the way it should be. Real and shared. The things that make a vtuber a person outside the company add to the depth of the character in a way that character writing cannot. Hell, as things stand, XD most of the Holofans know who is factually well endowed, who is factually shortest (to a degree), etc etc etc, just from talents talking about one another in very limited capacity on streams. It would be important to keep stuff out of that loop though but I think it would be fine as long as some standards are put in place to limit what CAN be shared. Speaking from having been a smoker, (been nicotine free for about 3 years now) I would have found some common ground with Raden in the fact that she smokes irl and likely watched her more.

There's also a reason why Raden is the most popular member of REGLOSS and I think it has a lot to do with the fact that she's just so different from not only the other REGLOSS girls but also pretty much every talent in Hololive. Aside from the smoking and gambling I think Vtuber that immediately sprung to my mind when I saw her personality would have to be Salome-san from Nijisanji.

People "browbeat" others over every vice, not just chemical addictions. Maybe one sticks out more to you than others, but it's pretty evenly spread aside from alcohol, which requires passing some imaginary line into alcoholism before that gets it too.
There are several arguments over how much each individual can control their eating habits, due to genetics or upbringing, but smoking is something you are not predisposed to doing; meaning while many have moved away from brow beating over weight people and rather brow beating the companies pushing it, the smoking companies were literally brow beat into putting pictures of cancerous tumors, dead babies and all manner of other consequences onto the packaging they sell... so then it transfers to the individual, if you smoke you are not only knowingly declining your own health but potentially those around you as it's a gaseous form of cancerous substance Which is why people are brow beat over it, it's something that you not only don't need to do, it's either your decision or mistaken encounter with it that causes the addiction despite all the measures that people have painstakingly put into place to try to prevent people from starting Personally I grew up with both parents smoking, thankfully not inside the house or directly around us, and one of the two is already dead from throat cancer at 58, while the other has early onset of COPD (essentially where your lung capacity gets so bad you can no longer breath without assistance) and they are still smoking, even more heavily than they had been before the diagnosis... This is 100% not surprising at all. Being open and public about being a heavy smoker is INSANELY important. For example, off-collabs -- can you imagine the speculation that would ensue in the fanbase if the real reason for not meeting up with someone (avoiding second-hand smoke, for asthma or allergy reasons, etc.) had to be kept secret?
Manager be like, might as well try something new with this genre. Let’s roll with this heavy smoker, alcoholic and gamble addict at the same time idea and see where she takes us.
She'll have to quit at some point if she's serious about the idol/singing part of her gen. Just like for Okayu&others who had to get in shape to be able to do their job as an idol
This is proof of how Cover has grown. Cannot imagine 2020 or even 2021 Cover would let her. All of those dramas, backlashes, and fucks up, Cover truly learnt from it and now they're the bonafide biggest Vtuber corpo in the world and by a wide wide margin.
Being a heavy smoker isn't a great thing, no one should become one, but if you are, then take responsibility. Which it seems she could be, at least admitting it is the first step.
I think every smoker knows the bad cause of smoking. I don't know why western people despised smoking so much yet they see drinking as normal thing even though both are bad, and being drunk also causing problem for people around.
@@maruboronnot every western person drinks??? Also even smoking a little is disgusting for the people around you but drinking a little doesn't harm anyone else. Don't act like western people are the only ones drinking when Asian countries are some of the heaviest drinkers around

im actually surprised that out of all the talent shes the only one that smokes, publically at least because you know jp and id as country have alot of smokers
i feel like people who both sing and use their voices for long periods of time as part of their jobs are less likely to be smokers just out of practicality, right?
Smoking in Asia is massive, and Japan especially even among the women. As far as I know Irys said and used to smoke but doesn’t anymore. Considering the number of openly weight conscious girls in Hololive, plus the average age of them all to be in the late 20s early 30s, I expect no less than half of them to be smokers.
It's probably mentally/emotionally beneficial in the long term for a Vtuber to be open with their real selves to some degree. Playing too much and too deep into a character would be tiring over time I can imagine.
I'm happy that Cover allowed her to be herself without having to hide her habit. I mean imagine having the audience found out much later on by accident or something, the backlash would be pretty severe... So being opened and frank from the get go so that she can be accepted in the long run is much better. Still, in my honest opinion regards her smoking habit, I would love for her to quit, if only for her own health and especially her ability to sing, but I'm definitely not going to hound and berate her about it.
Raden is kind of based, in one stream I learned how to sneak alcohol in to sport events and received advice on life. Glad hololive allows their talents to express themselves rather than just be the typical idol
It's so funny seeing people losing it because the clipper wrote "he", to talk about her manager. 1. As far as I can hear she didn't actually explicitely revealed her manager's genre here. It's just a random translation choice from mr clipper. 2. They do have male managers. Matsuri talked about having a male manager and that some other can accept to have one too, on stream AFTER the Mel incident. Everything you heard about "rules changed" is misunformation. It's just that the girls will never go out of their way to reveal that their manager is a man.
Cover's HR team is goated I tell you. Normally, a company would avoid hiring people with not one but all three 'vices'. But no, they see beyond the bad habits, and the potential of what she can do.
So the management not only knew that we'd be cool with an idol with the most non-idol behavior, but they also knew we'd love her for it? Damn, management knows us a little too well.
Glimpses like these actually show how far cover has come in such a short time. Mere years ago stuff just happened and they managed it afterwards or not. And now there is training, compliance, and experienced thought put into stuff like this beforehand. Sure there will still be misses, but it shows they have a handle on things❤
Raden is the perfect figurehead for Dev_Is. She’s entirely different than everyone else in Hololive and Dev_Is in that she’s not trying to be a character or a conventional vtuber steamer. She’s authentically herself, and her streams are her just telling stories about herself or the things that interest her. And that alone is enough to bring in the viewers.
Management expected Raden to received backlash before debut. But then, after all regloss members debut, she in fact became the leading in sub count and supachat. Truly unexpected outcome.
I'm not sure if it was a typo or not but if it wasn't i'm surprised to hear Raden say her manager is a he. I thought to avoid any awkwardness or possible uncomfortable interactions all the holo girls got female managers
She didn't specify any gender. English can get kinda unwieldy if you don't assign a gender when speaking about someone though so sometimes translators just "takes a guess" basically.

