  • The PreSonus ERIS E8 xt are a great buy and will not disappoint.
The main stand out feature of the set is the exemplary sound stage reproduction of the speakers.
A close second is the low 35hz reproduction of the woofers that offer excellent low end monitoring.
This video is just a quick unboxing and initial overview and reaction of about a 3 - 4 hour listening time.
You can purchase the monitors here amzn.to/2VDQrcK

The hiss and static is typically caused by improper grounding and has been a common complaint with these monitors. This can be easily fixed by using a 2-channel (stereo) passive direct input box (or DI box) with a “ground” switch on it. A couple of inexpensive examples are the Rolls DB24 and the Klark Teknik DI AV 22P.
Also, another common complaint with the Eris series monitors can be not having enough signal, or power, coming from the source to adequately drive the monitors. This may give people the impression that the monitors amplifiers don’t have enough power. That’s why I use a small preamplifier between my source (PC audio card stereo out) and the DI box, and then from the DI box XLR OUT to the monitors. The preamplifier “boosts” the signal to the monitors.
In my case, the signal path is: PC stereo out > preamplifier > DI box > monitors.
    I love these monitors!

Hi, I have seen your video, and if it is possible, I would like to have an opinion from you, beacuse I would like to buy these speakers.
Reading some reviews of those who bought them, it seems when nothing sounds, there is an annoying background hum.
    Did you have this issue?
Thank you very much for your help.

I have a hum, it’s barely audible but it’s there! So yes be careful when purchasing if you have a super quiet room you will hear it and it might annoy you .. hope this helps mate

@@lightleaked Hi, thank you very much for your reply.
I must say that I am very disappointed that this pair of speakers has this issue.
I wonder why a factory like Presonus build speakers amplifiers with a bad signal / noise ratio?. Bah!
I would have wanted to change from my passive sound system (amplifier and passive speakers) which has no hum to eris 8 XT .. but at this point, it will be better to change only the speakers to another passive loudspeakers system .. buying the Avantone Cla 10.

@@MrRedcor I still have them and don’t notice the hum anymore .. they are amazing at that price the bass response and highs are top notch , I have created my hit single “make it right” on them , I have mastered the track on them and my Yamaha hs7 and my jbl pro’s . check it out and tell me how the sound quality is on your system. soundcloud.app.goo.gl/KioHF4WgWBt1i131A

@@lightleaked Wow, I have to say it sounds very good...But I don't understand why have you used , the Eris, the Yamaha and the JBL? It wasn't enough only one of them?
About the Eris 8 XT I'm going to hear it from a retailer and after I will decide...

    • @lightleaked
      @lightleaked  3 года назад +1

@@MrRedcor well , when you master and finalise your track , you need to have as many speakers headphones to check how the mix plays on all of them, if the track sounds good on everything, you have a good mix. once you get to know a speaker you know where it lacks where it needs less where it needs more and you compensate for it. But honestly it’s a great set but if I had to buy again I would save up a bit more and get something better. I would also recommend looking at the Yamaha HS 7’s if you place them right/correct in your room they are very good and are also budget friendly

ya these are on sale on amazon right now and presonus knows about the problem with the internal transformer per the forums. im wondering if theyve fixed it or still selling faulty speakers? i wanted to buy some while they were on sale.

Many active speakers have hissing noise. Recently I bought KRK Rokit 7 G4s and returned them because of annoying hissing noise I could hear from 5-6 feet away. My Yamaha HS5s also have it, but not as bad as KRKs. I could not hear Yamaha's noise from 2 feet. Maybe I need a bigger desk to put the speakers farther away. Too bad most reviewers don't mention that hissing noise at all.

@@FirstLast-nr6gf I've got a pair of HS8 for my studio and Adam T7vs for my Turntable setup and neither have any hum or hiss. Check your power and make sure everything is grounded and make sure you are running balanced cables between your source and speakers.

Was thinking about buying these, but I have already sent one pair of PreSonus monitors back due to hissing noise so after hearing that these also have hiss I decided not to get them. On another note, I would suggest not explicitly reading marketing text off the box.

I have no hissing. Gotta consider grounding issues and wiring in the room from the outlets, audio interface, audio cables. It's NOT necessarily the speakers. How old is your home? How well grounded is the electrical? Do you have a power conditioner? Etc. Mine are on right now and dead silent.
