I am so pleased to see Santiago Ballerini included in this list. This is a man that I have had the pleasure of meeting several times and I once sang in masterclass that he gave at my university. He is an immensely talented and underrated present day tenor.
Blake in questa aria è irraggiungibile. Note corpose, bellissimo crescendo, acuti limpidissimi, agilità e fiato infinito.
Rocky is by Far the best here! Especially love the added D 😊😊😊 Florez has high notes, and reasonable technique. However -- he is Not an actor, except at the end of Every Aria -- when he turns to the audience with the goofy "Aren't I Great?" Smile For me....Florez = yawn
While I search constantly for a tenor who can come anywhere near to that of JDF, I continue to think he's a once in a lifetime or perhaps many a lifetime tenor. But Jihoon Son's voice grabbed my attention. The more I listen to him on RUclips the more I life him!
I find Florez 2 dimensional as a character, with very little acting ability. He only smiles after he "shows off" his "big high note" at the end of a piece, as if to say "yep, I'm great" ....yawn

I'm a big fan of JD Florez and Lawrence Brownlee but I was very charmed by Chuan Wang. Also, a fairly new tenor isn't in the list, namely Maxim Mironov. The link to his version : ruclips.net/video/Gfo0c7n_Cok/видео.html
Concordo.
Florez is the best Rossini tenor in history, no doubt. The beauty of the timbre, the agility, the style, legato line, passion, high notes, he has everything.
Florez has the style of old tenors "Aren't I Great?" "Yes, I know, you all want me" And THAT is the Limit of his acting ability. Notes, technique, sure. BORING, SELFISH ON STAGE. ....boring Gets a BIG Yawn from me

I am a Florez fan but this time Brownlee gets my vote. Perfect! Who is Santiago Ballarini? Never heard of him but he is not only singing great but also fun to watch!
as we all know that Rockwell Blake is known as the Rossini Tenor,he didn't earn that for nothing,no one could take that away from him so far.. i listened to Blake,Florez,Camarena,Mironov,Araiza, and every video i found on youtube,..but for this aria i like Ramon Vargas version.
There is an american italian tenor who sung around 700 performances of the Count from Barbiere , and Cenerentola a lot and Fille du Regiment around 50 times . In german
Gioachino Rossini: L'Italiana in Algeri Isabella - Marilyn Horne Lindoro - Ernesto Palacio Mustafà - Samuel Ramey Taddeo - Domenico Trimarchi Elvira - Kathleen Battle Zulma - Clara Foti Haly - Nicola Zaccaria Solisti Veneti Orchestra Prague Chorus Conductor: Claudio Scimone rec. 1980(STU) Internet Archive has it, along with a treasure trove of his other recordings. He is a marvelous tenor.
Appears to be an attempt to showcase East Asian tenors…. Where late 20th and early 21st century performance practice has not penetrated. Still singing as if it was the 50’s.
Two Chinese, two South Korean - how is that any different than “showcasing” two Americans? All four of the Asians have been major prize winners, have sung in major US and American houses, and are only in their early 30s. I also call balderdash on your performance practice comment.
The same Singer from the beginning- first time with piano accompanying, last one with Orchestra. After winning the First Richard Tucker Scolarship, this is the opera with which Rocky made his Metropolitan Opera debut - with Marilyn Horne, Ara Berberian, Kathleen Battle.
Is this joke contest ? Here some mediocre tenors , which is still too early to judge, because they have not achieved anything, but no great lèggerò ( Rossini) tenors : Raul Gimenez, Bruce Ford, Luigi Alva, Ernesto Palacio, even young Gregory Kunde! In RUclips plenty of records.
Prettiest voices: Brownlee and Camarena. Technique, competence, command, clear notes, diction, musicality: :Florez and Brownlee. Sorry, guys, but Blake's voice is not right on the note so it sounds too fuzzy.

❤ Blake for President !!!
Me, too!!!
......florez......yawn
Thanks for the great video!
Lawrence Brownlee All day 🔥🔥🔥
Flórez by a thousand miles!

Blake followed by Brownlee for me.

so true. listen to Maxim when he started in A life for the Czar...on youtube
Rocky was a leader in this fach. Without him, would we have Juan Diego, Larry, or Javi?
Absofreakinglutely Agree!!!

rockwell canta 100 veces mejor

Agree!
Florez only wishes he could be as good an actor, as affable/accessible to an audience, and Genuine as Rocky
No Contest
😎😎😊
Florez is the best Rossini tenor in history, no doubt. The beauty of the timbre, the agility, the style, legato line, passion, high notes, he has everything.
Luigi Alva was the best.
@@r.wagner5409Alva had NO top notes. No high C, and no flexibility.

Unfortunately the best is not here. Maestro Araiza, beautifully agile but with a full voice,
Aquí faltó Wiliam mateuzzi y Luigi alba
Alva!
Gioachino Rossini: L'Italiana in Algeri

where is Ramon Vargas, the best?
His acting is 2 dimensional at best, he's only concerned with audience applause at the end
Stiff, inaccessible as an audience
.....Yawn!
Where are Schipa, Lauri-Volpi, and Bruce Ford in this lineup?
Lauri Volpi ? Jajaja cualquier cosa , Volpi cantaba Andrea Chenier y Otello .....
No contest!!! Florez is the best
.......Yawn!
Where is chris merrit, or john osborn?
Levy Sekgapane does it for me...take out Florez, Brownlee of cause lol...
Ugo benelli was one of the very best

Rockwell Blake

Rockwell is just singing wide opened. I am sorry this is not classy.
Bull! If he was singing wide open, he would not have lasted 10 minutes, much less a career of more than 25 years. You armchair critics…
What???
What an odd and ridiculous statement...lolllol
Classy?
What in the World are you talking about?
