Excellent short film. And didn't Park Square look fantastic in its Autumn colours! Haven't heard about the Aire Park before, so will follow progress with interest. Let's hope as well that the Holbeck Viaduct greenway becomes a reality. Seen from above via your drone, what an asset it could be. Good job, Geog Juice.
Take a look at Millennium Square, where the Mandala gardens are. Dedicated to the great Nelson Mandela, the water feature right next to Civic centre is a stinking disgrace and has not been working for 3 years. Leeds council can build a easten out ring road but can't find funds to repair this feature which was a jewel in the City.
Nelson Mandela on his visit to Leeds talked about how the thought of green spaces helped him in prison, the irony being that the former garden space and flower beds were replaced by Millennium Square.
@@jayp631 Your comment absolutely mirrors my feeling re the murderer Mandela, (who preferred bombs and bullets to peaceful negotiations). However you may have given the city councillors ideas for future commemorative spaces.
This is a step in the right direction, but I wish Leeds had more non-corporate green space closer to the city centre. I loved living in Newcastle; where the vast area known as 'Town Moor' is located just next to the city centre. It is so refreshing to have open green space so close to the pollution, traffic and hustle and bustle of town. I find it very difficult to understand how Leeds can be above Newcastle in the 'green city' table.
I walked through The ‘New Park’ on the south of Leeds centre yesterday with my grandchildren, the gravel has spread throughout the paved area. There were 2 louts attempting to skateboard along the pavements and edging kerbs with total disregard to pedestrians. I object to my council tax being used on ‘fancy projects’ at the whim of the council. My £3,000 could be put to better use.

We should have something to commemorate Sinn Fien or the Talaban then if you think Mandela was great....

The Twenty minute neighborhood plan.
Thanks Robert, I hadn't heard that term. Very interesting!
