices stay in synch and in key? I haven't found any reference to this as yet? Maybe I have the wrong idea but any advice would be gratefully received.....well cool video though, I love Ice Cream.....
Hello! Great question. As long as you write midi notes in time you're going to be in synch with the wordbuilder, as the midi notes follow your DAWs tempo. The prerecorded phrases, on the other hand, are not time synched.
Have you seen/encounter Issue where you press a single key of the keyboard and MANY voices come out of the software AND some of them are "saying/singing" the phrase in the word builder AND other voices are just saying things like "ehh/ahh" making the whole phrase impossible to understand?
I have the musicxml file and the midi file is in a track in Reaper. I open Opus multi word builder and i can play the keys in opus and hear words, but I can not mix what I am doing in word builder with the midi file in Reaper. I do not use a keyboard . . I export my midi file from finale ... using musicxml format to get a more acurate representation of what I have composed by hand. SO can anyone tell me how to produce the sounds and lyrics in reaper ?
Very helpful as always Sam... and more useful than what EastWest seem to put out there.I'm currently checking out Hollywood Backup Singers on a free subscrition for a month. In order to compare, where would you advise me to look?
Even though this choir is supposed to be able to sound like a few languages, it mostly ends up sounding foreign... But I've noticed that turning down certain consonants in the mixer can help que a bit.
@@SecondTierSound I've just started experimenting with it, and it is quite astonishing, once you get your head around the phonetics. I can never make out the lyrics a choir is singing anyway, so as long as it's close to the libretto that should be good enough. But yeah, I've noticed that the translation from English seems to be pretty haphazard, and much tinkering is needed.
That's the thing about this choir. It is a really cool concept, and it works, but you need to work it quite a bit. But, i have on quite a few occasions used it really successfully when i needed a choir singing a specific phrase that could be heard.
Great video! But the "Learn" function does not work for me. I reset the position in word builder and I hit learn, I start the melody (in the Daw). The word builder has exactly the same number of syllables with the notes of the melody. But, later when I start playback from somewhere in the middle of the melody, the function does not remember what syllable was on what note. Am I doing something wrong?
I've not encountered this problem, but I've noticed that the engine isn't always totally hassle-free. I normally only write all the all the syllables when i know exactly what I will write and then bounce the track.
The only way i found to play melismas is by writing like Ha a a le ju u a. Can you explain again wich is the menu for i can hold a key to prolong a vowel? Maybe is about my english . I guess this word builder is the most successful and advanced feature EW shows the market at all, i wish they do not stop working on it. I miss already being able to automate the text, but it looks there is a “work around for it” since they did inteligently separate channels for word/silbs. Probably they integrate this even better very soon
It is a little tricky. You have to go into options, then events, and then select a cc controller to both on and off, on hold syllable. I find this quite cumbersome and I just write out the syllables instead, as long as I need them, as you showed in the example.
@@SecondTierSound i know this, but i cant know what is what i my midi controler, unless i learn all buttons. I cant open the software that is meant to set the cc. I can and used logic pro environment, but desist to do this for every project or import layers. I buy a new one, or wait for an update. But in Opus i can change the cc, you are right. I guess i tried this vowel thing in the stand alone version, as my Logic Pro did not open because of the MOnterey update. But now i solved the issue and can test this remap again. I should remap the vowels to piano pedal. BUt another thing you are right: it is good to writee the txt after, have saved texts. The rest i need to test, i still did not used choirs properly, since is the most especial thing for me. Choirs are there to say something especial.
I recently purchased the TEC3 bundle (Hollywood Choirs, Hollywood Orchestra, and Fantasy Orchestra). Audio Plugin Deals is now offering Symphonic Orchestra and Symphonic Choirs bundled together for 129 USD. Is it worth it to get those or would that be wasted money since I already have HC and HO?
@@SecondTierSound Thanks for the reply (and super-fast!). I was leaning that way after watching the video, but it's nice to have confirmation from someone who has actually used the products. Me and my wallet thank you :)
I've downloaded the plug-in... Demoed it.. can't seem to hear them well. I've spent 3 hours in this plug-in. I've removed the "plugins" reverb, but the vocals still have reverb in the recording. I've tried to use their phrases and mine ..I can't seem to get them to say pronounce anything that others would possibly hear.
All recordings have a natural reverb. Completely dry is impossible unless you have a reverbless chamber, which is mostly not desired for all kinds of reasons. This instrument needs some work. Hopefully the video will help you to get started.
@@SecondTierSound It's a large learning curve. I'm now finally getting to understand that I need to adjust the time editor to make the words sound better.
If your creating a religious theme... You type Satan in the English converter... You get "sEita" which sounds better if you make it "sEitan" then adjust the time editor. It wouldn't cuss for me either... The "F" word has to be spelled "Fak" and make adjustments to the time editor so the F is 50ms, a is 500ms, k is 25 Ms behind a. The a also starts loud and goes immediately to nothing at the end. It's going to take a long time to create each word needed for a song. This isn't going to be a quick thing .. The sounds are probably also incorrect because I'm American English and the words of English sound like European English.
I find that the Hollywood choir's volume level differs drastically from note to note. Is there an easy way to balance the sound levels, or is that just how it is?
I think you are right. It depends on the combination. I often adjust the volume. You have to work at it a bit to get a good result. I use it when I need a specific phrase because no other library can do it, but it means work. When the words are not important, i use other libraries.
aE just does not get me "i" when I use Wordbuilder. Probably the misbehaviours you mention. Anyone got another way of getting the "i" ("eye") sound...?
