We were very lucky that he lived in Boston for a time. He played local clubs, R & B, Blues, and Jazz, sometimes all in the same set!

Duke is a blues master but there are so many (unknown) guys who play much better jazz than he does....

fred pg You can't find a jazz video on RUclips without some comment like this^. Everyone is a critic when it comes to jazz instead of just enjoying the music.

Hal Davis There s a lot more unknown players I could name, for a starter try Martijn van Iterson, dutch player, not very well known but a real jazz player ;-)

Eugene Sweeney My comment is by no means a hateful one like the ones you see so often here. Duke s jazz playing is very basic and naive, typical blues guy trying to play jazz but lacking the vocabulary and deep harmonic knowledge it takes to truly master jazz. Now if people enjoy it, great, I m just not crazy about it, that s all.

His style works well on this song. He swings well like all good blues players and does not repeat himself.

Pascal Abadie it's jazz , reminiscent of kenny Burrell

Pascal Abadie lol what...too many bends to be considered jazz??😏

I totally agree on that. Very naive jazz playing, blues licks over a jazz progression actually.
