Well, I've heard enough. This is the kind of nostalgia and member berries that have wrecked the franchises. There is no story here, there is no dialogue, there is no plot. There was no science fiction device that influences character. Every single person who was involved in the creation of every Star Trek series would have laughed this script out of the office it is so superficial, significant, vague, and pointless. You ask, what is Gary Mitchell doing there? Well he could be doing every single thing that anyone could imagine or he could be doing absolutely nothing because the writers do not care anything about him. And the same with lieutenant Savvik. You cannot just make everything up by yourself and imbue this story with what is not in front of us and not what we are watching.

If they wanted a guaranteed hit, they could easily hire two people. - Tony Gilroy (Andor, Bourne Identity/Supremacy/Ultimatum, Rogue One) - Drew Karpshyn (Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect 1/2, The Old Republic, Darth Bane trilogy) By no means, should Disney ever touch anything from the old republic unless they have fixed their track record and gotten some actual geniuses on board to write and create it. I would never forgive them if they botched it.

*Lucasfilm intentionally leaks fake trilogy news to try to trick investors again into thinking they should continue to invest in Disney* - fixed. Disney is famous for announcing project after project for Star Wars around the time just before their investors meetings, most of these projects never happen. Other than the Mandalorian & Grogu movie I doubt we will see any other Star Wars movie from Disney soon. No one wants a Rey movie let alone an entire trilogy centered around Rey, so they would be really foolish to waste their time and money making that. Until I see actual teasers with actual footage shot, I will not believe any of the projects announced for Star Wars by Disney are real. As for what I would like to see? -- I'd like to see somebody else buy Star Wars from Disney so we can have good Star Wars again. Other than Star Wars Rebels, Rogue One and the first two seasons of The Mandalorian everything Disney has made for Star Wars has been terrible (Andor possibly excepted by I, like most fans, give up on Disney Star Wars before they made Andor).

Not to mention their legal issues with Macross that they absolutely cannot use less the wrath of Big West falls upon them. The Val character is not the first minority female in Star Wars, the character from The Force Awakens had a character named Kor Sella, whose scenes were cut (Leia sends her on a mission to Hosnian Prime and then Starkiller base blew it up she's on the Corusant looking planet balcony looking in horror, her scenes were scaled down to just a reaction of Hosnian prime blowing up) Val dies in Solo too. Why make a big deal about the diversity when the diverse characters die and have no affect on the story and are in the background? The Original Trilogy and the Prequel trilogy diverse characters were more dignified than what Disney is churning out. Also what about Adi Gallia from "Jedi Power Battles" she was a African-American female Jedi. Dianne Carol from the Star Wars Holiday Special. Oola the Twi'lek dancer from Jabba's palace in ROTJ. Disney has never watched the original films or followed the franchise.

When I say BOYCOTT I mean BOYCOTT I rather watch an old 70mm six-track Dolby Stereo film over some solo atmos with bouncy speaker sound. And I used to be keen to listening to cinema sound but if its doesn't officially have duel 35/70mm projection then it isn't CINEMA. Fuck solo digital atmos. kk disney. The BOYCOTTING is very real.

I agree with you there shouldn't be any validation for anyone posting garbage on the actors sites. But we do know it happens. A lot more than we think. I've watched videos where they are openly racist to their critiques of her character. And they hide behind it as, "well I'm talking about the character". I didn't like the character, I didn't like Last Jedi, but I would I never feel the need to go into the SJW anti SJW fight over it. You can argue the flaws in the new movies on its own fairly simple. But I feel like we have a war now between these two factions and Star Wars is the real casualty. I just want them to make better films with better care and respect. Whether they can do it with an SJW cause or an anti SJW cause, doesn't matter because if the movie were good, no one would notice. But unfortunately this fight isn't about whether they will make good Star Wars films anymore, its become an SJW anti SJW fight which i could care less about. Its become clickbait. I don't think anyone is contriving anything on either side, its just the product of this war. You got good and bad on both sides.

I think she probably a really nice person in real life...Daisy Ridley too. If Lucasfilm really cared about representing repressed ethnic minorities then they wouldn't have used this as a cheap way to deflect attention from the epic SOLO fail...bit sad really...
