Boo-hoo cry about it. Lawrence's contract is the real ridiculous one for a underachieving number 1 pick. At least Love made it his first year as a starter. In what universe is Love worth $55-60 mil per year??? 1 playoff win in 1 season I'll admit is better than most but come on now, for once I'm with Brockman.
This 100% the Packers fault, this was guarenteed to happen for the length of time they chose to sit him. Teams make the most progress with starters on rookie contracts like the Texans and Stroud, the Packers wasted that opportunity so pay up...
Man, people are insane. Jordan deserves 60 mil a year plus. Saying oh he only had half of a good season. No. He played GREAT the first 3 games. Then dealt with injuries to the line, wr's, & Jones. Receivers were never in the right spot. Lafluer was calling plays with tons of hesitancy. They're not paying Jordan off of last year. They're paying him based off of the past 4+ years! They see the type of person he is. The type of leader he is. How hard he works. Sure, some QB's have had stretches of good-great play, but there's only like 3 other QB's in NFL HISTORY who've put up the numbers 10VE did in his first full season. There's a reason why you guys can't even win your fantasy league, let alone can manage an NFL team.
Maybe not a big contract but bigger than a rookie contract, reason must be used along with common sense. Yes they need someone to run the offense but he’s not a big name player.
I say the Packers should see if he blinks. The guy has had one year as a starter and hasn't truly proven anything, simply because of such a small sample size. It makes no sense to pay anyone serious money this early in their career unless they literally won the Superbowl MVP in their rookie season. If you give in with Love then every rookie has any half-decent debut is going to try the same thing and that isn't a viable situation. Yes, he is missing valuable practice time that could hurt his development but remember that also hurts him. He can't earn the real money if he ends up a one season wonder. It is in his best interest to develop as a player because that's how he'll truly become a star who can earn serious money. So he can either give in and continue with the development that he needs to succeed or he can hold out and possibly destroy his career long term. Odds are he's aware of that and won't hold out long.
There is no doubt Jordan Love played great for half the season last year. Maybe more than half the season. But he played well in one playoff game, and poorly in another. Green Bay fans don't like drama. It's why many turned on Rodgers, and many turned on Favre toward the end. They appreciate greatness, but don't like drama. If Jordan Love holds out to get a HUGE contract, based on half a season and one play-off game, he puts tremendous pressure on himself. Green Bay messed up by having such a short evaluation period, but now they are going to have to pay him. If he's a 50 million a year QB, playing for the Green Bay Packers, he had better be a HOF talent. The fans have expected such since 1992. It hurts to say as a Bears fan, but the Packers MIGHT have found another gem. But it's equally as likely no one had film on him, and now they do. Defenses can hone in on his weaknesses. He might be a one season phenom like Rich Gannon. It's a really risky move for both the team and Love.
The Packers are lame. They've had TWO HOF QB's for nearly 3 decades and only have two rings to show for it. Meanwhile, Mahomes already has 3 rings in 5 years.
Love is way overrated. Had a good half a year now he want big money.. Should never happen if he is under contract then stop paying him if he doesn't practice.. What is a contract good for if the player doesn't abide by it.. If it was him being benched or cut hes getting exactly what is in the contract.. Because he knows if he is cut or benched what he will receive and agreed to it.. What a joke the NFL is along with the players that cry i want more or I'm not playing 😢

