Beauty is a strange thing. Its a subjective thing, and fleeting. As a man I've never understood it. A man never thinks "Am I beautiful",we could care less. Just be yourself and a decent human.Thats beauty in my opinion. I'ma man so that may not count for much. Love Martha, always have.

After I watched your video I wanted to jump up and give you a standing ovation! Well said and sadly, it was needed. It takes guts to put yourself out there...whether it be on RUclips, a magazine or even your community. I've spent a great deal of my free time volunteering. Without fail, someone is unhappy because it should have been done like this...or that. Funny tho, they can't seem to make time to step up themselves. Martha didn't have to do this. I wouldn't have the guts to model in footed PJs let alone a swim suit! She KNEW everyone would see it. She KNEW some would pick apart her appearance. She KNEW some would try to drag her down. She did it anyway. And Nikol, you do it too. Let's celebrate that....otherwise fewer and fewer woman will show up.

This was so needed! Why? Why must women continue to compare each other? Why? This Sports Illustrated cover was phenomenal! Martha absolutely rocked it! She looks healthy and beautiful and and sexy! That aspect of our gender was stripped away from us as we age in the past. What a shame. We can certainly remain sensuous if we choose to! That's the point! It's about choice and the willingness to live our best at any age! Bravo to you! Let's all do better! Let's celebrate each other as we age! Martha Stewart looks amazing!

I was thrilled when I heard that Martha Stewart was on the cover in a swim suit! I do a water class and I am also 81 and I say anyone who can put on a swimsuit at this age should be appreciated. It’s not easy sometimes but the results are worth it. I know a lot of women younger and older than me never wear any kind of makeup and they look washed out especially if their hair is white . My hair is white and it took some figuring out what color foundation worked, what blush and lipstick also worked , but it was worth it. I wear my hair in a bob and it is one of the easiest hair styles I have ever had! I am blessed with great hair and the only thing that the whole Covid did for me was showing what I had been hiding with color. I think when you are active and do wear makeup people never think about your age and if they find out they are surprised. Thank you for encouraging us all to be the best we can be no matter what age we are!❤😊

I 100% agree with you! Martha looks AMAZING in the SI shoot! When I found out she got the cover, I was so happy for her. I am 51, a 2.5 yr breast cancer survivor and before cancer, I always compared myself to others. Cancer changed that for me and now, I want to live MY best life. I have begun a skincare routine, and am slowly getting back into wearing make up (your videos have helped me tremendously), but the one thing I will NEVER do is put a woman down for living her best life. We are supposed to lift each other up and celebrate each other. I have found so much comfort in that with my support groups, and I try to emulate that in my every day life. God bless Martha for that wonderful body of hers and God bless you for helping the women who watch you feel their best! 💖

Thank you for highlighting this subject. Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue has long been a beauty standard reference for women in their 20s - attainable by a minority of women. The 2023 issue crossed into 100% unattainable beauty standard territory for a generation of women who fought hard against being reduced to their appearance while also fighting for voting rights, abortion rights, equal pay, financial rights, maternity leave, etc. - rights that enabled women such as Martha Stewart to become successful in business while also being wives and mothers.

Nikol, you said what most of up think and feel. I'm 76 and have learnt a lot from you on how to improve my makeup skills, as little as I use. I think any woman of Martha's age, or younger or older, that makes that cover is definitely to be celebrated. We see so many younger women on magazine covers whom we definitely cannot relate to at our age. I feel your passion and agree wholeheartedly with you. I also feel there is a little green eyed jealousy with some. We can't all look fantastic and be on a magazine cover, but we can do our best and love ourselves in the process.

You are spot on girl! I am 74 and have been sidelined as to friendship with women. I am from a big family. Brothers and sisters. We were all treated the same. We shared. The older ones taught younger ones what to wear, not wear, makeup, not to wear makeup .. you name it and we shared it. Ours looks were never discussed. We were just to bring the best version of ourself to the ‘table’ (being grocery store or dinner out etc). It was never about how beautiful you were on the outside. It was how beautiful the whole you appeared. The real you.
I still have less women friends then male friends but the females understand you get the whole me. Not just what you’re looking at .. because what you are looking at comes from within.
Love you and your strength. Keep going. ❤

I agree with you, unfortunately the downside to everything you said is why we criticize the role models. We want to look like them, not ourselves, like them, and when that becomes unachievable, we criticize them.
We have to keep in mind, their looks is their business and therefore they put a lot of time and money into their appearance. Unless we have the same level of resources, we can’t possibly achieve their level of “beauty”.
We’re desperately looking for someone with that “natural” beauty because it makes us feel good about ourselves, it tells us it’s achievable and we can do it too.
I believe celebrities should be honest with their procedures and their struggles regarding their appearance and stop lying about it. If they’re selling themselves to us we should know what we’re buying.
Beauty for me is looking amazing effortlessly and that starts from with “in” and not with “out”.

The first words I said when I heard she was on the cover was, " It's about time they put someone older than 25 on the cover." I don't care who it is, all ages should be represented.

Wow! You really said it all! She worked for it, she deserves the praise. Through high school and college I had difficulty making friends and believe me I tried, I couldn't understand why other women were so harsh to me. I had a girl friend who opened my eyes and told me the reason why this happened was because of jealousy.
I modeled in the 1970 and 80's ran into the same reaction from women but after what my friend said ,I took it as a compliment. Still had few friends but the ones I had then are still with me now, 50 yrs later!

