It means they don't want you. They married you for a reason. After getting what they want, they will abuse you till you leave, and then you take the blame for leaving. It's better you leave because it gets worse, and eventually they will leave when you are old and have no future again. Don't care about society or church and save yourselves.
If you want to follow and care about what people will say, or judge you then your life and your children are not important to you. Depression, emotional abuse causes so many disease. Like hypertension