How to make the word builder sing the phrases over existing midi melody? It sounds ah and oh. It only sings the melody if you type it from scratch or if you play it on the midi controller keyboard...
I'm afraid i don't understand the question. The choir can work on any midi data. You have to type in phrases in the worldbuilder if you want it to sing words, otherwise it will be only the articulation you have loaded.
@@SecondTierSound let me explain, I write music on guitar pro 7, then I export midi the vocals to reaper and I load EW Hollywood choirs. The notes in the piano roll are there but when I hit play the choir does not sing. But when i input an new note in the piano roll it does. Why? It's impossible to rewrite all these notes again...
There can be many reasons. For example, make sure there are no other midi data interfering, or control changes. Make sure cc1 and cc11 are on and up, also make sure the range is correct. Too high, or too low, you won't hear anything
@@SecondTierSound the are in the correct range because when I place new notes in the piano roll, on the same height, there is sound. But there's no sounds from the midi imported notes. How can I check the rest of what you said? By the way, let me grab this opportunity to thank you for all your videos, they are extremely professional and helpful, like masterclass seminars but free! You are amazing in all of them as well as an excellent composer! Keep up the good work!
Thank you your kind words. Well, if it is the dynamic control it depends a little on the DAW you are using, but enter the midi editor, or key editor and look for dynamics and expression, and make sure they are not lowered. Also make sure the sustain pedal isn't engaged. It normally is when using the piano. All this can also be found in automation on some DAWs.. If you have a midi controller with a mod wheel, just wiggle it, and push it all the way up. Also make sure the volume is on obviously. If that doesn't work, there might be other midi data interfering. You might look for a command that resets all midi control data, if you have something like that.
This video seriously changed my life. Thank you, Obi Wan.
May the force be with you😀

The first midi note will trigger the first word in the worldbuilder. When you have entered the text, use the learn function
@@SecondTierSound Thank you for your support. I Will try And see how things work out tis way. Always learning from your Nice work….. Kind regards,
Obrecht Beelen. Witteveen. NL
I have the Symphonic Choirs. It does a job and yes, there’s better out there, but it still comes in useful. Also, I could make a cover of Deapool 2: Juggernaut Song…. Listen to it (It definitely isn’t a recipe Lol).
Sure, would be nice to hear
@@SecondTierSound Thank you! Yes, I will try to contact to East West, but for sure they are already aware about this.
Don't use the reverb in Opus. It is better to use your own for the entire channel. You save s lot of resources and will have less sound problems.
@@SecondTierSound thanks for your answer.
I'll try, how that changes the disturbing sounds.
Can you use these in Fruity Loops? How does it work. I’ve been wanting to try these for a while now.
Hilarious Intro!
🤣🤣
Muchisimas gracias!!!Vivo en espana . Hollywood choir esta mas recomendado para Iglesia .La tarjeta de sonido esta de Steinberg tambien??Que Dios les bendiga!!!@
Gracias! Si, la tarjeta se llama UR242, y es de Steinberg (Yamaha).
Orchestra esta de East West ?❤❤❤❤
Si
Great Video!! Thanks!!! Its works with Sibelius or Kontakt? Thank so much!!
Thank you. It was fun. I hope to create more like this one in the future
Wow! I plan to buy the Hollywood Choir, I was thinking if it is possible to use EastWest Voices of Passion with the Hollywood Wordbuilder? Thank you
Not as far as I know. Voices of passion are phrases and solo legatos, no worldbuilder.
So I send them a link of this video as a proof that there is a keyswitch function it's just not a KS Patch like their other instruments,
do you maybe have a suggestion about this drama?
Well, it seems like they are caught with specific words. THERE ARE keyswitches absolutely, but not in the way they normally have "keyswitch patches" that you can modify. And then only Hollywood Choir can do this, the others can't And, maybe see it as a function in the text editor that can also be controlled with specific keys.
Silly EastWest...
the legato sounds slightly smoother between the transitions
Yes perhaps. It is quite subtle
That intro! Hahaha, nice!
Cheers!
I love how this started lol 😂
7:59 That's actually a slurred, sliding legato, not a short staccato.
god i love this.
When in the word editor, how to play the sounds in the DAW? How to add to automation timeline?
I hope the first question is answered in the video. The second, you have to be a bit more specific about.
Three years old. Is this library still relevant or are the better "wordbuilders" out now? Ai choirs?
Haha! Love that Video!
Cheers!
I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean. The subscription? You mean comparing to other similar libraries? I'm afraid I don't know.
Can't wait to apply this to my Hollywood Backup Singers and Hollywood Choir. Haləˈlo͞oyə!
Great! 😊
I love how the choir at the start sings English words with a German (?) accent! lol
@@SecondTierSound We live in an age of wonders!
Prrofessional de verdad❤❤❤
Gracias!
which you spent more time with the backup singers one, though!
They work the same way, just a different sound.
@@SecondTierSound At this moment my controler is way too medieval: i cant change the cc. BUt looks possible.... Thx very much!
Medieval hehe... Well, you don't have to change the controller itself, but just tell opus how you will control it. You can change the cc in opus.
Choirs are there to say something especial.
my cc is FAd9 , good options, but i bought used without the software. My mistake.
What an intro 😂
I laughed my ass off!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Although they have a little different sound, I don't think you need that bundle, as the one you have is better, in my mind
@@SecondTierSound Thanks a lot for the reply! (and the video)
aE just does not get me "i" when I use Wordbuilder. Probably the misbehaviours you mention. Anyone got another way of getting the "i" ("eye") sound...?
"ai" I think works
You might look for a command that resets all midi control data, if you have something like that.
what's the best place to buy this in europe & uk?
