流行りだなんだマルチバースってイベントの最初に男の方のマーリンが言ってたから、別の次元から来たマーリンでありながら、それを偽っていることが原因だったりしてね
そっちは建前で普通に別世界のマーリンなのを誤魔化しまくってるからプリテンダーって事やろなぁ
I find it unique of how Proto Merlin is able to change the design of her magic staff according to her own likings. Even for her 1st ascension, despite looking the same with her FGO Arcade 2nd ascension, the ornament details of her staff are different to each other.
Meanwhile the male Merlin always uses the same magical staff unchanged from his 1st to 3rd ascensions. But he makes up with having Excalibur and a dagger / knife which he can physically connect to his staff.

Meanwhile FGO Arcade's Proto Merlin 3rd ascension has her staff resembling the shape of the Tower of Avalon which we can see during her NP animation. Technically speaking, Lady of Avalon (Merlin) and Arcade's Proto Merlin basically have the same NP with little differences. It's just that the background scenery of Lady of Avalon NP's isn't a endless field of flowers unlike the Arcade version. That, and Lady of Avalon always wearing her 3rd ascension outfit and her staff which she modeled to function like a normal umbrella no matter what ascensions she's in.

Well, many already know who she is just by those being updated through Arcade, yet it's something much more now that she got a Pretender Class container. So many layers as to why Proto Merlin got this Class in the first place, like pretending to be the Magus of Flowers' younger sister, to having only one Swimsuit Ascension. Her half-succubus nature is also part of it, but in reality, it must have been what Draco said to her about who she really was...

Basically the reason why she's Lady Avalon is cause "Merlin" is trapped in Avalon in this universe where as in her universe "Merlin" is free to wander but chooses to wait in Avalon for human kind to reach utopia so to avoid the universe trying to correct her to "Merlin is the one trapped in paradise" she chooses to pretend to be Lady Avalon the little sister of Merlin who isn't trapped in paradise whether I'm right or wrong idk I'm going to pass out night

I don't need to hear the succubus talk to think of a few reasons why she's a Pretender. She actually Merlin from another world. Her voice actress is the same as Artoria Pendragon's. She's more sadistical the our Merlin. She's a horrible lier, but can get away with it due to her succubus nature. She may or may not be hiding from the World Order due to being very close to a Beast of Man. Also, she is nowhere near top tier Pretender status. That remains for the Greatest Liar of them all, my bro Oberon

@@reiiz9942 In the manga it's actually stated that the more he uses projection etc... the more EMIYA overwrites him but only from using tracing i.e the unique version of projection that Emiya Shirou uses it's probably because Miyuverse Shirou's element and origin aren't sword where as EMIYA's is thanks to having Avalon inside him for years

Now that I think about it. Pretender class servants are beings who fill into the role of another character, but since lady avalon is not an actually character I doubt that’s possible, or else servants like James could become pretenders just by calling himself archer of shinjiku, so then she could being filling in the role for Avalon itself and I know that’s not a character but nasu loves breaking rules plus if Avalon is a paradise fit for only those free of sin then that would make it the opposite of sodom which is a city name currently being used by beast/S who says herself that Merlin and her are incompatible. It also explains why she has independent manifestation A as a passive

Either it's the whole not Merlin thing, or as I saw some people suggest as her not being Proto-Merlin cause of the eye color. A whole Nero and Babylon thing in Arcade. I know that our Merlin is capable of becoming a beast and doesn't necessarily mean she can but other than the first and last I can't think of a definitive reason as to why she's Pretender.

She’s clearly confusing the player with her word and not engaging into the discussion, that pops to the eyes.
« I wonder why Pretender », well, she does know. But even though she admits it, it stills include the player with the question: « Hey, I don’t know TOO (like you) why I’m a Pretender and I am surely lying, but we’re both on the same boat »
Like, the « believe it or not » is giving the responsability of knowing the truth to the player, by understating « hey, you can believe me if YOU want to believe me, if you think I’M not lying. That’s your choice » = taking a break from the confrontation (is she lying or not ?).
She’s talking about being a succubus (which isn’t impossible if she’s really Merlin), but inherently those creatures are made for seduction: which mean also working on its prey to charm it. And that’s another reason why she wouldn’t go too much into the lying thing, because before being only a liar, she has the exclusive place of Servant: great for succubus since they have a Master right next to hand for infinite mana resources.
« It’s not good to retort that much you know ? » is clearly an indicator that she has been lying. But know it’s not only about lying, but living with those lies and accept it (even though the truth is known). Like it would be an healthy advice in life. She’s advicing the player to not think too much about that. But why is that ? Because of what’s coming.

Because she’s not only telling that going to much into her story and lies would make her go away, but also using her charm and affection towards the player like a hostage. « If you do all of that, then I might just disappear. But anyway, what I’m saying is just basic analysis, I don’t know if it’s worth it and she could be lying to everything since she’s a Pretender, invalidating my succubus argument. I could have done this for nothing.

Not really going by the matts and everything we know of the two merlins. Male merlin actually regrets what happened in camelot and cares for arthuria and actually cared enough about humanity to legitimately help out
Female merlin kicked proto arthur out of avalon after the whole mess and basically sends him on eternal quests for her enjoyment as she sits back and eats popcorn and doesn’t care about humanity other then as entertainment
