I have seen a lot of vlogs showing the Inaugural cruise for Icon & I have to say that you guys were the best! Yes, EECC Travels, Don's family vacations and Kyle Palo were all entertaining & informative but the best is Parodeejay
This has been a great overview of the ship! Charging for the takeaway food near the pool seems crazy to me, along with so many of the other grab n go options.
With the plentiful, unending free food options in every corner of the ship, I don’t think I’ll ever need to get the up charge stuff! But lucky for you guys to get it all for free for now 👍
Pig & Anchor, Blue Iguana, Guy's Burger Joint, Shaq's Big Chicken ... you can't beat Carnival for great included food options. Not only is it a huge negative that RC closes off its buffet space when they're not serving food (because it's the perfect place to play cards/games while having easy access to drinks), but the nickel and diming is just an immense turnoff.
YES! I'm sick of this with royal. They're charging way more and you get way less. The food isn't even that good anymore and they expect you to pay for almost all of the activities onboard too
Thanks again for your informative and honest takes on this video. If it's an up charge make it worth the up charge. I hope cruise lines don't go too deep down the up charge rabbit hole (might be too late). Thanks again guys, happy cruising!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Omg you guys are the best! The Sweet Caroline 2024 counter is hilarious. I’m a very loyal Carnival cruiser but I’ve been wanting to try the mega ships Royal has so I’m really looking forward to your Icon series. I’m curious how crowded the areas will be on the inaugural sailing when more guests are onboard.
We are very loyal to Carnival but loved the Symphony of the Seas. So big & beautiful. The shows were amazing - Carnival could never. With that said the vibe of the guests was a bit snobby and reserved. Carnival is definitely the Fun Ships
Great video! Trying to soak in all the info on Icon as we are sailing on her next month! Will be interesting how The Hideaway (not Bay) goes over as definitely seems to be more of a "Vegas Pool Vibe Adults Area" vs "Quiet and Relaxing Adults Area". Feel like the Basecamp food options just aren't worth the upcharge given all the included food options on the ship (guess just paying for convenience of not having to travel far if in that area). Thanks!
Ok that makes me feel better. I have a hard time at concerts because of the vibrations from the sound it makes my chest hurt and I get some bad anxiety from it topped off with social anxiety 😅 The boom China-boom with sweet Caroline 😂
Just to let you know I’ve been on P&O Arvia and she has a swim up bar. We did a transatlantic last year lovely ship. I love your videos I look forward to a new one each week.
Every area seems very loud. I wonder if it’s because it’s a preview cruise - trying to hype everyone up, maybe? Interested to see how it is during paid cruises. Also, with the open bar concepts, does the music bleed from area to area?
Great video guys! Those prices, along with the high price of the cruise fare, are ridiculous, guess we have to pay for the building of this massive ship!!!
Omg , I’m the worst when it comes to music with loud too much bass. It makes me sick to my stomach. I hope it’s not always like that. I would really like to try a Royal Caribbean cruise and despite the one noise area, the rest of Icon looks amazing.
Thanks, Dee and Jay. When we started watching your videos we found out we had been on the same cruise as you in 2018, Grandeur to Canada and New England. I think the cruise director on Icon is the same guy that was on that cruise. Could that be true?
Not to poo poo on RC but didn't the Carnival Destiny (or maybe a different Destiny class ship) have a swim-up bar when it debuted in 1996? That was quickly removed in the first dry-dock. I thought I remember reading that somewhere.
I appreciate your unbiased assessment of that Base Camp smashburger. In my opinion, the ONLY thing that Carnival hits a homerun with is Guy's Burger Joint, and it is INCLUDED. Royal is so far out of radar range on the burger target that it is truly a joke that they would charge $11 US for that mediocre burger (plus gratuity of course). In fact, even the upcharge Johnny Rocket's concept pales in comparison to Guy's Burger Joint. I consider myself to be a Burger Aficionado, having enjoyed burgers on 5 continents and Royal Caribbean burgers don't even make it on my top 50 list.
We asked and we were told no. They have not included any of the milkshakes with the package. But it can't hurt to check again when you are on the ship.
Great embarkation day videos! Just curious - did you start out with the intention of making it a 2 parter or the ship was so big and the video was so long that you decided to break it up into 2 parts? Also, about the up-charged food items - is there any chance that they made the portions smaller for their sailing since they were not charging for those items? I’m really curious to see the rest of this shorter inaugural cruise and then the differences on the longer inaugural cruise to come!
We don’t usually go into any particular day thinking about how many videos it might make. That usually happens in the edit, where if something if threatening to be 40+ minutes, it’s usually shortened or broken up, hah. As for Basecamp, the impression we got is that those are the actual portion, but we’ll try to eyeball some portions this week!! :D
I find it interesting that it says no cameras on the waterslides, but I keep seeing videos of vloggers on the waterslides inside. I’m so confused! Unless they’re sneaking them on?
There were a few “influencers” that were invited to do it as part of the early media event cruises, but none of the current cruises have allowed it as far as I can tell.
Absolutely love this ship. To the point that just looking at it's sheer magnificence makes me teary for some bizarre reason. It is bettered even more by watching you two beautiful people walking us through it so thank you 😊 I must ask though, is there anywhere 'loungey' where music ISN'T played? I cannot sunbathe in peace with such a racket and it seems it's everywhere you go!
Nah, it's a very loud ship overall, and we haven't really found any nooks that don't have boom-boom music during the day or night. There's not really a serene zone to be found!!
Royal is so damn sneaky! Putting that basecamp takeout as a pay place because there are no other eateries around that area and of course tired kids and adults in the water park just wanting to grab something and some saying whatever I will pay for it is some move! And looking at that crowns edge which isn’t even a ropes course but a half a** TINY second long zip line if u can even call it that and charging like $90 is some scam! And charging for an adult pool and beach where they already have beaches everywhere on coco and an already have a huge pool with a swim up bar really is something royal. I am not loyal to any cruise line and enjoy them all but with the amount of money they are ranking in and nickeling and diming is nervy!