Agents are greedy and get off on pushing greed to new levels. Teams are greedy, team owners are filthy. The league is monsterous and so are the broadcast/streaming partners. It's greed all the way up.
Just like a team can cut a player one year into a five year "contract". Those contracts are FAKE. There is nothing to honor. They aren't worth the paper they are printed on. Now run along and watch golf dork. It's easier to understand.
you're a clown for thinking that way. do you think the packers are going to take care of jordan love if he tears and achilles during OTAs? jordan love is 100% correct in making sure he gets his money before putting his body at risk.
@@joedawg713 So much anger in this reply, my god. Go outside, take a breath.
If a team cuts a player, they still have to pay them at least the guaranteed portion of the contract. So you're simply factually incorrect. The guaranteed $ throughout the remainder of the contract is owed.
Given that, the player should also make good and provide the services they agreed to. The team is willing to pay the money agreed to in the contract for the stated amount of years, so the player needs to provide that service.
Im telling my boss too that I will hold in this week until I get a new contract and I wont show up for work because I could get injured on my way to the toilet...
He'll be the highest paid guy based on half a season not a whole year.
New contract? He played great for one half of a season. You signed your deal, play. The money will come. SMH.
Jordan Love has yet to do anything that Baker Mayfield hasn’t also done.
fix the high pitched noise
Give him the money dammit! We want a Superbowl in 2025!
Meh. First, different agencies represent Love and Rodgers (used to be but not now). Second, players tend to listen to their "representatives". Love never said (in person) that he would sit out. Those were his "representatives" words. And yes, every contract million $ is worth another $30K for the "agency". Not much in the scope of things. What do you think is going on???
So it's his "representatives" who are not practicing right now? Why would Green Bay care if they're not practicing?
Didn’t we see this 2 years ago with Daniel Jones. Give him 50 a year, and pray.
lol Herbert crushed your poll
If Love gets $50-60 and Tua tops him what does Mahomes get? 100M per year?
Mahmomes got paid a 10 year contract a few years ago, the chiefs don’t have to worry about that for another 7 years +
let's be real. mahomes could be paid $250M a year and he'd still be underpaid for what he brings to the table. his contract is not a good measurement to base the rest of the league on.
Blame the Lions!

It would be hilarious if dude signed a massive extension, then got hurt immediately at the first practice and was out for the year, take all this precaution and stuff it, it’s not like that specific situation has happened, imagine guarding against a situation that’s never occurred
He’s a Diva just like Rodgers. He knows he doesn’t deserve a top tier QB contact but will milk the cheese right out of FGB.
He struggled when he had basically nothing but rookies that were playing their first NFL games.....can we not act like he came out with true WR1 and WR2 and a star studded RB. Jones was also hurt a lot of games. Defense underperformed too. Yes small sample size but he showed he can def improve and learn from mistakes.
Remember when Nick Foles had one of the greatest one half of a season runs? The guy was breaking and tying records... Then what happened? Yeah, signing Love off this small amount of good play is dumb.
Letting him walk is dumber 😂

@@Ryan-wx1bi Contract is an nfl "contract". As in fake, bullshit. Nothing but nonsense on paper. He can just sit and then show up a few games into the season. Destroy their season. Still get paid. And next year franchise or walk. Then they are the browns for a decade or two.
@@rustinpeace9303 I base it on him having one year left on his deal and him holding all the cards. While the team is in Wisconsin, and couldn't buy a qb if their life depended on it. If he leaves they are the browns or worse. No one wants to play there. Either pay up or trade him. He shouldn't (and won't) step foot on that field without a new deal. Which is why they will pay him, and then you will act confused as to why they had absolutely no choice in doing so. This is the nfl and this is how their fake "contracts" get handled. By players and the teams.
Crazy that a whole fan base called Caleb Williams a diva and now look who the diva is 😂
Watching everyone and their mother in the NFL media landscape trying to make this into a high drama contentious stand off is absolutely hilarious. This is almost a non-issue. Love is in the building, he's doing everything but taking reps on the field. This is just protecting from injury until the deal gets finalized. All is good in green bay.
If you don't sign your QB you're starting over. Would you cry if you had to start over after losing Tua? Only if you don't have a backup plan.
These guys made light of the possibility of Sean Clifford playing, but I watched Clifford play last preseason and he's no joke. The truth is, the Packers could start Clifford and there wouldn't be a steep drop-off at quarterback.
These QBs think they have their teams by the b__s whe they sit out and demand $$$$$$$$, And the teams oblige, and pay out and sign them. Then they get injured and sit out most of the season on IR. Crazy.
1 year's worth of football and a 9-8 record. He lost to the Giants and Tommy Cutlets late in the year. And he beat a horrible Dallas team that had just become the ONLY team with a winning record that Miami beat all year. Like I keep saying, who's going to be the next Cleveland with Watson or Denver with Wilson? Wasting all that guaranteed money for what?
Boo-hoo cry about it. Lawrence's contract is the real ridiculous one for a underachieving number 1 pick. At least Love made it his first year as a starter. Beginning of the season, Lafleur had Love playing with a "leash", once he opened up the playbook that's when they started winning. Do you even watch football? 😂
@@static1217Lawrence had one of the worst NFL coaches ever in Urban Meyer his rookie year, so I forgive him for that.
@@farakhhanif I agree Urban was a disaster from the start. With that said, doesn't make up for his own shitty play on the field. And he hasn't taking any big leaps towards justifying that #1 pick selection.
@@static1217 I agree he hasn't lit it up. He improved his second year, but he also took a step back during his third year, but he was playing through injuries. He really needs to prove himself this upcoming year.
@@static1217 Oh, I'm not forgetting about Jax. That dude hasn't done crap worth being the highest paid, or even close to it. Or Arizona with Murray. Or the Giants with Jones. But that's my point -- where are those teams? Are they making the Super Bowl? Arizona just had the #4 overall pick, and the Giants just had the #6 overall pick. You overpay those QB's all that money with them having done crap, and you cripple your team because you can't pay the other good players properly, so they leave.
I'm not a Packers fan, or a Miami fan or a Dallas fan. So trust me, I hope they each overpay their QB's as the highest paid in the league as they take turns. And the longer and higher the guarantee, the better.
Love only had a little more than a handful of good games, and now he's being crowned a franchise QB?
Daniel Jones did the same thing… look how that ended

