I love the way you create an eerie atmosphere yet still investigate reasonable explanations for the legends.
If you're looking for another haunted planation in Louisiana, checked Loyd Hall Planation in Cheneyville. The founder, William Loyd, was accused of being a spy and hanged in front of the planation and is said to wander the halls. People have reported aroma of food being cooked when there is nobody in the kitchen. A Union deserter is said to play a violin on the roof and a lady who fell to her death from the third-window is said to play the piano.

I can't even begin to imagine how horrifying it was for Chloe to be sent back to work directly after the master had just cut off her ear.

I could listen to this guy read the phone book. So when the topic is as interesting as this I'm all ears! (pun not intended, Chloe - apologies!) 👍

Ladies and gents, while I typically enjoy the Southern Gothic podcast, there NEVER was a slave named Chloe who resided on that property. Historical fact. No idea why the tour guides continue to perpetuate this nonsense. It is quite easily researched. I believe the home is haunted; just not by a spirit named Chloe.

This is correct, and a discussion of this legend (as well as that of Cleo) is included in the podcast, as well as a breakdown of stereotypes that have been exploited in the manufacture of these tales.

I’ve been saying this. I’m black and from Louisiana BR. I have gone a few tours never seen nothing but a cabin door that opened up by itself. I said they may have some sleek device or something. Went one more time with a friend three days ago. They let you take pictures anywhere in the house now. This time I’m not lying there was a ghost face in the picture of mirror back by the stairs. It look like a little boy with black eyes and an almost see through. Looked on line and Another person had a similar picture in the background by the curtains except it was a little girl. They both had the same makeup like see through. I wouldn’t believe it until I saw for my self

They say…..Don’t cross the one who has access to your toothbrush. Karma has everyone’s address; Everyone’s!
The account of fellow slaves having hanged Chloe is reaching. Although slaves often were commissioned into the service of assisting in hangings, were ALWAYS lead by the master of the plantation.
