Yan and Xiao will really give a hard time. though their set and key pages are fun to use. I personally think this is the final hard wall to beat before you ready for the blue hobo gang.
I've just finished the game(found your channel after I got dabbed on by big bird two days ago LOL), I've been following your series ever since, I especially like the insight on individual cards, key pages and abno pages - keep the good work!!
Aye man, I wanna say, thank you a whole lot for your guides, I started watching your guide around when I was fighting the Crying Children. and your videos carried me through the lower floor realizations afterward as well. frankly, I was scared about what was coming since there wasn't any guide on the middle floor realizations and I was worried about future fights. But thanks to your video, I could understand the game better. I could handle Chesd Gebura and Tip's realization by myself (then again Gebura isn't that hard with the funny red mist). Now I am almost done with Star of the City. I've just beaten Distored Yan in part thanks to your help, but in other parts from my own sweat and tears. only Xiao is left now, and I'm hoping I will be able to finish her myself. so from the bottom of my heart, thanks, man. for making this game slightly less painful for me
Just being Nikolai with Disposal, use The floor of Myongest, stagger him on the endure phase and kill with Disposal. It has to happen on the same scene tho.
This is actually the only fight I managed to trigger Mountain of Corpses on. It ended up being super close, which was really sweet. It was the only 'final fight' in this act that i cleared on the first try cause of that. Messenger is a nice "glue" ability to just shore up whatever weakness your other 4 decks have and let you play a bit greedier. Until this point i felt obligated to run Battle Prep or Skim Prescript, so having Yan to pad my bad draws basically unlocked a whole attribution slot for most of my librarians. Needless to say, Yan was on my main team for a long time (until i got Trigrams). Ominous Power... I was really intrigued by it. It seems incredibly bad if you're playing it fairly, and incredibly broken if you're playing it unfairly. I never ended up figuring out a way to abuse it though so it just ended up collecting dust for me.
That must of been really intense lol. I definitely agree with you here, messenger is a great way to shore up the weaknesses of your other decks or gameplay. There have been quite a few times where I've been 1 light short of casting something or where I didn't have the right page in hand and was saved by messenger. Ominous Power is definitely a very hard page to use. Even I struggle to use it to it's full potential but it can definitely be extremely broken.
I somehow managed to kill it with a run of the mill deck by nuking it before he got to the second phase with disposal and whatnot Now whenever I try the fight it just kicks my ass.
I did not know that the hands where getting buffed by yan directly and i kept on malding why the hands keep on rolling higher than my nuggets and Gebura her self. Me -> Classic PM player not reading. Anyways thanks for the guides and for this one, I finally beat him after like 5 tries.
Ominous Power my beloved, as you said the the video it has a high ceiling, ang when you use it it really is good, one of the best decks that i made using ominous power is a defensive team in the floor of religion, honestly any passives is fine but use double kick for damage, keeping in stride for recovery, and general defensive buffs. This team has 2 decks the first deck has 3 Ominous Powers 2 Combat Preparation 1 Field mods/1 333... 1973 3 Bia ans This deck is given to 4 librarians to stack endurance to everyone, at maximum constant potential you should get 8 endurance per scene because every librarian should play a Combat Prep and 1 or 2 bi ans per scene. The second deck has different passives to the other librarians with Puffy Brume, Smoke Overflow, Excess Supplies, Offensive Position, or any damage passives. This deck has 3 Smoking Pipe 2 Feint 2 Vapour 2 Bi an The job of this deck is to deal huge damage against staggered enemies, Smoking Pipe is there for light restoration, to gain a bit of smoke, as well as to take advantage of the constant team endurance, Feint is a 1 cost 3 offensive dice page only used for one sided attacks to deal huge damage, Vapour is for card draw, smoke gain, and damage, and the Bi an is for page draw and clashing. This team is very funny to use because i've seen the counter die from Bi An win a clash with Celestial Spear, as well as Combat Prep near full countering Divinatory Impact
These decks are so deranged, but they definitely look effective. I think Ominous Power is one of the most under rated cards in the entire game tbh. It's somewhat hard to use, but so powerful when you have something that works well with it.
and here i was thinking i was finnaly done with bosses after purple tear then i notice there's more levels from the thumb and liu assosiation i am scared to see what xiao has to offer
reached the part where he fused with hands, most of my librarians died to his mass attack 😭, really need deck recommendations cause I don't think my current ones are that good
Great video! I've never thought that redirecting Yan's attacks is actually a thing before so I tried to focus fire down one hand with my weak light and page regen cards and got annilated by the counter dices. A few questions I'd like to ask though: How good is sturdy defense in this scenario? I've always brought atleast one in any decks as it's a pretty good jack-offf-all-trades parry page with page regen. It did fairly against Compress and Furry of Fists but I still consistantly lost despite the powerful second block. When I'm building my deck at first, I also considered repressed flesh and emotional turbulence, but I still find them too inconsistant with the rolls and still got annilated often by something like "Flurry of Fists". How can I solve this? How well would status effects work on the hands? I've tried technological floor mass paralysis spam and Myo's Prowess + The strongest on Yesod but it was less effective than I expect. Then I tried Xiao's Page with Crying Children's Passives. The burn damage was a nice addition but not enough to be a major firepower. How effective is Xiao's pages in this scenario? I've tried some of them and all of them got decent rolls, yet they still appear to be ineffective. Also off topic thing I beated Xiao AND Yan in one try both with only 1 casualties. However the weird thing is that despite my numerous attempts to improve or recreate my original deck, I still lost more than 10 times to Yen for some reason. Perhaps I was just lucky in the first try. When I was about to fight Xiao I was super stressed since the internet has discussed endless times about how hard Xiao fight is and how they got stacks of burn on their librarians on the 3 digits. Yet I beated it with no problem and hardly any resistance since I'm already used to Raging Fire: Love and just decided to ignore and focus fire her with my remaining vacant speed dices. Only 1 of my librarians got more than 10 stacks of burn and one of them didn't even get past 5 burn for the entire fight. How odd.