Good luck with that salary cap, Mr. GM wannabe.
Cowboys fans know all the no-name offensive weapons for the Packers because they all shredded their team at home in Dallas.
Couldn't have happened to a better team....
Signed Aaron Jones.
Jordan Love is still under contract he is not fulfilling. Where is the story in that?
Maybe not a big contract but bigger than a rookie contract, reason must be used along with common sense. Yes they need someone to run the offense but he’s not a big name player.
The packers has never had to pay an african american quarterback. Thats the hold up in my oppion
Jordan Love is making a huge mistake.
Gutes be talking to Hear Himself Speak. He'll lose his Job when he messes this up. Because it's Not going to be done before Week 1

I believe it’s a mistake man of the system

Love is way overrated. Had a good half a year now he want big money.. Should never happen if he is under contract then stop paying him if he doesn't practice.. What is a contract good for if the player doesn't abide by it.. If it was him being benched or cut hes getting exactly what is in the contract.. Because he knows if he is cut or benched what he will receive and agreed to it.. What a joke the NFL is along with the players that cry i want more or I'm not playing 😢

Jaguars screwed the Packers. Lawrence ain’t deserve that contract.
Jordan love wins one playoff game and now he thinks he’s Aaron Rodgers? Do you really think you don’t need to work on your timing with your receivers before the season starts at practice where people aren’t even allowed to hit the quarterback. You know they wear that different color jersey that tells you not to hit them. What’s the matter? Is Jordan love going to break a nail. he should hit up Caleb Williams and ask him for advice on nail polish.
No hate from me , but he’s only played one season so he’s already up for a big contract ?

Sensationalist claptrap. He’s just not doing on field reps
Not trying to hate on J Love, I think he's great, but it's crazy how you play well for half a season and instantly think you deserve top dollar. I know that's how the NFL works nowadays, but it's just crazy. That being said, I hope he continues to play well

@@andrew.van5 given the repeated precedent set by franchise QB contracts in the NFL, wouldn't jordan love be foolish for not pursuing the maximum long term earning potential? it's simple supply and demand. if there were a bigger supple of qualified franchise QB candidates then the contracts wouldn't inflate this way.
@@jobunaga4178 You're 100% right on J Love. He of course should be pursuing as much money as possible. He'd be foolish not to. I guess what I'm trying to say is it's crazy how in today's NFL how teams have to just pay up and not "reset" the market by saying "No, we won't pay that much given you've only performed well for ___ years (or whatever)." The league will never be that way, but it's just interesting to me. And to your point, if a team were to pass up on paying a QB, it's hard to find a "qualified franchise QB candidate" to replace them with.
Gutekunst dug a hole when he drafted Love and now he's asking for a bigger shovel. That's just malpractice. He made a mistake in drafting Love without also trading Rodgers. Niner's offered three firsts a short time later, IIRC. Imagine having Love on a rookie contract and an outrageous amount of draft capital?
