the worst part about the game is how you can basically show a screenshot of this to someone's grandma and they will totally be convinced it's a real Mario game that little Jimmy wants for Christmas or his Birthday. Instant dissapointment.
i crashed once in the last level and died but instead of the game being over it kept going. Mario was dead but he could keep playing as some kind of angel or ghost. Nothing could harm him and I was able to easily finish the game. This feature only happened once. I still don't know how that was possible....???
Nice Video ! I actually remember when i was younger thinking this was actual official Mario game until i found out it was a bootleg a couple of years ago. Although for some weird reason this game gives me a weird feeling now...
That game was developed by Nintendo R&D4, the same development team behind most Mario games. When it was in development they treated it as if it were a new Mario game, but obviously with different characters for the Fuji TV license. When it was time for a Mario sequel to come out in the West, it was determined that SMB2J wouldn't be enjoyable for American audiences so Nintendo rebranded a pre-existing Mario-like game that they owned everything about aside from the characters. I get where you're coming from, but it's not really a similar situation to other sprite swaps at all lol
I actually bought this game when I was a kid, it was in a package with another 30 games or so. I remember being amazed, I mean, was this really a secret Mario game that nobody knew but me? I kept playing it and playing but never got over the second or third level. I remember just wishing it to stop, to finish already. It was hell, but it was a videogame so it was ok in my 9 years old mind. I mean, suffering was relative when you were not doing homework after all.
I knew one day you'll cover this "Mario Bootleg Hack" someday. And just between you (PGT) and me, I can make a better set of Donkey Kong sprites in Gameboy style than the people who made this hack. ^^"
Mario Land 4 Super Mario 64 and Super Mario World are connected 0:38 used on Super Mario 64 0:54 that look of Mario used by Super Mario World and that's it. Edit: I mean the cover of Super Mario 64
I feel like pirated games always have a strict guideline they need to follow or something. The levels always need to be really badly designed, even if the original didn't have bad level design The graphics need to look worse You can only have one song play throughout the entire game Box art needs to have no effort put into it Bad controls. Bonus points if the controls of the original game these are inevitably going to be hacks of didn't have as bad of controls Game must be a LOT harder then it needs to be BONUS: uncanny, low-budget mascot of the pirate company thrown in for good measure. Even more bonus points if it's a ripoff of another character.
I bought this game in a 32 pack when I was 9 and yes, this was hell, but in the pack there were other very nice hacks. There was a hack of TMNT 3 Radical rescue with a much better map, and many different mario land games... it was Mario land 1 but each of them started from a different level, like a save feature. I could play just the last 3 levels if I wanted. Some hacks were great.
It's something I introduced in the previous video so that you know if you have enough time to finish reading or if you'll need to pause it, since everyone reads at a different pace. I know some people don't like it but others said it really helps so it's gonna stick around.
Yeah the original game has way better level designs and is actually fun to play. No cheap death or anything. Shin-Chang’s sprite isn’t larger that it seems so it is unlikely to fall in unexpected manner and at least they don’t put tons of pits in the original game. How I wish they’d just kept the original levels.
This is the level design you would expect from the Super Mario Flash level editor
dont disrespect my boy like that ever again

I LITERALLY had this cartridge for my Gameboy Advance SP, growing up!
Literally, not objectively????
i spent way too long trying to escape from some of the trapped areas in this game. never again!
Kong like donkey Kong from Mario movie 19:17 19:17 19:18 19:20
"Crayon Shin-chan 4: Ora no Itazura Dai Henshin" is the Original, I have no idea how they managed to make such a terrible Hack out of it
I like how Mario has buttons on the back of his overalls when climbing!
I haven't seen this bootleg since i was a child, this is madness LOL
Some friends of mine had it at the time
7:43 i guess that screen fade takes advantage of the fact that the original game boy has some screen blur
When I saw those scorpion sprites, I was immediately reminded of the ones from Sonic 3D Blast 5.
Nice Video !

Congrats, that's the most misinformed version of that story I've ever heard.

Normal Mario Here Looks Almost Like the Mario from World Heroes 2 for the NES (a Bootleg Game)
oh god he's shakin' it
The sad thing is... as bootleg Jeff Goldbloom would say, "bootlegs will always find a way (to appear)"
There will always be bootlegs
Oh and that music!

Why in the world would the piraters lie about Nintendo making this game? Wow, just wow.
Even these bootleggers weren't proud of their game so they lie that Nintendo made it. (or just to make it look more official)

will you ever review Terrifying 9.11 at some point?
Probably not. I thought of it at some point years ago but now that my channel's partnered and stuff it probably wouldn't be a very smart choice.

Better play the original Shin-Chan game this is based on.
Much better than this bootleg.
