I was counting (accounting for) my sorrows in this world - You kept coming into my mind numerous (uncountable) times.
Faiz Sahab wrote this in Hyderabad Central prison on conspiracy charges - he clearly was missing all the loves of his life. try and read the full poem ... Its just unbelievable.
Beautifully delivered poetry by the best poet of our time (at least of mine). Ali Sethi does justice to Faiz Sahab.

First of All Very good efforts for translation and thanks for additional information like where this gazal was written.
And surely Ali has sang it very well but I would like to point out that Original composition is of Ustad Mehdi Sahab and the way he sang is totally unmatchable...ofcourse this can be tribute to Faiz Sahab, Iqbal Bano ji and Mehdi Sahab.
