- Finally got the dream run without taking damage and using no subweapons. Also purposely avoiding pizzas. This was a fun and challenging run to route and practice. I dedicate this run to my good friend ~thenesmaster~ for helping with strategies for this run and for being the best TMNT player in the world.
Note: This run uses glitches/exploits, so if that's not your thing, check out this run: • TMNT Speedrun Without ...
So it IS possible to get through the electric seaweed without taking damage. Truly amazing! Flexing on Shredder at the end was a nice touch, too.
I played this game as a kid so many times that I ended up finishing the swimming stage without damage.
searched for this as a joke. can’t believe this is even possible.
This brings me joy.
20:18 That's a gigachad run if I ever saw one in a 8-bit video game. Just completely asserting dominance on those jetpack guys and drones. Much respect
5:45 Damn dude! Doing Stage 2 without taking damage AND actually completing it in time.
This is the first time I've watched a speedrun of TMNT. What I couldn't help but notice is that in the background on the final screen where you battle Shredder there are the three Hebrew root letters mem, lamed and chet which mean "king". Maybe that's a tip of the hat to you making it to the final boss or to Shredder himself... or maybe it's just a coincidence.
What a really cool observation!
I applaude you on doing this without taking damage,WOW!! Congrats!
Wow it's a #1 Run for TMNT. I never would have thought it possible. It was so strange seeing him wait in the dam, and apparently it gets you 10 seconds remaining. Also liked the little foot soldier hanging out harmlessly doing little hand gestures and kicks below the technodrome. I was wondering why he wasn't killing him.
I can't believe this doesn't have more views!!! What an amazing run. Really appreciate all the explanations you gave in the comments too!
Wow… that’s all I can say. I still have problems getting passed the damn water level
Sooo Amazing. Great game. I'm currently working on the last hallway; with your help and tutorials. Thank you.
Glad to help! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Beat it. about 3 or 4 times now. Thank you so much for the walkthroughs. I'm not a speedrunner I just really wanted to finish this one. so many people claim it's impossible. It can be very unforgiving and frustrating but man Soooo gratifying. you should try and do more tutorials, great teacher and way chill compared to some other folks on the platform.
@@Nesshole Glad to be of help and congrats on the progress!
Thanks! Congratulations! GG!
Is it a console or an emulator ?
Thank you kindly. This run was performed on console and cartridge.
And yeah, the two spots that I was curious to see how you weren't gonna take damage from, Stage 2, and what you did at 19:11 to avoid the unavoidable spikes.
That 2:32 section is so buttery.
Excellent run dude.
Most impressive! Though I have yet to see anybody do a Leo only - no sub weapons run... Probably wouldn’t be too hard compared to Mike only or a Raph only though. 😐
This is amazing..congratulations! Do you think is possible a no damage run withouth glitches?
Absolutely. It would be a little tougher, but definitely doable. Maybe some day!
Hooray! You did it!
Congrats friend you are the best. You have my support. Really happy. A cheers for my good friend Skunky the best Nintendo player in the world. Never gonna catch me... Peek a boo, Mike to the Van and you are done driving. Do not take extra damage and do no hit Fire Freaks for no reasons.
GG
Very nice run dude =)
Hey thanks! It was a fun challenge for sure.
I didn't think it could be done
I love when April says at the end "Let's celebrate with A pizza." No no no April, the turtles are gonna want at least one pizza EACH. And like I joked with a friend of mine. No April, they can think of a better way that you can reward them 😉 if you catch my drift.
how did you get the technodrome at the right spot? is it luck or a manipulation of rng
Technodrome location is set when you press Start at the beginning of the game, and the frames can vary depending on CPU/PPU alignment at power on/reset of the NES. Most runners listen for an audio cue in the song that has proven to increase their odds of getting the good location. That being said, about 25% of frames result in Hole 1 (top right), 25% Hole 2 (bottom right), and 50% Hole 3 (bottom left). The exception to this is that if you game over and use a continue at any point during the playthrough, the Technodrome is locked to Hole 3. All factors considered, the location comes down to luck. The developers did an amazing job making it as random as possible.
yoooooo so cool !! gg !
Does the seaweed have a weird collision box? You clearly touched it but took no damage
Yeah it definitely not true to the sprites for the seaweed. It's still very tight, but not what it appears to be.
I did it! Awesome. The 19:11 deal
19:11 So, trying to recreate this, is there anything specific that should be known? Blah, I can't seem to get it.
Dude i dont know who you are but you are a god
I'm a relatively normal person who's probably spent way too much time playing this game haha. I appreciate the compliment.
No damage? Impressive!
Nice wr today.
Hey thanks! We'll probably try to knock another 10-20 seconds off of that time for the "No out of Bounds" category.
Bruh dude your so good
Did you know you can swim up faster if you push up button when clicking that jump button?
at 4:33 how do you not get hit by the 2 lasers?
The Dam has current in certain spots. Sometimes this current is non-existent. That spot that you noted usually has current that pushes you to the right making it impossible to get through without stopping in between. In this run, I had the no "boost" / current, which allowed me to swim faster to the left there. You can tell when you get the no current pattern at 4:00 due to the very slow speed at which the turtle drops down after that screen transition.
@@Skunky48 ho ok thanks
17:21 Whoa whoa, wtf?
Bullshit! No way you can not hit the seaweed in the water lever!!! Impossible!!! F that level!!$
I think that was impossible! omg, without damage!
I don’t consider this legit if you have to glitch out the game to do it.
@@fritospie7982 Yeah, I played this with the Any% ruleset, rather than the Glitchless ruleset. Might be time to go back and do it without glitches and see how low we can get the time. Thanks for watching!
@@Skunky48 Thanks for reading my comment and taking time to reply. Loved watching. Just felt like that ladder skip thing at the end was kinda cheap after the amazing feet achieved up to that point. Other than that amazing play through. Now I wanna go back and actually try and just beat it haha.
@@fritospie7982 Hell yeah, get you some! My good friend and fellow speedrunner "thenesmaster" has completed a damageless run with no glitches. I'll dig up a link for you!
can we all call you dad?
As long as we can stop at Lowe's on the way home.
Where I come from we don’t do speed runs. We play the game from start to finish all the way through with no cheats. But if that is how you play then, so be it. Everybody has their own thing.
Where I come from, we don't seek out speedrun videos to bitch about. We watch various speedrun categories from start to finish all the way through, with no whining. But if that is how you live, then so be it. Everybody has their own thing. Sidenote, Philly sports and their fans suck ass. Cheers!
4:37 Excuse me sir but you're not allowed to do that. We have to ask you leave.
WTF dude 🤯😂
The rocket pack guys are just as bad a shot as stormtroopers.
This dude is using game genie foh. Fake news
And the NES is overclocked too.
Holy sheeeeeeeeit!
Sorry dude, if you can’t go through the game and complete it without taking advantage of a glitch, then you have not completed the game. Had you taken an extra 6 to 7 minutes, you can do it with no glitches and not exploiting the game. Thumbs down.
Where I come from, that’s called cheating! I don’t care what anybody says! It boils down to just cheating!
In other words, you were not playing the game the way it was intended to be played.
Hello friend! While you may consider this cheating, this speedrun was completed using the "Any%" ruleset, which allows for exploits/glitches/etc. There are many other categories for speedruns of this game and others, including a more pure "Glitchless" category which aims to play that game in a more "intended" way. You can find that leaderboard, and the current world record Glitchless run in the following links. I have completed this game in many ways, and every category presents unique challenges and provides extended enjoyment with the games we love to play. I value your opinion, and look to give you some insight into the hobby. If you are interested or have any other questions, please reach out. Cheers!
