Michael Owen's comment about a young Chelsea side that has young players, they will mature and improve with age? How naive is that comment? To think that any club will just rely on youngsters alone, to grow and improve as a team is a ludicrous belief. A club wanting success cannot wait for things to happen. They will bring in other players and most definitely more mature players. Then what happens? The youngsters that haven't moved up in std quick enough will be let go. Or the youngsters finding they are not playing as much as hoped will want a change. It's a business. City has had some players (young ones ) they will continue with, others on the other hand will want or need playing time the club cannot guarantee so they decide to leave. Cole Palmer is a case in point. Pep said he wanted him to stay...he wanted more playing time and asked to go. There's not a criticism of Palmer, not at all, just an example of what happens. I'm just pointing out Owen is dreaming.