Manager be like, might as well try something new with this genre. Let’s roll with this heavy smoker, alcoholic and gamble addict at the same time idea and see where she takes us.
Finally an oshi for me
She'll have to quit at some point if she's serious about the idol/singing part of her gen.
Just like for Okayu&others who had to get in shape to be able to do their job as an idol
even the managers have gap moe
her laugh is fukin infectious, like a rusty hinge on a door that grew on you as the years go by
beautiful
@@nazunaaaaaa work on your reading comprehension. they never said anything about westerners' drinking habits. all they said is that they tend to make a huge stink about smoking but rarely bat an eye when it comes to drinking. it isn't exactly wrong when you look further into the comments on raden clips.
@@kriosfearsmoker detected. I don't smoke or drink but I'd rather be around a drinker than a smoker because smoking is damn disgusting. Of course people are going to hate smoking more when it makes the air dirty and causes cancer.
@@nazunaaaaaa i still don't get where all these assumptions of yours come from when i never even defended smoking. all i did was clarify what another guy said. seriously, work on your reading comprehension.
Sounds like Cover has gotten their understanding of talent assistance sorted out properly now ❤
Wish another corpo could figure that out.
Smoker gremlin
LoL JFT RDN Meets Aki, quits smoking for her oshi like a madlass😊
im actually surprised that out of all the talent shes the only one that smokes, publically at least
because you know jp and id as country have alot of smokers
100% more than Raden smokes in Hololive, but it comes down to the stigma again.
i feel like people who both sing and use their voices for long periods of time as part of their jobs are less likely to be smokers just out of practicality, right?
Smoking in Asia is massive, and Japan especially even among the women. As far as I know Irys said and used to smoke but doesn’t anymore. Considering the number of openly weight conscious girls in Hololive, plus the average age of them all to be in the late 20s early 30s, I expect no less than half of them to be smokers.
It's probably mentally/emotionally beneficial in the long term for a Vtuber to be open with their real selves to some degree. Playing too much and too deep into a character would be tiring over time I can imagine.
admitting to a "bad trait" is a good thing imo. it feels honest and makes a person more relatable and "real" instead of pretending to be perfect.
Ah gyaru delinquent level to BOCCHI gang?
The good things about hololive management, they can accept their talent bad habit and not trying to make them seems perfect.
There are still male managers? I thought they changed it to all females after the Mel incident?
Is this what they meant by talent freedom? As in REAL talent freedom not Anarchy
Raden is kind of based, in one stream I learned how to sneak alcohol in to sport events and received advice on life. Glad hololive allows their talents to express themselves rather than just be the typical idol
Nisanji makes me doubt the management thing.
he? wow thats a new one, noice
Wait, what _are_ "the 3 big traits of a human trash"? I gather from context that smoking is one, but...
Smoking, drinking and gambling I think.
The other 2 is alcoholism and gambling addiction.
Now I know! And knowing is half the battle.
Damn holos is more looks like paradise these day compare to nijis.
She's an incredible find. Glad cover allowed her
👍
What are the 3 big traits of human trash?
Problem child but successful.
Is the manager actually a “he”? I thought they stopped hiring male managers or am I remembering things wrong
ive always been worried if she was fine with that info being out there but im glad that she fine with it
So the management not only knew that we'd be cool with an idol with the most non-idol behavior, but they also knew we'd love her for it? Damn, management knows us a little too well.
Management: See that man in the corner over there?
Yagoo: Hai...
Management: ...His dreams are already broken anyway, do whatever you want.
Yagoo: Naruhodo...
I still find it so funny that Raden got 100k subs first out of any member, she’s just so fun to watch because of her chaotic personality
Being upfront about it was a powermove. "Yeah, I smoke, big whoop, wanna cry about it?"
Glimpses like these actually show how far cover has come in such a short time. Mere years ago stuff just happened and they managed it afterwards or not. And now there is training, compliance, and experienced thought put into stuff like this beforehand. Sure there will still be misses, but it shows they have a handle on things❤
A message to all the “fans” who think how this works.
Lots of new members get male manager this time i noticed.
@@Palewolf0Inubashiri Gotcha. Fair enough
I know the other reply said Raden didn't specify a gender but Shiori has a male manager and according to other replies here, Matsuri does too.
@@SilverScizor753 Ok. So not entirely unheard of but I'm guessing it's a matter of female preferred but male if there's a shortage/ they prove trustworthy
@@TehKang I also assume Cover's just reworked their vetting process. That's also just of the managers we know of, there could be more.
Is it gender neutral pronoun? As far as I know Hololive have female managers, but perhaps ReGloss also have males like Holostars JP have (or had?). I think Holostars EN has female managers since they share with Hololive EN
So she broke yagoo's dream even before debut
she is also another character that appeals to another specific demographic
