anche nelle opere minori verdi e' straordinario e Bergonzi sempre interprete attento e puntuale si dira' che e'un baritono,pero' ha imparato a cantare da tenore,possiede una tecnica perfetta e ha cantato fino a settant'anni grazie proprio alla tecnica. il brano dell'Oberto e' bellissimo, specie la seconda aria, che potrebbe benissimo stare in un'opera celeberrima verdi stupisce sempre
I like this aria so much.Bergonzi was singing it so good but my first place undoubtly belongs to Barry Morell,beautiful American tenor,much underrated,who sang it genially and finished on the top note.His voice was full of warmth,amazing colour and lirico-spinto.I hope somebody will upload him on video.Anyway,Carlo is superb in this concert!!!
Just saw Oberto at the Verdi Festival in Bussetto - wished the tenor had sounded one third as good. Had dinner at Bergonzi's son Marco's restaurant I Due Foscari. Bergonzi is running master clases there and attempts to pass on his knowledge but god they just don't make voices like this anymore.
Peccato per quell'errore nel recitativo! Il direttore avrebbe dovuto assecondare il tenore ma ha anticipato la cadenza ( 1:31 ). Per il resto, l'esecuzione di Bergonzi mi sembra troppo pesante.

La stessa aria Bergonzi l'ha cantata decisamente meglio in altre occasioni e in maniera più scorrevole.

Sorry, over cover, everything too technical, 'senza core' sounded the same in everything he sang. No question, very dependable singer
