I saw this in 1986 or 87 when I was visiting my father in Aurora, CO. There was a PBS station that I couldn't get in my hometown, and I happened to be channel surfing and landed on this.
It's truly sad that so many today haven't seen this - it's why it's here, of course, but this is so very wonderful. Certainly MeTV or one of the other digital subchannel networks that runs "The Odd Couple" or "The Bob Newhart Show" should have access to this.
So wonderful! I never saw this one growing up. And it was directed by Jay Sandrich! He did The Odd Couple, Mary Tyler Moore, WKRP in Cincinnati, and hundreds of other classics.
Such talented people worked on this series. This episode had Jack Klugman and Bob Newhart in it of course.Directed by Jay Sandrich.Father Keisler produced a wonderful show.
Saw this in an alcohol / drug rehab when I was 21 in 1985. First time finding it since but never forgot it. Was wonderful then and is wonderful now. And if you’re curious … I got my act together, had successful career, family and semi-retired now.
You wonder if God sat Bob down and critiqued his performance in this wonderful series. This of course, after he said "Hi Bob" and heaven took a collective drink.
The comic timing and chemistry was perfect between Klugman and Newhart.

I love Bob Newhart and he's great in this, how perfect would this episode have been if Tony Randall played God. 🙂

Love these shows! Didn't know they existed until now. Really have enjoyed watching them. Thanks for posting these!
So many stars! It’s a miracle Insight got all those great actors to do their morality plays. No pun intended!
Great show
This made me smile.
Wow. Who were the 23 people who didn't like this? Amazing.
You never know--they were probably trying to hit the like button and missed :)
Atheists
A VERY memorable episode of the series.
Twilight Zone with a religious twist. Nice message.
Exactly!
Fantastic
Great performances; this has always been one of my favorite portrayals of God

A schlemiel is someone who always spills soup. A schlimazel is the one the schlemiel always spills soup on.
Awesome classic material, and good people.
How are these not on DVD?

Who's peeling onions?? This was sweet.
One of our favorites of all the Insights!
I wrote a book thirty years after seeing and forgetting this show. It's a very expanded version of the same. :)
What book?
Was around 70s never heard of this show.

Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your story--we love to hear them!
I love the Insight intro and credits roll😢
Bob Hartley meets Oscar Madison!
As of 9-15-2022 Bob Newhart is still alive
Great!

Bob Almighty or When Oscar cleans himself up.
RIP Bob Newhart
Now if you do this Hollywood would blacklist you or treat you like an outcast.
I wonder why Bob Newhart got his own show, a sitcom, no less
Jack Klugman is a great character actor.
Bob Newhart? He's clearly a JAG
Maybe Newhart and God can do that Harpo Marx/Lucille Ball thing when he gets there.
