    It really is criminal how underrated you are, in terms of popularity.
    You have a way of adding interesting complexity to the simpler game themes, in a way I've not seen on youtube.

    You've set out to arrange a grand medley of Legend of Zelda fittingly titled "The Hero"
    and in doing so, you have become "My Hero"
    Phenomenal arrangements, if I didn't know any better I'd never imagine you've had issues with hand pain at all.

    • @Verdegrand
      @Verdegrand  5 лет назад +3

      Thank you very much! I'm happy to hear this. Glad to be "Your Hero" :) Also thank you for the feedback regarding the arrangements and how you perceived them. I'm currently editing my performances to compensate for the problems that I have. It's a lot of work but I can achieve really decent results by doing that. So it's good to hear that it's convincing. The actual issues haven't gotten better yet but my situation has changed dramatically over the past few years and I am on a really good path now. Have a great Sunday.

    Don't know what to say Verdegrand. I don't know how you manage to surpass yourself in every upload, but somehow you do. This is as close to perfect as a piano arrangement and performance of video game music can be. This is exactly what it is about, making piano covers that are enjoyable and beautiful on their own, even if you haven't heard the original music, and even though there are no other instruments to back you up. Both hands have just enough variation to always keep it interesting without sounding overdone. I'll keep this on repeat for many days to come!

    • @Verdegrand
      @Verdegrand  5 лет назад +10

      Thank you for your very supportive comment. Making and recording these arrangements takes a lot of time and work and it's really good to know there are people who appreciate this, because in general I'd think that arrangements like these have fallen out of appreciation on RUclips nowadays for whatever reason, when compared to many years ago.

      Yes indeed. It is a shame. Especially when they are so well put together.
      The transition from lost ancient ruins into Death Mountain ♥
      The way you forshadowed with the left hand while the right finished the melody really gave me a Castlevenia throwback :D
      New Messiah to Aquarius if I remember correctly.
      It shows that you really put a lot of thought to ways to intertwine your melodic components. Brilliant!

  • @BreezyBeej

    Every arrangement you make breathes a new emotion into the song you chose and it layers right on top of the original feelings of the song.
    You have a way of preserving the original piece while still interpreting it. That's why you are my primary source for piano music. You take the familiar and play it from a slightly different angle.

    • @Verdegrand

    I listened regularly to your Castlevania Medley (I'm a big fan of Castlevania) since 2010, and since I follow you without letting any comment, and I feel ashamed for that. As a pianist myself, who loves to improvise and mix styles, especially jazz/blues and classic/baroc, I love so much all of your work. It's truly amazing, inspired, and only you can play and think like this. Everything is so good, I love it so so much, your amazing, not only because you are ofc a really good musician, but because you play with your heart, and I'm really sensible to this. Thank you for sharing, I enjoyed it so much. Keep up the good work. (also, it's surely not a good thing to "request" anything, but I always dreamed of a good cover of the Fat Princess Theme on piano. I try to play it myself and put some jazz in it, but I'm far as good as you are. I suggest you to take a look at this understimate song. I think it suits to your style very well.) Best wishes.

    I have been waiting for a long time to watch a new medley! In the past you took the concept to the next level, not only in the arrangements themselves, but in the entire audiovisual experience you managed to craft! Considering how you have changed, I was expecting something much less "grand" and "ambitious"... something that would not feel like (what I consider to be) that mythic level of "medley design" that your legacy has... however, this blew my mind!! I can feel the same excitement that I felt in the days of the old medleys! Congratulations for the grand project!! This is ultra-professional and awe-inspiring!

    • @Verdegrand
      @Verdegrand  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you for saying this! I mentioned to a few other commenters who doing these projects takes a lot of time and work, and that it's good to see people who appreciate that. Because it's easy to dismiss with the content you tend to see in this community nowadays on RUclips. It looks like some of my earlier medleys have impacted people in various ways, and that they feel like this medley does it again in a similar fashion. And that is good to know because I have a lot of ideas for more medleys and larger projects. Anyway, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it that you would write these things, thank you again. Have a great Sunday.