Excellent Nikol !! First time I have commented, but I felt I really wanted to support you. I have been following you for about a year or so now and really enjoy your channel. So refreshing to find someone addressing older women. I am 75 on the outside but in my mind still think I am much younger. Oprah once said everyone has a story and it is so true! My life has been a major roller coaster. I had a stroke a year ago but am recovering very well, and am now just trying to figure out how to return to work & not look my age. I always thought I could get a job anywhere, not the case, at least not if I want to make a decent salary. I will only say it is a lot easier if you have money to ease your path.
Life is definitely a challenge. Going to buy some of your products finally to see if they will help. Thanks for what you do. Myra

Martha's is 81 years? She looks amazing!!! What a great example of looking good as a woman. Yay!
There are MANY ways to look younger by thickening, and tightening your skin, such as dermarolling/microneedling, red light therapy, microcurrent, face exercises, wearing a silicone neck pad at night and much more. What about a PDO thread lift? RF microneedling? Then there are the skin care ingredients. Plus, diet and supplements (i.e. collagen) are important.
What I am trying to say is there is A LOT you can do without going under the knife. A lot.
If I had the money (and Martha Stewart does) I would be visiting an esthetician weekly and at the very least, monthly. And I would definitely have a personal fitness trainer.
With that said there is A LOT you can do at home affordably as DIY. You have to make some investment in skincare tools (over time) but affordable devices can be found and are worth having as they make a huge difference. No money for a device? Learn facial exercises! There are YT channels that teach this.
We need regular targeted exercise and diet to be healthy and toned. It's discipline. To me, skin care is the same. It is about discipline. It's a daily discipline.
Anyways... any talk about having "natural" beauty is false imo. Do you want hair on your face, nose hairs, monobrow? No thanks. We all do something even if we don't admit it.
Martha Stewart's discipline to look AMAZING is great!!!
❤❤❤ Love your coments and totally agree with you. 👍😍

Such a good point, Ms. Johnson. We the "hoi polloi", the public, convincing ourselves that we "know" persons in the public eye, whether they be social media content creators, book authors, royals, politicians, heinous criminals, crime victims and being in denial to the fact that we are to often being propagandized in order to have this belief.

Good morning Nicole . I agree . I will be 60 in July . So many times we feel as older women we are forgotten . Well here is an 81 year old women on the cover ! Why can't we be celebrating the fact that with all the young models out there she made the cover . Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes . I have let my hair go salt and pepper . I would never dream of telling friend/family that they should stop coloring their hair. We should be celebrating each other instead of knocking each other down .

Thank you so much for defending Martha Stewart! 🙏💖 She has been criticized so much, for decades, for being a talented and successful business woman, and a lot of it has come from women. In some sense, it's none of anyone's business what Martha does. She looks wonderful and more power to her! People are so concerned with affirmation that they've forgotten about aspiration. We can do both! Martha is an aspirational role model. Thank you you for making this point. You're wonderful and are also a great aspirational role model for all of us. 💖💖

I have been a photographer for 40+ years. I also take "professional" selfies. I'm currently 70 and 2 years ago I took a selfie and only used photoshop to correct the lighting and contrast. With the angles and light I used, I looked about 40. Lighting will get rid of a lot of wrinkles. I remember someone said.. wow you must have photoshopped that big time. I don't have many wrinkles but I have a turkey neck, so I placed my hand on my chin to hide that but the rest was lighting. I am never going to be sitting on the couch watching TV. I walk 2 miles every day and lift weights (which I have done since my 30's) I admire women who age gracefully. Awesome video. I hate the judgyness and stereotypes of aging of some women against women.

have to confess that, at first, I was a nay-sayer. I thought it was dumb....but then I started thinking about it after I read a comment from a friend on FB. She was right, you are right and I joined the supportive audience. Mostly because I recalled my "history" with Martha. I was a long-time subscriber to her magazine. I watched her tv specials on public television back in the 80's. I know her to be a self-made gal... she has always been straight with her audience - even when it came to serving time in prison. Now I'm supportive. SI has a huge selection of young women for every issue.. the fact that they chose Martha is a win for all of us over 30.

Hi Nikol. You said that well. I personally am so sick of the competition out there to look fabulous no matter who you are. There are people out there especially women that have more important roles in their life to lead than worry about the latest fashion, makeup trends and the rest. All materialistic. The MOST important thing in everyone’s life is their HEALTH. If you’re not in great health then forget everything else. I believe people forget that. Just be yourself. Whatever makes you happy. Don’t judge others. I’m now 62 and see the competition out there which is so sad. Just love watching you on RUclips. You make my day. ❤

Your passion about respect for ALL women is one of the many reasons we love you Nikol! You're so right about what you said. THANK YOU! Martha admitted to having fillers and some photoshopping. Show me one model - NO MATTER HOW OLD SHE IS - that would be in a magazine on on the cover without any special lighting and knowing exactly how to pose. By the way, one thing that all of us should take into account is GENETICS. I know some 75 year-old women without any wrinkles, and a few 60 year old women with lots of wrinkles. Generics plays a huge role. Thank you again for fiercely defending women's rights to be whatever they choose to be.
