Today I review an article on the subject with accompanying tweet from Rian Johnson. The PR exploitation isn't lost on this one.

I think she probably a really nice person in real life...Daisy Ridley too. If Lucasfilm really cared about representing repressed ethnic minorities then they wouldn't have used this as a cheap way to deflect attention from the epic SOLO fail...bit sad really...

Paul Walukiewicz that's what I dont like about it. I have complete respect for the actors and production crew involved. They were paid to do a job and it's not their fault.

I agree with you there shouldn't be any validation for anyone posting garbage on the actors sites. But we do know it happens. A lot more than we think. I've watched videos where they are openly racist to their critiques of her character. And they hide behind it as, "well I'm talking about the character". I didn't like the character, I didn't like Last Jedi, but I would I never feel the need to go into the SJW anti SJW fight over it. You can argue the flaws in the new movies on its own fairly simple. But I feel like we have a war now between these two factions and Star Wars is the real casualty. I just want them to make better films with better care and respect. Whether they can do it with an SJW cause or an anti SJW cause, doesn't matter because if the movie were good, no one would notice. But unfortunately this fight isn't about whether they will make good Star Wars films anymore, its become an SJW anti SJW fight which i could care less about. Its become clickbait. I don't think anyone is contriving anything on either side, its just the product of this war. You got good and bad on both sides.

A well thought out opinion. There is no room for racism/sexism in critiques of anyone involved with Star Wars. The problem is that Lucasfilm has turned the subject matter/conversation into the SJW vs anti SJW fight. It's my opinion that it is a result of the nature of subject and inherently brings the worst out of people pro and con. This is why I emphatically say, THIS IS NOT WHAT STAR WARS IS ABOUT! They have turned it into something vitriolic at its core where employees call fans racists, sexist, etc. While there are a very small group who behave like this are in any society, to cart Blanche label everyone who disagrees with you an 'ist' is not the way to go.
Kelly Marie Tran I empathize and don't support any abusive comments online. Know that it is NOT the majority of Star Wars fans, even those who didn't like the Last Jedi.

I had an argument with some people on Facebook over that. They were trying to insinuate that its racist, Alt-Right, Trump supporters who were hating it, and I had to let them know its more than that. I lean left and I am angry with the movie. There's people of color, women, various sexual persuasions that don't like the movie for the same reasons we don't. I had to show them video proof of others. I think making it SJW reasons why you love it or hate it is causing a situation where neither side will let go or really win in the end. Star Wars has always had some political element in it, the original series had the Nazi element with the Empire, Palpatine was a version of Bush in the prequels, now we have SJW. The big flaw Kathleen Kennedy has is she needed better people to execute that kind of message without taking it out of the Star Wars mythology. The last movie literally spit on it, lol. But no one complained about Rogue One and that had a pretty big diverse cast in a way a perfect SJW film in a way, but it was done well. When its done poorly you get The Last Jedi, which sticks out like a sore thumb. I think for me I'm tired of the back and forth with the SJW thing. Its being used for people on both sides who don't know how to really argue a point to use it as a crutch because its easier to hate the other side.