      Thank you very much. I think aLttP is often regarded a fan favorite in the series, and also an important game in that it lays a lot of foundations that later installments refer back to. The angle is a bit problematic indeed, but it's much easier for me to set up and work with it than using other angles. I'll definitely have to improve my camera game in the future, but right now, there are other things that I need to prioritize. Thank you for taking the time to comment!

    The tracklist seems to look like the medley FamilyJules did for this game, both versions are amazing. Love your content.

      Thank you! The tracklist is somewhat similar although there's some pieces missing in each of them when you compare. For the most part I think we just have a very similar taste, and the tracks are just really good. But I did watch his medley quite a bit last year and that one short segment is definitely inspired by his arrangement.

    I was waiting impatiently for this medley, and I am not disappointed : those are unquestionably the best piano arrangements I've ever listen of pieces from this game. Thanks you so much, and keep it up. There's so much video game's themes I'd like to heard under your fingers : Undertale's themes, Dark Souls & Bloodbornes themes... Please keep it up.
    A part of the ending of your medley made me think of "soahc0" 's arrangement of the ending theme from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening ! Is it the good RUclipsr ? :)
    (sorry for my awful english, I'm french)

      Thank you very much. There is a lot of great music from the soundtracks you mention that I would eventually love to play. Especially Bloodborne and Souls. I'll do it when the time is right. I have seen saohc0's Link's Awakening video, it is generally held in high regards by fans of the soundtrack, although I must admit the arrangement style is very different from mine. I haven't spent much time with it personally, but the arrangements do look very challenging.

    I was wondering if you have any sheet music for this. I love The Legend of Zelda series and A Ling to the Past is one of my all time favorite games. This was an absolutely amazing arrangement, and as a painist myself, I would like to try and play this. Alas, I haven't the ears to decipher a ten minute arrangment, so if you have the sheet music or the time to make it, I would be overzelous. I have been a fan of yours since I found your Positive Force arrangement (oh so many years ago), and I have loved your works since then.

      Thank you very much for saying that. Yeah these are my arrangements and there's unfortunately no sheets yet. But there might be in the future if a transcription can be arranged. Thanks for being supportive. Kind regards

    Exceptional arrangement!! And one of my dearest gaming soundtracks from my childhood. Any chance we can get sheets for that masterpiece? Having played your Castlevania Medley, I can say that this is right up there with it, or even more fascinating. Would love to play myself!

      @Verdegrand  5 лет назад +1

      Hello, thank you very much. It's great to hear you played the Castlevania Medley, thank you for taking the time to learn and play it. I don't know when there will be sheets for this, because that would be a ton of work. Probably not anytime soon. Making sheets is something that is generally on my mind, but I have to prioritize other stuff at this moment. When the time is right and when everything falls in place, I think it would come natural that I start making sheets.

      w3sp's videos are classics, used to binge watch them in the days when I found RUclips. It's too bad he isn't active anymore in the same way as he used to be.

    Wow, awesome. Thank you for taking me down the memory lane of my childhood. Well, it's back to practicing "the fairy theme" on piano for me ;-)...

      @Verdegrand  5 лет назад

      Thank you. Yeah this music is very nostalgic for a lot of people. I ended up discovering that the same applies to me as well. Good luck with learning the Fairy theme, it's quite hard to play when you compare to how it sounds, but it's worth it in the end!

      Thank you very much, happy to hear you enjoyed it. As for sheets, it will take a long time until I can get around making them. It's something that's in the back of my head but I have to prioritize other things at the moment. As soon as the time is right though, I will start making more sheets in general.

    • @Verdegrand
      @Verdegrand  5 лет назад

      Thank you. The Ice Palace is often regarded as the hardest place in the game, right? I haven't played that part in a long time and can barely remember. Just that you had to use your fire rod to light torches from afar and that you're sliding around invisible platforms. Was quite a chore as far as I remember. Good luck :)

      Thank you for the suggestion. I actually posted it, and there were a few people who were very supportive in their own way, but it didn't go far. I'm currently having a lot of issues getting any decent amount of views, and I think it's gonna stay that way for a longer while. But I'm confident that it's gonna happen when the time is right. It's only a matter of time. Have a great Sunday!
