That poor baby was almost strangled to death...... So glad it got free from MOM before she flew off the nest.. What a close call for that poor baby. This is going to be an exciting yr for these little one and their parents. Im just so glad for a good out come this time. Rest up little eaglet, you deserve lots of it.
It always surprises me. Eagle parents are so gentle and so good at protecting when an intruder comes around, but do not seem to know how to help their babies when they get in trouble.
I wonder if the mother assumed he was alright since he wasn't calling to her or making any stressful calls. I was certainly on the edge of my seat worrying he wasn't going to make it back in the bowl. Thank the Lord he did! 🙏🏻 🦅
What a brave little one. D32 will be a survivor. There is no doubt in my mind DM2 is a great father and protector. He looked as if he was going to turn D32 over, but chose not to, but did keep an eye on her. He might have done more harm than good. Good job, you two! Thank you for posting this so quickly!

I remember seeing that one, I was so disappointed I didn't continue watching. It certainly doesn't follow that bigger birds have bigger brains. I've seen smaller parents accidentally push out a chick whilst arranging themselves to sit on them. They look back at the chick falling out and over, and it doesn't seem to register even though they watched it happen. I've also seen this with an egg fumbled out of the nest, they see it, but then turn away. Doesn't seem to register with the parent. Of course, there were more than a few very poorly constructed nests which were not successful in keeping everyone aboard.

Poor D32. S/he struggled so hard and then was all pooped out. Life is often so hard for our eagles. We have much to be thankful for at this nest. So sweet that DM2 checked on D32 and then let D32 work it out. Alls well that ends well.
Either the chick or one of the parents got fish blood on the feather and that acted as glue. as the mother laid on the chick the blood dried and the bird became attached.
Yes, I was scared because on one of the nests several years ago, the same thing happened! But the little one couldn't get untangled and mom flew off and the baby dropped to the ground. :( It was so sad because that little one was so perky. Scary when this happens. THANK GOD he loosened from Mom before she took off!!

wow. Does this happen often?
Not really, but eaglets do get into some unfortunate situations sometimes.
Amazing how precarious life can be. Who would think of such a situation arising? A feather!

Moms feathers likely got sticky from the fish after feeding the eaglets and the feathers sticking together tip to tip forming a loop.
That made my heart do some double beats. Thankfully there was a good outcome.
are u serious go get ur heart check ur such a weak person but hey no offence
How come the dad is not helping mom to free D32????
They can pick up big sticks....heavy fish...small animals....but they just CAN'T SEEM to reach over and pick up their chick.....Good ol' bird brains.
Maybe they want their Children to find the solution and overcome by themselves. That the Rule to be survived in wild.
That's not how nature works. The mother isn't going to be interested in a chick that doesn't have the strength to pick itself up
I was thinking the same thought! They use there beaks for so many things, but when it comes to their chicks’ they can’t do anything but watch!?
