Something my best friend said to me 20 years ago when we were 14 is "No one wants to be the bad guy in their own story" and I still think about that nearly every day.
Yuval Noah Harari, is trying to convey the idea that humanity's progress in information technology does not necessarily equate to better decision-making or a decrease in self-destructive behavior. Harari argues that despite our advancements in gathering and disseminating information, we often fall prey to misinformation, flawed narratives, and our preference for simplicity over complexity, leading to poor choices. He wants the reader to understand that the real challenge lies not in the availability of information but in our ability to discern truth from falsehood and to resist the allure of emotionally appealing but potentially harmful narratives.

Yuval Noah Harari stands as one of the most brilliant and unique intellectuals of our time, a modern-day Socrates who challenges us to reflect deeply on the world and ourselves. His genius lies not only in his profound insights but in his remarkable ability to distill complex concepts at the intersection of science, technology, philosophy, and history into clear and approachable explanations. Harari is a master storyteller who bridges the gap between academic rigor and popular understanding, making transformative ideas accessible to a global audience. What sets Harari apart is his ability to synthesize vast historical knowledge and project it into the future, offering an informed and visionary perspective on the challenges and opportunities humanity faces. From Sapiens, where he unpacks the sweeping history of our species, to Homo Deus and 21 Lessons for the 21st Century, he connects past patterns with emerging trends, helping us grasp the profound implications of advancements like artificial intelligence and biotechnology. His work invites us to think critically about ethics, identity, and what it means to be human in an age of rapid change. Harari's capacity to see the broader picture and provide nuanced guidance makes him a voice we must listen to. Through his teachings, we are not only reminded of the lessons of history but also empowered to navigate the uncharted waters of the future with wisdom and clarity.
Harari emphasizes that information networks, composed of shared stories, beliefs, and values, are the glue that holds societies together. He argues that these networks, more than individual brilliance or even physical resources, determine the course of history. For example, he points out that the United States, despite its deep political divisions, remains unified in its belief in the dollar. This shared story, even if not reflecting an objective reality, provides a common ground for cooperation. This concept helps the reader understand why controlling and shaping information is so crucial for those in power.

Nice parallel between information and music, and if whatever is said is information, it works: in this perspective, truth corresponds to harmonic theory, etc. (which is complex and not very exciting, at least for most people). But if we consider information as it is commonly understood, that is, communication of facts, of truth, things change: people enjoy listening to music, and seek pleasure in it; as far as news, journalists, politicians and so on, people expect the truth... and instead often receive squalid and misleading stories (and the difference between a music lesson and a concert is clear... as well as why the above mentioned people seek the audience of a concert instead of that of a music lesson)

Where is his intellect when it opposes his country's colonial history and present? Obviously he adopts what most israelis do: gods' chosen people and their promised land. Not a scientist but a clever, story telling wizard.
Well he is a historian and understands that nearly every culture and people live on land stolen from its indigenous people like America, Israel, Spain, differing regains and countries in Africa and Europe, the Mediterranean countries, the pacific islands, Australia, India, Tebet, vast regions of china, even the stories of the aztec and and maya. As a historian he has the sight of historical behavior and can fully personally comprehend and sympathies with both the perceived perpetrators and the perceived victims of these cultural competitions.

He said: "information is not knowledge". Knowledge involves intelligence, character, education, discernment, moral values, life experience, wisdom. It takes work and dedication.
Fact that hey value the dollar is all i need to know
You've lost all credibility by showcasing this fraud. Unsubbed.
Say what?.
This person will be instrumental in the deception of the world!
GOD bless you in Jesus name! ❤
So, one day we're gonna

THE TRUTH is not the author of confusion n complexity but clarity 😊. worldly knowledge n wisdom will always be inferior to THE HEAVENLY .Darvinism is hypothesis even not science.THE TRUTH IS BITTER, and subject of spirit but deception more convincing, sensual n pleasurable with mass appeal.
It already has
Make sure you write some books and keep them in the hardcover paper for now as many as you can I've been printing😢
The music composed by the AI is artificial. It is SOULLESS.
I am afraid I cannot quite agree with Harari about "good intentions" or "misinformation" as source of cruelty. E.g. Inquisition torturing people may get sadistic pleasure of their deeds, but they cannot openly express that. So their sadism may be hidden behind some ideology.
I was listening his lessons about human history and was fascinated by his brilliance; and now this, completely stunned, this anecdotal type of luddite propaganda was always here, we were told that printing press would trigger Apocalypse, then automobile, now AI, not approved
I am not antisemitic. In fact I am semitic. However, i question Yuval's sense of morality because he lives on land stolen from its indigenous people and yet feels perfectly fine with it! Where is his intellect when it opposes his country's colonial history and present? Obviously he adopts what most israelis do: gods' chosen people and their promised land. Not a scientist but a clever, story telling wizard.
Standing on stolen pand.
The truth is costly as he says :(
It's more like 1984
Intellectualism 101. It's a bit depressing that this extremely simple discussion of some very basic ideas is presented as if it's some cutting edge contribution to philosophy of the human condition. I agree with Yuval, but it's a pity he doesn't say anything interesting.
Curse be to those who created AI
Dangerous man.
Yes, ignorants and fanatics hate him
Nice checkered floor you all have there.
Yuval needs to stop talking about AI. Really shows his lack of understanding and experience with it. Spend a year with ChatGPT, really learning about it and comprehending it and then see what the reflection would be.
Come on you should know what the truth is we're all adults here come on 15:04 😮
It’s unfortunate that trump, who never read a book, does not have the capability to understand Noah’s discussion about humanity.
Maybe AI will save Earth from humans.
382k views and only 62 likes? 😂😂 wonder what the dislikes are...
You're confusing subscribers with viewers.
Also, as far as I am concerned, I "like" this video very much, but I'm not going to hit the like button, as I want to keep my list of liked videos in my account manageable.
You're right I saw that number when I went to close the video. 😂
Fake music is real😊

Harari is a dangerous person. All he does is scaremonger and never offers any practical solutions smh
Unfortunately, I think you’re right. In that sense, he is certainly overrated. Sad.
Because it is hard to find solutions. But we always need to know the status quo
@@jayo3074 Agreed. He is a social commentator who defines the Zeitgeist. There’s always been many of them, and they earn their living by talking. Nothing wrong with that, but it’s hardly earned h-shattering.
A bad receipt but physics are narrow and can't be manipulated. You are lost , don't be ashamed !
My mission on Earth is to Make All GOD Again
My mantra for it is Make Advaita Gospel Align

Why is this guy being pitched as the all knowing guru? What a bunch of crap!
This advocat of rationality tries to sell us the untruth that everything is just "stories". When will we learn that Mr. Harari is a very, very sloppy thinker.
