Great video! Love the longer format. Do the cargo extinguishers have something special for lithium battery fires? I imagine this is a particular worry for freighters that may carry big loads of consumer and commercial batteries.
@@david8720 the latest thing for carriage of Lithium battery containing cargo is the fire suppressant blankets that covers the whole pallet. Can take temperatures in excess of 1000 degrees
One course I did for some of my customers I gave them group assignments to look att in-flight fires and one of the results they found was that no flight had made it more than 7 minutes. After 7 minutes they were either on the ground evacuating or they crashed
@@hassebarrefors1612 There are now fire retardant blankets that cover the cargo pallets that can take temperatures past 1000 degrees giving extra time. Several aircraft have made it within 20-30 mins and landed. As nobody gets killed etc….never makes the news…not sensational enough😊
@@Admiral_Jezza design constraints/weight plus most cargo on main deck is now protected in fire suppressant blankets for dangerous type goods. The cabin altitude change is quite effective too
Hello, So living cargo might be "gone" if the cabin altitude reaches 25000ft, right? I didnt get what EVAS is used for. Please, do more of these Emergency Videos.
Thanks Captain, I enjoy your videos. Question: would a main deck fire warning ever be treated differently if you had live cargo, eg horses? I appreciate there’s not much that can be done, other than perhaps confirm an actual fire rather than a false alarm. Thanks, Chris.
@@cristoferomezzatesta2992 procedure would be the same. But with grooms/attendants on board we would likely get an early warning anyway. Additionally, dangerous goods of certain nature are not loaded on such flights- general cargo only
@@traffictraffic not applicable to passenger aircraft as any fire in cabin would be fought with fire extinguishers distributed around the cabin. Emergency landing and evacuation would follow
