Firefly didn't have a bow gunner or anyone in that position.
They retained the hatch for 2 reasons.
    1. They were conversions of 75mm Sherman's, who did have that crewman.
And 2. That position was used for stowage, notably ammunition. The hatch allowed access. In fact some of the rounds stored within that ammo rack could only be accessed through that hatch.

Ha! I put the sandguards on mine, I think they look really nice, but that's just me. Nonetheless, great review!

Hello from Scotland, I'm new to your channel, and loving your videos of armour modelling. Thanks to you I'll be looking to buying some warlord and Rubicon kits, especially for British tanks. I buy plastic kits by the usual culprits, but your videos have convinced me to splash out on these manufacturers as I'm no rivet counter either...but really impressed with these kits.....so keep up the good work sir. Toodle pip.

It must be Firefly week. I just built the Firefly plastic kit expansion for the TANKs game. It is a nice kit, same as the kit Battlefront use for Flames of War. But much MUCH smaller than the one you built!

I think the part you called a pisol port is a hatch for loading the 17pdr ammunition. Bit too big for a port for pistols

      Tim Nicholson it did both.
Main purpose was a pistol port though.

It is a shell loading hatch, standard for all Shermans.

the box on the back is to hold the radio to keep it from getting smashed

I know that Warlord and co. use Renendra in the UK for their plastics.

I don't think there was ever a hull gunner anyway - 5:32 I think the driver operated the hull machine gun (correct me if im wrong)

There was on a regular Sherman. I think he might have been known as a co-driver.

The hull machine gun was deleted on the Firefly as was the machine gunner/radio operator. The space was used for ammo storage.
Edit: Beaten to it by Kirothe Avenger

Memory serving there's not actually anyone sitting in the position that used to belong to the machine gunner on the Firefly, since the gun was removed they reduced the crew by one and used his station as extra stowage space.

Right, the loader was also the radio operator, 17pdr's ammo was bigger than 75's so they needed more space. It's a beautiful model, I remember the old Matchbox.

Note: The guy on the radio calls the ithers just "nob team" when his tank has been knocked out.

Beware the carpet monster for it doth consume one's dropped little bits, never to be seen again.
For some reason I cant help thinking it looks like a super sized PSC kit.The way the tracks go together, the hatch coversetc look very like the 2omm versions i built a while back.

It does look an awful lot like a scaled up PSC firefly with a couple of errors fixed.BTW The 'inner' box on the turret rear is for the radio and the 'bendy hoop things' on the hull are points to allow the tank to be lifted.
