  • What Happened to iShowSpeed? #neurology Cluster headaches are excruciatingly painful and mysterious headaches that occur in cyclical patterns or clusters. Although their exact cause is not fully understood, certain factors are believed to contribute to their occurrence. One theory suggests that abnormalities in the hypothalamus, a part of the brain that regulates the body's internal clock, may play a role in triggering these intense headaches. Additionally, changes in serotonin levels and blood flow to the brain have been associated with cluster headaches. These headaches are often described as a searing, stabbing pain on one side of the head, typically around the eye or temple area. The pain can be so severe that it leads to restlessness and agitation in the affected individual. The clusters can last from weeks to months, followed by periods of remission. Individuals with a family history of cluster headaches may be more susceptible to experiencing them, indicating a possible genetic component. Certain lifestyle factors, such as smoking and alcohol consumption, have also been linked to an increased risk of developing cluster headaches. #ClusterHeadaches #MigraineAlternative #HeadacheCycles #NeurologicalPain #HypothalamusAbnormalities #SerotoninLevels #SevereHeadaches #OneSidedPain #ExcruciatingPain #GeneticComponent #FamilyHistory #BloodFlowToBrain #Restlessness #PainAroundEye #TemplePain #LifestyleTriggers #SmokingAndHeadaches #AlcoholAndHeadaches #PainfulCycles #MysteriousHeadaches #ResearchNeeded #fyp #fypシ #interesting #healthcare #medicine #medicineexplained

    • @dotcassilles1488
      @dotcassilles1488 9 месяцев назад +11

      Sorry but Migraines can be just as bad as cluster headaches. Any pain condition experienced in our head can vary in intensity and duration. For example I suffer with migraines and chronic pain from my trigeminal nerves and jaw joints being damaged in an accident in 1999, my dads nerves in his scalp and face were damaged by shingles, etc. There are conditions that used to be called trigeminal neuralgia that cause chronic pain as well.
      Migraines, cluster headaches, shingles damage, TMJD and trigeminal neuralgia all affect the fascial/cranial nerves. They can all cause severe chronic disabling pain and can vary in the intensity and duration of a "flareup" of symptoms. They all can badly affect a person's mental health. I know because my chronic pain from TMJD triggered my first bipolar spectrum disorder episode and at one point spiralled me down into a deep suicidal depression.
      So while migraines and cluster headaches are different diagnoses they can cause the same pain intensity, in the same part of the head/face/brain. It is the other side effects and duration that really helps doctors to decide what diagnosis you receive. It's easy to be misdiagnosed and then for diagnosis to be changed or added the longer you suffer the chronic pain.

      You can choose to be offended by my comment because you have Custer headaches.
      I could choose to be offended that you are minimising my pain, but what does being offended do that's useful for me. It doesn't help me to feel better so instead I will choose to do something that I find helpful: I will explain some of what I deal with daily and hope you understand that it sucks that we both have pain and I wish it could just go away or be managed better so we can live and thrive. I feel I'm existing rather than surviving or living, how about you?
      You have no idea the amount of pain I have suffered from the damage done to me in 1999 by someone who was meant to help. I am never without pain (even when I was on a stronger dose of fentanyl patches I still had pain 24/7). The only things for me that change are the intensity of the pain and the other symptoms I experience alongside the pain. I've been in hospital, on oxygen and then housebound (still am housebound). At my worst I was bed bound for many years, with my mum being my carer. A flare-up of my pain still makes it almost impossible for me to get out of bed. I've spent almost every day in the last year in bed.
      The hardest challenges I experience besides the chronic pain I suffer is that the pain triggered me to develop rapid cycling, treatment resistant bipolar spectrum disorder (what used to be called manic depression), chronic fatigue syndrome and Fibromyalgia. My life is a vicious spiral of pain, depression and suicidal thoughts.
      Because the pain is invisible for both of us there is no way to tell who has the worst pain and Cluster headaches were one of the many possible diagnoses my team of doctors were worried about in my case. Because the nerves in my face are damaged I can experience problems with vision, hearing, taste, smell, balance, losing sensation in and moving the muscles in my face, jaw and neck. My Jaw joints click constantly and dislocate or gets locked in one position, I drool and have trouble swallowing. If the weather or air pressure is changing or about to change I can feel it in my face and ears. And this is just the start of the list of things I deal with daily.
      What is your daily experience?
      I hope you are able to find the treatments and tips that help to reduce your pain and manage the cluster headaches. I hope that more research will help new treatments to be developed in your lifetime and that you are able to have moments of life that are pain free. I hate that anyone has to suffer chronic pain and the associated symptoms and mental health issues that chronic pain can cause.
      Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot

    I have a condition called thunderclap headache. The medical term is RCVS. it also causes severe debilitating headaches. What essentially happens inside my head is that the blood vessels that delivers and receive blood to the brain starts cramping every time my pulse would pulsate. These attacks would last anywhere between 6-14 hours. I was at the hospital back in 2018, the first 6 days the doctors were trying to diagnose me, but it was only when i had an attack i told them to put me in a CT scan and then finally they could see what was going on. But on the third day i was there, i almost jumped from 8th floor because the headache was so severe. The only thing keeping me from doing that, was knowing my dad would come later, and the hot nurse who was taking care of an elder man next room.