I would not be paying $14 for a milkshake, 😮. I agree with the very loud music. That would make my ears hurt. 😂 Fun evening! Thank you for sharing ❤❤
Brilliant videos me and my husband love them, you are are very funny Jay and also Dee as well. 😀😃😅💜
With the plentiful, unending free food options in every corner of the ship, I don’t think I’ll ever need to get the up charge stuff! But lucky for you guys to get it all for free for now 👍
That’s my perspective on every ship. So much good food that is already included.
Your videos are so entertaining, I love it keep it coming.
LOL Techno Caroline !! 😂 Can't wait for a Reggae version.
So excited for the first swim up bar at sea

I agree. Carnival does those things better than RCL
Im loving the sweet caroline counter. 😂 yall are so fun!

Love the honesty
Thank you for sharing all the amazing things on ICON 😃👋🏾
Great vlog. I think Chill Island looks my favorite spot. Dee's dress is very pretty. She looks nice.
I have never been hungry enough to buy extra pay food on ship. The ship does look fun and lots to do. Thanks for sharing 😊
This is why I like watching you guys Great information can't wait for the next video ❤❤
Lol spotted JT on the top deck filming towards the last party of the balloon drop 😂
Loving the new series! The glare from the ring light in y’alls glasses in the wrap up in cabin was WAY distracting😮
Ooof, it was the vanity mirror light. We tried to remember to turn it off every night after that because it annoyed us, ha ha!! :P
I love your enthusiasm

Thanks for the review. Can just imagine what its going to be like when its full. Looks like a ship for kids. Nice video.
Jay brings the Sweet Caroline eye roll to Icon of the Seas. You go Jay!
Love your channel! We'll be next door on the NCL Bliss today... we'll wave!
Bahahahah sweet Caroline countdown! I love it!
Good morning! See you around noon!
I think we are more chill island people😃
Ok that makes me feel better. I have a hard time at concerts because of the vibrations from the sound it makes my chest hurt and I get some bad anxiety from it topped off with social anxiety 😅
The boom China-boom with sweet Caroline 😂
Kevin Philip is in the pub. Best guitarist ever! Scottish redhead

I think Icon would be a bit much for me.
This ship looks amazing! Loving all the icon content.

