As an adult now i completely forgot how to play lol. When my kids asked me to play with them i had to look up the rules. Thanks for making this easy video
What happens if you are the first to run out of cards but someone else has the same number of books? Does the person who ran out of cards first still win?
Yes, I agree it is a great game for kids. You might not want to say, "I'm gonna explain the crap of that game". I was gonna use it for my 4 grade English students. Hahahah
I love your question-it reminds me of a time when my friend and I were little kids and he tried something similar! The answer is: No, you don’t get to go again right away. You need to "fish your wish" to have another turn. But the good news is, you do get to put the book down!
Be careful! If you guys can get through the entire fish pond without one match you will be the most unlucky Go Fish players in the universe. A wormhole will open up in the center of the table and suck you all into another dimension. Then you guys will just play without drawing from the pond, and the first person to get a match wins. At that point you will all be transported back to earth. :)
hi so can i ask...so on the first time you ask, you ask for a 7 then moana give you her two 7 so now you have three 7's, now you'll ask again.. here's my question.. can you ask another player the same card? can you ask him or her if she/he have a 7? or not?
Hi Killowski! Great question. There is a version of this game where the last person asked gets to go. But In this version, you go clockwise. I think that’s the best way to play!
What do you mean by "if you draw the card you asked for you get to go again" you mean ask another player for a card or draw another card from the top of the deck or fish pond?
Old comment, I know, but in Hoyle PC Games, he usually means going to ask another player for a card. Because drawing the card you asked for is technically getting the card you wanted/needed, it acts as though you've taken one from a player, even though the pond is not a player. What this means is, it's essentially a lottery game.
I disagree on the rule where you get to go again when somebody has already told you to go fish. that's like double dipping or triple dipping, isn't it?
Hi! Thanks for the question. When you run out of cards in the fish pond the game is over. Whoever has the most books is the winner and if they have the same amount it’s a tie.
I heard the expression "Go Fish" but had no idea WTF it was. Have watched Season 1 Episode 7 "War of the Cheeks" of The Boss Baby: Back in the Crib on Netflix. The family plays game of Go Fish but with animal cards. The game makes no sense to me. A player asks another player if they have a certain card. The other play could just lie and say they don't have it. Who keeps track of what was asked and what others' replies are? I am a PhD Mathematician. I love proving theorems. I love mathematically modeling things, including modeling law and justice and politics, my own way. I admire the modeling game theorists have done (e.g. John Nash), but I have never believed that their way is anything special or unique. I love proving things about infinite classes of games, complexity classes. But, I have zero interest in playing any actual games. Never have.
This might help it make more sense: this is a game for young kids and it relies on the honor system. If you’re looking for a game that requires more strategy, I recommend you check out my videos on Spades and Gin Rummy. Both are easy learn but offer depth of play.
What is going to stop anybody from lying and asserting they don't have some certain type of card? Nobody is going to keep track of that and what cards players have after many rounds.
These videos are much appreciated during this covid-19 stay-at-home...thank you!
Card games are a great way to pass the time with your family and have a little fun! I hope all is well.
I second this, been watching and playing new games with the family during quarantine
I have not played this card game in years, and now that my little ones are old enough we can play as a family. Thank you for your brief tutorial.
As an adult now i completely forgot how to play lol. When my kids asked me to play with them i had to look up the rules. Thanks for making this easy video
Literally why I'm here now lol. My wife and I both were mistaken on the rules 😅
I hope this helped! 😃
@@Rulieswhere to get the cards form
@pac-superau The cards used in this video are vintage cards originally sold in Honolulu. Thanks for asking!
@@Rulies ok happy uwu
Love how you made this simple. This inspired me to make a game with sign language cards for the kids.
What happens if you are the first to run out of cards but someone else has the same number of books? Does the person who ran out of cards first still win?

Thank you for this easy explained way to play this game!! Could you explain Speed, plz? 😆
if you pull a card from the pile that completes another book in your hand BUT not the book you asked for do you still continue with your turn

Good Question Cassandra! Yes, you can do that!
I have a question! How do the turns work? Is it clock wise or whoever was asked last?
Hi Killowski! Great question. There is a version of this game where the last person asked gets to go. But In this version, you go clockwise. I think that’s the best way to play!
What about uf I ran out if cards in middle of the game
IS IT JUST ME OR DID THE JACK AND THE QUEEN JUST KISSED
Scandalous!
It's Jack and Queen from Kaitou Joker

Me too! I loved this game as a kid.
Him: hi I am gonna explain that crap out of that game-
Me: dayum man
😆 Love this comment!
Thanks man
why not mix and spread the deck on the table to. ake it easier to fish from?
No they must say "Fishy Fishy give me all your_____"
Can you ask for a card that you don’t have on your hand?
Instructions unclear: ended up swimming in a fish pond for my card
I play in pairs with my 6-year-old and I show no mercy.
Strike first, strike hard, no mercy.
What if u run out of ur fish pond & nobody has won yet? That happened with my daughter & I just now lol
Hi! Thanks for the question. When you run out of cards in the fish pond the game is over. Whoever has the most books is the winner and if they have the same amount it’s a tie.
You can say something like "Bob, do you have any 3s?" if you have some 3s in your hand
Thanks

bruh the dancing cards at the start 0:17 - 0:19
It’s true
I ever played this game card on PS1. Who has more four kind sets, is win. And who hasn't cards on hands = win too by without has four kind sets.
I never tried it on the PS1. Which do you like better, the PS1 version or playing it with real cards?

The fact that its called go fish and the 'other player' is called moana
Love that
Can you teach how to play nerts
Nerts! Heheh I love the name for some reason.
Keep your cards secret from your opponents!
I'd call "Go Fish" as "Find Scraps" and the "Book of Cards" nah it is "Collection of Scraps"
I never heard that one before. You could call it ... Junkyard!
100 iq play dude! thanks bro! Ur so cool!!!!
Yeah should do a video on cookout or karma

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHAT "FOUR OF A KIND MEANS" RIGHT OFF THE BAT? Give an EXAMPLE please!!!!!! Sick of no video giving an example
Hey Josh, kind means the value of the card, here’s an example: Queen of ♥️, Queen of ♣️, Queen of♦️, Queen of♠️. Hope that helps!
