I learned this when a storm knocked our power out for days. Solar accent lights. The 10 lumens or so came in very handy. A few of them light up a room surprisingly well.
I have a few hundred set aside. I do need to update my stockpile with more LED bulbs but should be the older incandescent lights too ( some places are banning them) Don’t forget grow lights if you are in a cold environment and need to start seeds indoors
Good solid video. There's so many things to consider. Had anyone thought about having a bicycle with a basket attached for another mode of transportation? In response to gardening, the chemical fertilizers are fast in and fast out. Sure you can store lots of it. But it destroys the soil food web ( the life in the soil) and makes your soil dependant on chemicals ( a lot like a drug addict). There are nature, easy to store items that improve soil fertility ( adds all the micronutrients) maintains the soil life, and provides balance healthy and tastier food ( read Steve Solomon gardening when it counts or the intelligent gardener for his COF mix) having seeds and tools are important but without good soil and knowledge to keep it healthy you don’t have food…. Learn to garden, it’s better to be a warrior in a garden, then a gardener in a war….. but be a gardener too
@@SeriousSurvivor here’s some back ground. I always like the COF method ( complete organic fertilizer) and not because it’s organic, but it makes sense. I planted a lot of blue berries the last couple years and they need acidic soil, I started digging into the best ways to do it. Some promote pine needles ( science says they don’t work and backed by studies) others use sulphur, but that kills fungus, and fungus and bacteria are needed to help the roots and nutrients to get into the plant. Look up “soil food web” growing healthy soil is the only way to grow healthy food. And healthy soil needs work, but can be sustainable without herb/pest chemicals. If you read any Jared diamond his theory is the collapse of past societies was over population, destruction of the environment ( deforestation) and over working the soil ( IE killing the soil food web) the world is over populated, we still have trees but billions and billions of acres of land has destroyed soil. Dead soil loses water…. I think you see where I’m going. To keep healthy food going we need good soil to maintain water sheds. . . It’s about balance.
@@davidsto9064 I read an article in the Mother Earth News which stated that urine could be used as general purpose fertizizer. It must be diluted at the rate of 20 parts water to 1 part urine. Apply once every 2 weeks. I think once a week probably work better. Two weeks seems like a long time, especially during hot weather, when the plants are growing rapidly.
@@Bruce_Wayne35 urine is the highest natural source of nitrogen. And that MEN article isn’t wrong. Diluted you can add it more often. Many small farms will set up a straw bale to pee on, straw being carbon, pee being the nitrogen, it creates a great compost once balanced and broken down. There is more too it then just your N and C you have to take care of your minerals and life of the soil too.

Never actually heard anyone mention lightbulbs before but I have 3 big boxes stored away…enough for bartering, aiding my local community etc
Yeah i pick one or 2 everytime i go to the stores
If anything, the incandescent bulbs might be worth more in the future because they're going to be banned.

Use oil lamps
They can be fueled with kerosene, or any type of cooking oil. Oil lamp tops are available for canning jars.

Rat poison, fire extinguisher
Tires and extra batteries for vehicles
I miss Luke and his great content on YT. It’s hard to imagine he’s been gone for a year and a half already. Hope his family is doing well.
Having extra pad locks n such or maybe couple extra sleep cots for beds or bed pads.

I write the installed date on all LED bulbs.
In heavy use areas (like kitchen or outside) they don’t last as long as you might think.