Beautiful ship but I feel like it’s geared more for kids.
❤❤❤❤
You guys are so cute!!
I really miss a relaxing adults only area and it did seem small.
That’s crazy expensive for more seasoned buffet food!!
P&O Arvia has a swim up bar - so not sure this would be considered the first at sea.
I’ve noticed on other RC ships the music even during karaoke the music is so loud you can barely hear the singers!
Omg , I’m the worst when it comes to music with loud too much bass. It makes me sick to my stomach. I hope it’s not always like that. I would really like to try a Royal Caribbean cruise and despite the one noise area, the rest of Icon looks amazing.
Do they still have the big screen TV for movie night under the stars, and if so where is it located on the ship?
They do not!!
@@parodeejay Okay and Thanks for clarifying. Such a beautiful ship. May have to look 👀 into this as a future cruise.
Thanks, Dee and Jay. When we started watching your videos we found out we had been on the same cruise as you in 2018, Grandeur to Canada and New England. I think the cruise director on Icon is the same guy that was on that cruise. Could that be true?
The clock on the pole says 2:00
Yes, for some reason it is always stuck at 2 o’clock. I’m not sure if that’s a reference to something that we just missed.
Not to poo poo on RC but didn't the Carnival Destiny (or maybe a different Destiny class ship) have a swim-up bar when it debuted in 1996? That was quickly removed in the first dry-dock. I thought I remember reading that somewhere.
Can you use your diamond drinks to get shakes from deserted?
The ship is great! I definitely prefer the easier music in the evening at the cafe where you are having cheese and olives. Much nicer.
Cheese curds are better with ranch! I'll maybe catch Icon 10 years from now when I can afford it.🤣

Would you happen to know if the regular vanilla milkshakes are included in the deluxe pkg?
We asked and we were told no. They have not included any of the milkshakes with the package. But it can't hurt to check again when you are on the ship.
@@Dee-of-ParoDeeJay Thank you so much for answering me. My husband and I enjoy watching your channel.
Dee, is that a jumpsuit you have on? Looks great!
Yes it is. I bought it at Belk. It is that material called Plisse it feels like pajamas my favorite.
Came to the comments hoping someone else asked. Super cute!

@@parodeejay makes perfect sense. Thank you!
if you have a dining package , is basecamp included?
The dining package should give you a $20 credit at Basecamp, from what we understand
Love your black jumpsuit, Dee!
Psst…..Lionel Messi doesn’t pronounce his name like the train…
Thanks. Oops on the pronunciation thanks for clarifying that.
Sounds like being at live football game at a stadium. No sounds of the ocean . Just a gigantic mall.
Sorry for asking this. But why is there a life guard. In knee deep water ?
Wait! What? Royal Caribbean under Jason Liberty is over charging for everything?! That is so unlike RC! /s 🤣
Who’s your cruise director
Mike, who we had on Grandeur and Odyssey. He’s a hoot and a half!! :D

They have hot dogs at no charge.
Nope you are not old, we are only in our sixties and we PREFER low key music to our tender ears.. lololol… bring on the steel drums please 😎🌴💐💐💐💐👍🚢
You think 50% occupantsy?
About 4,200 on this preview sailing, and about 5,200 on the inaugural coming up, from what we’ve been told.
@@parodeejay awesome! I think The huge ship will spread out the passengers well. May can’t come soon enough!
I am a old fart , is every deck LOUD
It's too loud everywhere. I think I'll pass on this ship.
It’s a verrrrry loud experience overall, especially on embarkation day!!
You didn't say anything about the chicken and waffles nuggets or Smashburger being good. The silence is deafening?
We did a food wrap up at the end of the evening with more details and a worth-it-or-not section!! :P
@@parodeejay Ah, okay! We're still in the middle, lol.
Seems like sensory overload.
Royal is not for me I will stick with Carnival!!!! Jubilee in Sept!!!
Much too noisy for us. I actually watched most of this with closed captioning because of the constant din.
It’s quite the noisy ship, indeed!!
One word of advice ! Music to loud in hideaway don’t got here don’t tell royalty to lower it just cause you don’t like it
Not impressed by the adult's only area not covered too much of a party, the adults only should be quiet and relaxing
Love you guys. But get a new wardrobe
Nah, embarkation shirt is a classic! There would be much uproar and outcry if it ever changed!! :P ~Jay
