Thank you for supporting the game! :-)
You're welcome! Really love the game. Great story and tons of atmosphere. Awesome work! :)
This game is beautiful
Nicely done on the mapping. Also the fact there are 2 maps on the same rooms for different point of views, is a very nice touch.
Legendary atmosphere made up. Thanks for your work :)
The game doesn't work on windows 11...
Note: This game features alternate nightmarish routes in certain areas depending on your actions. I've edited both routes (or sometimes just the best route) into the video to try and give a complete experience (more scares and more story).
The secret room that's unlocked at the end of the game is the room you access through the cafe (shown in the video at around 01:28:07). It contains character sketches and other little Easter eggs.
The scariest part of this game to me is the times on that school schedule
30:41
1:59:31 The pictures on the wall, slowly transforming into horrors. Freaky, and I love it!
It's nice to see an old game engine like RPG Maker 2003 to power a game as solid as this.
Probably helps that it's got unique qualities of its own that aren't replicated by newer versions.
Hey ABG, just wanna say that I’m happy for your channel getting bigger!
You shining light on REALLY good Indie games doesn’t go under-appreciate from me broski! 🙏🏽
Luv from DownUnda! ✌🏽❤️ 🇦🇺
After seeing the finale I am now sure that it wasn't an accident that you, as a girl, walked up only to the urinals in that bathroom somewhere early in the game. It connects to the fact the guy in the end had your clothes and hair colour. Perhaps even the name Cora was an allusion to "core" (personality).
I like the Cora/Core theory! The guy thing also explains why when you phone the police can say your name is Cora, they call you "Sir" and think you're pranking them.
@@AlphaBetaGamer Yes, I noticed that. Also when you see the shadow fall on the tracks for the first time there are three other shadows, possibly representing Cora, Ivee and Anthony.
Oh I missed that! Well spotted. That's a nice touch!
@@AntipaladinPedigri Which timeframe please? I did not caught it either, thanks in advance.
no idea what you are talking about.
but when I can tell, this is a pretty good designed game.
is old school style, but is still modern.
hope there is next season for this.
I love this channel, I get involved in small and gut wrenching stories only for a few hours or minutes. Digest the whole thing, have a deep reflection on the themes and characters and then go on with my life.
Not even five minutes in and I find the changing the angles of the camera in a rpg game to be super neat :3
Another well inspired Silent hill reference.. gameplays are always 🔥
Best channel for neat indie games.
I appreciate the intros and outros.
You're never running around aimlessly so it's easy to follow along and not get bored.
You don't talk but still manage to give some personality without taking away from the game.
Overall best channel I like to watch for games I can't play cause no PC.
🤗
Really loved this. It's a beautifully told story. Things get pretty freaky in the final act too.
25:47 the missing child looks like a space alien from Scary Movie 3. No wonder there is no reward for finding it.
Yes, it's clearly Silent Hill inspired.
Why ?
*EVERY DOOR IS LOCKED*
Haven't been here in a while. Is the intro new? Because it's new to me... *I like it.*
Thanks! Yeah the intro's quite new. Glad you like it. Welcome back! :)
Please play Aladdin game and Naruto and salior Moon
@@AlphaBetaGamer I've been really busy with College, but things have slowly become more manageable. I've missed your content. It feels good to be back.
This is simultaneously Silent Hill and OFF, which is great
I don't know who makes those intro animations, but they're badass!
Ay, ABG. While the warnings don't affect me, I want to thank you for putting up warnings *anyway.* It's pretty great and thoughtful of you!
That quote is from the skeleton conductor boss from cuphead 0:05
Too scary for RpgMaker
in all honesty? this game needs to be ported onto all
consoles and especially the switch.
15:21 he had a late train to catch
Camera transitions in an RPG maker game, haven't seen that before.
It was a little jarring at first, but I got used to it.
It's so amazing to have an awesome channel like yours on youtube, man. I've been watching your videos since last year and I just can't stop wait for any new indie gem that you're gonna play here. Keep up with the awesome work and I hope your channel keeps growing as awesome as it is right now! :)
Poor Andrew
*p.s : those three were his self consciousness who are trying to get him together to the light
The song at the end sounds very similar to RE1's Long Lost Friend
I can't believe somebody noticed that. :D You're right, it's indeed a new interpretation of RE's "Long Lost Friend" by the incredibly talented Survival Spheres.
great content man, you have a real eye for indie titles that are of high quality. i liked your vids immediately but youve quickly become my number one favorite streamer for this kind of genre. thanks and keep it up
The kids life went off the trails xD
10:11 that's the dummy Christ from the Evangelion anime.
Apropos of nothing: apparently the name Chennerton originally was the name of a noble family from Cornwall.
10:45 apparently the train station is in Sparta.
The camera transitions call back to fixed cameras in the old ps1 survival horrors, but they feel a little clunky from the top down scrolling perspective, right? Or is it just me?
Yeah, the dev cited Resident Evil and Silent Hill as inspirations for the camera transitions. I did find them a little confusing initially, but I came around to them by the end. :)
I broke my back. My back is broken. SPINAL.
First train station.
the warnings mean more than you know :) thanks man
hmm looks like fun gonna give it a go Alpha TY
Thanks for RUclips video and bigger fan
Spoilers!
I thought I detected the faintest whiff of transgenderism in this one, glad to see I was right. It’s pretty clear that the characters in this are all facets of the same person, but it definitely reads to me that while “Anthony” is how the outer world perceives her, Cora is the truest identity here. A LOT of the stuff in this, relating to the bullying and Cora’s feelings about herself, works really well as both a literal interpretation about scoliosis, and as a metaphor for dysphoria. The angsty portrait of a woman titled “me”, the anxiety around locker rooms, the beautiful dress being a delusion, Cora being misgendered by the police, and all the prose around not knowing who you are, how a slight “curvature” which should have been easy to curb ultimately couldn’t be held back. It all hits really close to home actually. Plus, the fact that the only adult male persona, Andrew, doesn’t really exist compared to the others. It certainly doesn’t paint of picture of this person as being a cis man in my opinion.
