सौरव गांगुली मार्च २००० में Lancashire में क्रिकेट खेलने गए थे।
वहाँ पे वो यंग ऑलराउंडर Flintoff से मिले। जहां पे Flintoff पलेबढ़े थे वहा पे गांगुली उनका मनपसंद गेम खेलने और सुधारने गए थे।
इसीलिए उन्होंने अपने टीम मेटस के साथ जाना माना कर दिया।
इस वजह से उनकी रेप्यटैशन बढ़ गई।
ऐसे कई इवेंट्स पे उन्होंने English traditions का तिरस्कार किया।
उन्होंने ड्रेस कोड में ओपनिंग सेरेमनी अटेन्ड नहीं किया, उन्होंने Michael Atherton को उनको दिया गया स्वेटर वापस दे दिया।
ये सारे चीजों के कारण दादा और उनके English team mates का रिश्ता बिगड़ गया।
फिर भी २००० आईसीसी knock out trophy तक चीजें नॉर्मल रही।
लेकिन एक दिन जब दादा और Flintoff curry restaurant में गए थे तब दोनों के बीच में झगड़ा हुआ।
इस झगड़े के कारण Flintoff को बहोत हर्ट हुआ।
इसके बाद सिर्फ उन्होंने बदल लेने की ही नहीं ठानी बल्कि उनके आत्मचरित्र में उन्होंने इस event को mention भी किया।
इस घटना के एक साल बाद, २००१-०२ में Flintoff जब इंडिया में आए, उन्होंने गुस्से में आके स्लेज पुश करनेकी कोशिश की, इस वजह से दादा और सबको ही बहोत गुस्सा आया।
इसके बाद उन्होंने अपने देश को recover करने के लिए, ३-१ ODI series deficit को equalize करनेकी कोशिश की।
उन्होंने अपना शर्ट निकाल के पूरे वानखेडे स्टेडियम में रौंद लगाया।
ये कहानी थी गांगुली और फ्लिंटऑफ के दुश्मनी की, जो क्रिकेट के इतिहास में अजरामर हो गई।
