There are so many things wrong with this report its ridiculous. Firstly, why are you asking Joanna Harper, a man who fought to allow other men to play women in rugby, about a DSD issue? Why did you not have on actual experts in this field such as Ross Tucker or Emma Hilton to explain and answer questions with actual facts? To hear Harper say that if the Zambian Football team had three males with DSDs on it, ie three biological men took places from three women on the womens team, it wasn't 'unfair' because they 'didn't win anything'. No. It is unfair. If true it was unfair to the three women who should have been on that team and it is unfair to the women playing them even if they beat them. The World Athletics banned people who have DSDs that only males have from competing in the women's competition. They can of course compete in their respective men's competitions since they are men. And no, it was not 'quite a bit of sporting theatre' to watch a man beat up a women. Do better Times Radio.

Most of the time, yes. There are some individuals who are XY where the SRY gene on the Y chromosome is inactive, or a genetic alteration prevents the body from responding to testosterone, resulting in a typically female phenotype. There is no reason why such individuals cannot be given an exemption to allow them to compete in woman's sports, as they have no category advantage. A similar system is already in place to allow some athletes to use some medications which might otherwise breach doping rules.

And we HAVE to go back to biology! I have absolutely no ill feelings towards Khelif, or any other individual who is somewhere 'in between' the two genders. A neutral category, where Khelif and other athletes with similar situations can compete, without putting women's sports at risk. THe point that this debate over Khelif just proves: GENDER is not a 'feeling' but a biological fact.

There is no ambiguity
@@manshavivekI don't understand why people should be separated just because we can't neatly categorise them. We just need accept that people come in lots of different shapes, and let them live according to their basic right to be who they feel they are.
How long until the Olympics don’t have separate gender categories and just let everyone compete against everyone?
You mean just men against men? Back to 1900
the person tested positive for the Y chromosome, so should be a HE for sports no matter the levels of testosterone. shame on OC for allowing this mess.
She didn't test positive for the Y chromosome, though, there's no evidence for that
Why don’t they just make a transgender Olympics for people that want to watch those types of competitions and opening ceremonies? Make the Olympics men vs men and women vs women and keep it the way it’s been for a very long time.
She isn't transgender though. She's a biological female. If she'd been born male in a conservative country like Algeria, she'd in no way have been allowed to transition and then to represent her country in the Olympics because transitioning is illegal in Algeria.
At first her dad even objected to her taking up boxing because he thought it wasn't right for women to box.
You would be in the Special Olympics based on this.
@gordonstrong5232 DSD is not transgender though, and is treated differently in conservative Muslim societies. Basically the parents would have to choose a gender. And we don’t know her biological gender since we did not test her.
@@gordonstrong5232 She ? you call the guy a she ? you lost your mind
Look at the harsh nature where she grew up you'll understand she's a strong woman not a man, Imane Khelif is a pure 100% woman, people justifying her strength by stating that she is a man is a complete outrageous nonsense, accept the defeat don't try to safeguard your face or dignity or what's left out of it by spreading false and baseless claims. The italian babygirl shouldn't be on that ring, shocked she realised being inferior... Imane has higher and stronger platinum genetics, that's all!. Shame one the media, trying destroying a winner instead of rewarding her. Pure arrogance and racism, double standards. Imane is a strong female fighter, carini is sweet babygirl.
A simple test can be done to see if she is XY. That is all that needs to happen.
@@claireconolly8355 in my opinion that would be fine, but by doing it aren't we up to a certain biase level ? Loosing from sight the fact that these two competitors are from two very different environments with very different abilities. Why do we see a 90% African athletes at the sprint competition with European flags ? not because their men, but due to their higher physical abilities and higher testosterone levels, giving better winning chances, even the Switzerland team are having an African black woman competitor running with the Swiss colors...it is a fact that on a stage some athletes are real hard working beasts and others fail to honor the competition level in endurance and performance aspects. Imane Khalif grew up in a remote location around a rural province Tiaret, walked everyday 10km to train boxing, battling the very essence of a solid core conservative social environment to practice her sport. I'm wondering if the reciprocal scenario would've trigger all this attacks and hate on a high level competing athlete i.e. if carini won the fight in 46s I'm sure no polemic no attacks no hate and no voices questioning the winer, that's the biase I'm talking about. Yes she should provide objective biological evidence not to prove she is a woman, but rather sue the heck out of the ioc, carini and all the conventional media and social media platforms for allowing the spread of false information, hate and degrading the athletes mental well-being and fitness during a critical competition phase.
Have a separate class for those of "dubious" sex! Funny, how this suddenly pops up: I can't remember this issue arising at other Olympics. Although in the days of the Iron Curtain, there were some strange looking "females" competing! 🤣
Khalif competed in the last Olympics and finished 5th.
Khelif was disqualified from the 2023 world championships after failing an unspecified gender eligibility test.
Agreed

@@fionarose7831 disqualified hours before the final so she was qualified before the final 😅😅
If the athlete biological gender is different to the gender category of the sport they are participating in. They shouldn’t be able to compete. It really is that simple…. Why is this even a debate or confusing!!!!!
Is that a really question? Are you serious??