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :-)
@@Tasuva Thanks for the great game!
Dear ABG, where do you look for all the cool games that you show in your videos?
Why does the heroine look like the blonde, Annie Leonheart from Attack on Titan? Same outfit, except the colour of pants.
Haha, maybe it's the same universe and she's taking a day off. There is actually one titan-sized creature in the game! :)
@@AlphaBetaGamer thanks for RUclips video and bigger fan
@@AlphaBetaGamer That's the second RPG Maker horror game about a train, with a female protag, after Midnight Train. I almost started thinking the devs saw the word "freight train" and went "yeah, fright train! That's a pun right there!"
Also, AoT references greek myths. Cora is the name of the Roman equivalent of Persephone, who later became the goddess of the underworld.
@@AlphaBetaGamer I bet the train is called Shinkansen no Kyojin.
Is their a ending where you just leave?
It's got some good ideas here and there, but it feels too meandering.
👏👏👏👏👏👍
How about a silent hill inspired game called slylent hill and you play as sly cooper in silent hill and there's an anthropomorphic trash can that chases you while dragging around a giant metal lid and he's a metaphor for sly cooper's denial of his baser animal instincts.
Sounds like a normal Sly Cooper game.
That...sounds like a very bad creepypasta.
Where is the secret goals ?
How to access the hidden room after the new game starts?
oh wow another silent hill inspired game haven't seen those in a while!
Hi! Silent Hill's just one of the inspirations for the game. It also daws inspiration from "nightmares and the eerie yet beautiful atmosphere of lost places". But I couldn't fit all that into the title! :)
Last train station.
shite failed APP game
Oh wow this has those old german horror rpg maker vibes
Probably because it was made in RPG Maker
@@ianfinrir8724 Thats not what I meant
This game.is a standalone game.or gas sequel prequel or spin off
Hi! It's a standalone game.
@@AlphaBetaGamer ok thx
I didn't get the lore very well anyone care to explain?
Bullied kid with scoliosis murdered bullies, developed split personalities, got admitted to a hospital, and was on the verge of committing suicide. All characters are just aspects of him and the woman stopped him from dying.
That's my interpretation, at least.
Andrew was bullied because of his scoliosis. He ended up developing a form of DID (all the characters and monsters are his alters) and is now attempting to commit suic!de but the kind, gentle part of his mind convinces him not to.
Maybe it's just me but whenever I play Fatal Frame, Silent Hill, Resident Evil or Dead Space games, the more I found notes, diaries, computer entries, audio tapes or even dialogues/cutscenes with NPCs, the less I care or find it scary.
Trying to find symbolism everywhere at all cost ends up justifying the horror, grounding it to our little egotistic human level. As if "insanity" and "horror" couldn't exist without a human reason: childhood trauma, PTSD, mental sickness, etc.
I'd really love a totally *silent* version of *Silent* Hill, where there's no expository devices.
That sounds... like it would be a very dry, boring, & unimaginative game. No offence intended.
It's just that, without the human elements, horror games would essentially be akin to slaughter-house sims; naught but meat carving.
To each their own, though. If you get your desired game, I'll give it a spin. Who knows; maybe I'll be proven wrong.
@@ChA0s_AgeNt Even Manhunt, a game that takes place on the set of a snuff film has exposition.
@@ianfinrir8724
Indeed. Dude kinda makes it sound like he just wants a murder/death/kill sim.
Which, fair enough. But if you gut all story beats, exposition, dialog & everything else that relates to the characters?
Not even sure that qualifies as horror anymore; it's just pure splatter.
@@ChA0s_AgeNt It could be done more organically by the character taking notes in a journal, with drawings, observations and personal entries (e.g. Uncharted) which the player can access at any time to get the character's knowledge, input and interpretation of the story, slowly revealing information as they progress.
Anything to avoid staring at a static sheet of paper every 5 minutes.
I've been struggling to get into rpgmaker games. I always wish they developed it in a different engine...
Just for pc? and Android?
sprite is blonde but picture is brown lol
Very slow burn...I fell asleep.
Beysiyudful
First!
nice game play demo.... only one little flaw that fucks it up
and i should know, because i design games for living.
when cora is talking to ivie!! and she is stating that her head
hurts like hell? yeah that's a little fuck up flaw, you'd think she
would say something like "my head hurts a lot!"
now that's very understandable.
Why tf is that a flaw?
That's how people talk!
Some people just try to find anything to complain about!
Oof taking inspiration from an overated franchise.
In before people tell me things we already know.
Has several games
Has niche popularity
SH 2 is the best game.
We know people. We have the internet.
And with all relevant knowledge. It is still overrated.
Overused maybe, but not overrated. Also SH3 blows all of them into the stratosphere
Why don't you say something positive for once, Akemi?
What you feel is hype backlash (also called "Seinfeld isn't funny"). In its time it was absolutely a breakthrough, but so many copied it that the original's content became a stale meme and the game/series started to look like it badly plagiarised what it invented. There is an article on hype backlash on tvtropes. It's a good read.
Ok
@@IIEasyLivingII 4 had the cooler story
I don't understand. Was the MC a guy the whole time??
Hi! The MC (and everybody you meet in the game) are all fractured personalities of Anthony (the kid who was bullied because of his Scoliosis). I think the whole game plays out within the mind of Anthony as he's preparing to kill himself by jumping in front of the train. Cora (the MC) manages to reach to to him and stop him at the end though.
