    Metals is probably one of the best albums of 2010's, such a great acoustic orchestral organic sound.

    I had the chance to see Feist perform in concert recently at an outdoor venue, and her show was by far one of the most intimate and energetic I have ever seen. She is as lovely and gracious with her audience as any of the live videos I have seen make her out to be, and her talent for song writing is unmatched by many of her peers. She's a true Canadian treasure!

    I first heard Leslie while watching a bit of Sesame Street on youtube with my granddaughter. We listened to "Four," the Sesame Street version. I love her voice and her spirit. Like a flower child she is.

    "a shortening of the distance between listener and performer" such a perfect way to describe her music, sounds like a live show with limited post mixing.

    she has something in her face that reminds me a little bit Patty Smith when she was younger.. I remember that her producer was a french Canadian called "Fernandez" or something like that.. I don't know if she has the same producer now.. she seems to stay far away from the "star system" (so much the better..)
    Greetings from Paris, France to all!

    Good interesting album.I guess interviewing musicians is not an easy skill always to learn and perfect.
    I would hate to be a recording artist and to be doggedly asked to rationalize very instinctive, kind of dream-like and intuitive creative processes.

    I was a HUGE fan of the first couple Feist albums. The thing I liked about it was the interplay between the more rough and ready, punk/folk rooted musicality combined with a more calculated jazzy, funky, soulful approach. It created something genuinely unique. If you take away all of those less "alt" sort of traits, we're left with something far less unique. I hate to see an artist go from truly unique to less unique. Kind of like the first decade of the Roots' career. I gave it a full couple listens and was truly disappointed with this new album. Metals was a hard enough pill to swallow. I just couldn't take this one. I'm still a fan and my hopes remain high for her future output.

    • @Whuditlooklike
      @Whuditlooklike 7 лет назад +13

      LOL I never thought I would see someone compare the Roots early output to Feist's - talk about apples and oranges.
      Perhaps your disappointment with this album is more reflective of your own personal taste than of Feist having become less "unique," as you put it. After all, something being unique is not indicative of quality in and of itself. Furthermore, I think some of Feist's early work seems comparatively immature in hindsight - an artist dabbling in various sounds because she hadn't really determined which one best suits her. I honestly don't want to hear Feist doing Bee-Gees/Nina Simone covers at this point.

    • @geoffstockton
      @geoffstockton 7 лет назад

      Landon Brown LOL her early work is immature on comparison? You aren't a musician are you?

    • @Whuditlooklike
      @Whuditlooklike 7 лет назад +7

      Nope, I'm not. I suppose my opinion is disqualified then, shucks. As we all know, only musicians are capable of having or voicing opinions on music. And I apologize, as I didn't realize I was talking to THE guitar legend Geoff Stockton. I mean, Feist should be taking lessons from YOU dawg!

    • @mimidallas9503
      @mimidallas9503 7 лет назад +6

      In what sense albums like Metals and Pleasure are less unique than Reminder or Let it Die ? You basically only liked her very easily listenable material and the albums that require the most effort from the listener (but are very generous when u yield them) failed to make an impact on you. Pleasure is pure passion, Feist at her most honest and raw moment. Lyrically she has matured so much. Its not for those who are searching for hooks and easily memorable melodies from the Reminder though.

    • @travellinghat
      @travellinghat 7 лет назад +1

      Spot on comment Mimi, I agree 100%. I can relate to the OP because that's happened to me, where an artist's music evolves and it's just not your bag, but with Feist I'm fully along for the ride. I gotta disagree with the idea she's become less unique. Let It Die, for example, had some very obvious musical influences (the French stuff?) where she was emulating styles. Nowadays I feel she has a much more unique sound of her own. But you can't please everyone.