    I get migraines and jaw pain from TMJD (TemporoMandibular Joint Disfunction) from an accident that happened in 1999. At first doctors dismissed it as a headache or bad teeth, then diagnosed me with trigeminal neuralgia. THEN, as it continued to get worse, I was sent to a numerologist specialist clinic and diagnosed with migraines and the TMJD.
    My dad was still sceptical and for years he told me to ignore the pain, to just get up and do what I wanted. About 7 years ago he got a nasty case of shingles which attacked the nerves in his head. He eventually had an operation to cut the nerves in his scalp to try to reduce his pain levels. He has been very sympathetic since and has even apologised for not understanding just how bad the pain could get. I hate that he suffered so much pain and wouldn't wish anyone to suffer with the kind of pain we have both had. But at least some good came out of it with his changing attitude. I got to teach him all the little tricks and tips I had picked up from my years of experience.

It's always a wait it our or a shot of mag. 5k later i come out of the hospital with pain 2/10 vs 30/10. I have legit knocked myself out hitting my head on the floor and smashed floor boards out with my forehead. I would never wish this even on my worst enemy. Its too brutal.

    A weird trick I've found was to induce a brain freeze to myself. Just chew and drink ice water. It'll hurt a lot for a minute. But as the brain freeze goes away so does my head ache.

    Cluster headache does not make your eye swell like that, you can get droop but his swelling is most likely from pushing on his eye because an attack can make it feel like your eye is being pushed out.

I can be so use to a scent but then one day it’s like it’s just overwhelms me and brings it on and nothing can help it so I just lay quietly in the dark trying not to move because that makes it worse 🤦🏾‍♀️

    I think his extreme online persona has something to do with it. He should slow down a little bit with that character once he recovered.
    Another example similar this is Joji/ FilthyFrank. His characters are acting manic with seizures most of the time. He got seizures for real and was sent to the hospital. He ditched FilthyFrank partly because of this.
    Acting is good, having a character and persona is good, but know your limits. It can affect you physically and mentally and should be taken seriously.

    I had to ask my boyfriend, parents, friends, or basically just everyone around me to press my head from both sides with either their hands or thighs as hard as they can.. It actually gives you a few seconds or minutes (1-2 minutes maybe) of relief.. I didn't know that he's suffering from this as well. I've never had this bad of a swelling in my face as he has. That's just terrible.. Omg..
    Edit: And yes.. Banging your head actually "helps". Of course not in the long run, but still.. I completely understand. I've actually had some success with anti epilepsy medicine and medications that are sometimes also used to treat symptoms of mental illnesses. Like the "side effects" that are bothersome while treating the mental illnesses are actually beneficial for cluster headaches and migraines. It's really weird, but fascinating still..

      If no one is available to squeeze your head I've found pulling my hair offers temporary relief. Like grab 2 fistfuls close to the roots and squeeze your fist so it pulls without damaging your hair.
      Good luck

      @ValiBorel 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@lajoyous1568 Oh, that's so sweet of you. But unfortunately for me this makes it somehow worse. I don't know why.. But other people told me that as well. Do you suffer from this as well? Do you also have swelling in your face? Because that's just horrific! I've never had that. My gums have swollen up in the past and I couldn't eat because my teeth were hurting very badly but as bad as him?! Never! Do you also have epilepsy and migraines? I hope it's okey to ask. Because if you read up on it on the internet you find sooooo much stuff that it just overwhelms you.

    • @lajoyous1568
      @lajoyous1568 9 месяцев назад

      @@ValiBorel I have a long history of Migraines and cluster headaches, though thankfully my face doesn't swell like that. My teeth can be too sensitive to brush for days at a time, also limiting me to liquids or very soft food. I'm waiting to see a new neurologist (3 months waiting for an appointment after a possible seizure). I've started having daily migraines again and my last neurologist did nothing but push narcotics that did nothing for the pain.
      Do you have epilepsy? I've only had the one episode and it isn't a confirmed seizure yet. I was alone and passed out after so I never went to the hospital.
      Hair pulling is currently my best relief for clusters though I must admit I've never tried the squeezing that works for you.
      The Internet seems to be a blessing and a curse when it comes to symptom and treatment research. I found out about daith piercings (for migraine relief) and had one for a while... it might even have helped, but needed to be removed for MRI. Not sure how often I really want to have to go through that. Cartilage piercings are notoriously hard to heal.
