Jimmy - “Rubix & Miguel. Again, quite a battle for real, with two very different styles ! Miguel who’s really technical, who uses his entire body for variations ; and his isolations, incredible ! He’s just incredible. Plus the loose and extended hair really giving him a stylish vibe, you’d think he was Hard Rocker ! (laughs) Then you have Rubix who’s really technical too, but uses technique to widen his range ; he’s somebody who’s really extensive and manages to catch on to the music, even in very difficult positions and pockets. Quick simply, he embodies the music. On the first round, I give it to Rubix. I thought that Miguel wasn’t really into it, plus he had the water bottle in hand. Usually when he’s with a bottle, he uses the prop a lot to create concepts. Here he finishes his round while sipping the bottle, but he didn’t look comfortable dancing. Rubix on the other hand was really calm, really into it. He still didn’t go all out. But when he did the Grizzly, I was shook for real. He always has the perfect timing to make his dance look extensive and elegant, and to also suspend time. Time suspension is definitely what defines musicality for me. Second round I give it to Miguel. The track had a Break n Beat flavor to it so it definitely spoke more to him. I thought that by the end Rubix was in the music, but in the beginning he was struggling to get into it. Miguel however was into it from A to Z. Everything worked ; he had his technique PLUS the footwork matching the Break n Beat, and that’s difficult to pull off ! To continue to build your round more and more with no pause is commendable. On the third round, I’m giving it to Rubix. He kept the same step for the entirety of his round and developed it when needed. Not only was he in the music, but he played really well with the crowd too. He knew the sound, but didn’t “beat” it : he wasn’t constantly hitting it, he gave it room to breath and elaborated on steps instead. He was like “imma work around this one step”. An Afro step, working towards a Hip Hop step, back to Afro .. Honestly, he really managed to make it his round work on steps alone. Miguel of course had a superb round too, it evolved even better in the later stages, but I gave the round to Rubix because he told a continuous story while Miguel did great but had instances in his dance where the story changed. All in all, a beautiful battle. 2 points for Rubix = Rubix Winner"
Rubix looks like a completely different dancer here, it looks like he's changing up his style/experimenting again. Btw, I think jimmy yudat is my favorite judge, he pays great attention to detail and isn't biased.
Good shit from Miguel as usual, big big BIG shoutouts to the DJ for giving good music unlike some of the clowns we've dealt with at BIG events this year. Rubix rounds speak for themselves and to beat Miguel despite going first is also a statement in itself. One thing I just realized is people don't give credit to Rubix balance, he is super stable while doing shit on his toes and in matrix position etc.
The real ones know HOW good he really is and the funny thing is, he hasn’t reached his full potential yet. His evolution is craaazy. You could see the talent when he was still a kid.
@@OfficialEDC he better reach it quick cos he won't be able to do half his moves by the time he's 25. Paradox and Alex had to drastically change their styles cos their bodies couldn't keep up with their moves. And Rubix is more extreme than both of them.
@@daytona-x7b don't forget paradox suffered a horrible ankle injury that now left him with arthritis there. If Rubix takes good care of himself I think he'll be fine in his mid 20's
Great Battle. I think what Miguel lacked here, for all his great groove and rhythm, is floor moves. For example, Alex The Cage has great groove and rhythm, but some phenomenal footwork and floorwork. Those things really elevate him to an elite status. Rubix's style already includes floor work, but he really went hard on it. You can tell he was really feeling it physically. Rubix also had great battle intelligence in his 2nd and 3rd rounds to include more groove to cut into Miguel's groove domination. On a second rewatch, it's easy to see Rubix's win. No matter what though, it was a really cool exchange.
can u add a substitle for last part where Jimmy explain his judgements because it is very good content which we dont see before organization. Lots of dancer can get insight from these talks maybe more than battle. Thanks you :)
I wish I knew what they were saying in the explanations but I love the fact they tell you why they picked who they did. Need more of this. Dope battle.

As always, a battle between Rubrix and Miguel is more of an exchange as both are equally great in the way they express the music with their bodies. Any body could have gotten this but I Rubrix is a major player so we give it to him.
I think Rubix was just too much for Miguel here. Rubix attacks rounds/battles on multiple style fronts now, and that's hard to compete against. Miguel kind of stayed in his comfortable box and it wasn't enough to win IMO, especially going second (not discounting his skills AT ALL). Rubix is really killing stuff

absolutely agree on everything you said
Yes, I always felt like that - when he's judging, he's always completely engaged and has joy in his expressions.
Yeah, battling Miguel makes him do more freestyle. Watch the battle between the two at BTM.
