I dont share the opinion of most people here. Horns and trombones are good, but not excellent. The sound is a bit cold. Sound Quality is rather griddy than clear and brilliant. In recordings, the brass has much top end, which sounds crisp and clear always. In sample library, only few can deliver that brilliant high frequencies , and if they do, the rest of the library is not usable. Very sad! As for the trombones, these are some of the best sampled trombones i heard so far ! Great review!

I recently purchased the TEC3 bundle (Hollywood Choirs, Hollywood Orchestra, and Fantasy Orchestra). Audio Plugin Deals is now offering Symphonic Orchestra and Symphonic Choirs bundled together for 129 USD. Is it worth it to get those or would that be wasted money since I already have HC and HO?

I bought this library because of your review. It's a good review except it strangely leave out one of the most important things, there are no sustained patches that respond to keyboard velocity. To not mention that is......disturbing. To me this makes the library unplayable. If playing is something you rely on this library makes any polyphonic playing with individual amplitude voicing or voicing cords with your fingers impossible. It's so musicaly limiting. I can't understand why you left that out. Im now holding my breath to se If I can get a refund.......................

Orchestral Tools and Spitfire are my fav too . Ohhh god, Joshua Bell, for me it's the most alive-sounding VST sampled so far.

I feel a quality sample harp (and timpani) library is neglected in general. I'm looking for a great harp. While I like Berlin Harps, VSL appears to have gone the distance. I'm looking forward to including this harp sound set into my sonic world. I'll also have to check out their timpani library, as well. I'll also have to check if you did a review on the VSL timpani, too:)

Thanks for this review. I just love this thing. I paid the standalone price for it several months ago, and I don’t regret it. The sounds are gorgeous and oh so phat. I own several great soft synths, and I can do my own sound design, but here is a collection of very usable, high-quality sounds designed to fulfil specific compositional functions. The creators of this software have sampled a multitude of iconic physical synthesizers, picking only great sounding patches. It is true that you don’t get a full range of adjustability, but that is not the point of this instrument. You can hook up several of the modulation parameters to MIDI controls to enable morphing the sound over time in very interesting ways, and the arpeggiator is a great addition, but the basic sounds themselves come from samples, not from direct synthesis. I don’t care. Forbidden Planet sounds amazing.

I've always wanted this. It's now on sale for a mad price but in the meantime i got myself the choir from Orchestral Tools "Tallin". Not sure now whether buying this too would make sense.

I can understand the use of this reverb for solo instruments, but how does it make sense to place ensembles at a specific point in the room?

Very good review. Got this library, don't like the clean sound (string machine?). Even when I use mid or close mics, I don't feel the soul of the SSS and don't smell the sweat of the BBCs.

There do seem to be some good sounds there (based on several videos I've seen; I don't own it), but the fact that you're stuck with the presets and cannot choose your own A and B layers is a big disadvantage. That price is a huge disadvantage, too. I can definitely understand why EastWest has given it away with Hollywood Orchestra and their newer products several times this year.

Very good, balanced review. Their instruments are really great for certain usecases where you need a lot of control over the performance, but don't have real players. The one downside in my opinion is the relatively high price to value ratio. I know it's not apples to apples comparison, but in terms of value - just compare it to what some other vendors, like Spectrasonics get you for similar prices, and I use those daily. If it gets a 40-50% discount sale, I would probably get the whole bundle, but at these prices it's just not there yet in terms of value for me. I think the next big thing is going to be AI modelled instruments, that are trained on real performance samples of instruments. with optimized models, run on high end Nvidia RTX graphics cards. That would indeed be revolutionary and much closer to the real thing, but don't know if it is being worked on yet.

Thank you for the video. Don't think for a second that Spitfire will update their libraries. They very rarely if EVER put out updates. That's why I don't use them that much. I have about 15 of their libraries and I don't think I have ever seen an update worth speaking about.

Hi. Thanks for the review. I couldn't find the basic spec of how many notes are sampled. Are all 88 keys individually sampled? Did they sample each key when sustain pedal is held in all dynamic layers or they are emulated? How many layers of dynamics did they sample? Does it support half-pedaling? or post key hit pedaling? Morning, maybe this is a dumb question but how does all this work with BPM? I mean there must be a BPM so that the voices stay in synch and in key? I haven't found any reference to this as yet? Maybe I have the wrong idea but any advice would be gratefully received.....well cool video though, I love Ice Cream.....

Are you having trouble with samples loading in the evo plugin? Play something in, save it with the plugin closed, then close your DAW and open the project and see if the samples will play. Spitfire are aware of the problem and admit it's a fault at their end, but are reluctant to address the situation. The samples will load if you save and open with the evo plugin open. Great review by the way.