Sturdy Defense is a solid counter page for flurry of fists and is decent for compress. It's likely to beat the 2 on compress, but even if you don't, the block will mitigate most of the dmg (although you will likely lose on 3) Emotional Turbulence and Repressed Flesh are both very good bomb pages, but the unempowered rolls are only slightly better than flurry of fists. Power boosters are your biggest tool. Emotional Turbulence has it built in, but things like Fervor, Locked Potential, Volatile Passion on Xiao, or even stuff like High-Level Acrobatics and Lions Paw could work. Nikolais Battle Command can also contribute. The thing about Repressed Flesh and Emotional Turbulence is that they aren't guaranteed to win, but it's statistically likely (if the hand is being targeted by the 3 strength page then you'll probably lose though). Status defects are pretty good, but still less valuable than pure power boosters. Consider that 3 paralysis is less valuable than 2 strength and anything more than 3 is useless for this reception. Status defects are firmly in the "nice to have" category, but not a focus. Burn is alright, but it's best in multiples so if you're not all-in on it, then just using it tk enable Xiao’s stuff is fine. Xiao’s key page is solid (see my guide for that reception for some more in-depth thoughts) but the combat pages other than Fiery Dragon Slash are just fine. Overall, the key ideas for Yan is to prevent strength from going onto the hands, and whittle down their hp while maintaining your own. Myongest helps out a ton as long as you redirect vigil away from them.
Thanks! After watching your video and trying it out, I realised that the major issue was that I wasn't redirecting the +3 strength. With that out of the way I stormed the reception with at max only 1 casualty. Turns out the +3 really made a major difference and was the main reason of my defeat.
I think ominous power is a lot more flexible than you think. Ominous power can work with every card draw the only condition is having enough draw. Its honestly kinda broken because its not played as usual card so it doesnt takes up a speed dice AND every card you play is a strong card. There some annoying things about it tho. Max light is 8 not 9 so you miss out on some light and its not optimal to use only 3 cost. Also it teached me that max size of hand is 8 cuz it stoped drawing cards I need cuz I boged my deck with 3 useless cards. So thats why I usually use that exaust revive card of sweepers. tWotC is fine. I dont really see why its so strong when its demands you 2 light which makes your deck slow. Its kinda like unlock in a way. Its also weird that its blind faith fault that it doesnt synergise with tWotC and not the other way around. Also its will be bad in any heavy mass attack deck and just any heavy cost deck. XIao for example will suffer greatly from only using tWotC. Although you said you mostly use only one copy of it which means other recource pages can cover its downside. But I really cant see it being that strong if there other recource pages needed for it to work without downside.
Ominous Power is definitely quite strong, it's biggest downside is it's somewhat difficult to use and you can end up screwing yourself over. I personally only used it as a panic button on my PT, but it's definitely one of highest ceiling cards in the game. I say WotC is the best card in the game because it's the only universal draw/light restore page. The most limiting factor in your damage is speed die slots, so having cards play double duty is very strong. Having multiples is rarely an issue (in my non-singleton, non-charge decks I usually run 2 or 3) because of how the max light works. Scene 1 2 + 2, scene 2 3+2, etc. It definitely gets a lot worse on characters with 3 max light because of that which is it's biggest failing, but that's very minimal when you have access to more than 5 pages with 4 max light. The downside of it costing 2 initially is definitely a consideration, but having most of your deck be pages that clash well instead of needing dedicated page draw and light restoration is very important imo. Almost every deck is better for running 1 copy, with most being better with 2 or even 3. My playstyle is very heavily focused on resource management, and WotC is among the best pages for resource management, only rivaled by singleton pages.
Essentially TWotC is just so powerful because it takes the role of 2 resource pages at once, though the 2 cost is a bit rough to deal with if you don't have other light restore or draws. It just allows so much leeway for decks, and in the niche case of Roland's floor, synergizes insanely well with Lies because of it's higher cost. It either becomes a 0 cost page draw at worst, or a 3 light 1 draw page!
@@AilithNix Hmmm when I think about it I never really evalueted key pages with 4 light highly and just I used key pages that were good for what Im trying to do. Maybe thats why I didnt feel like its working for me. I myself mostly focus on synergy so instead of using most raw amount of value like recource gain and just power of dice I always think of what Im trying to achieve and then I look at all recource pages and never default to some options and try to consider every page. A lot of the time I have very specific deck at the end of deckbuilding that works well with its self and passives which leaves no room for tWotC. Yeah I think its just again playstyle diffrence. Its kinda funny how much diffrently I play the game from most people.
I try not to have preset decks because people have different playstyles and such, this fight doesn't have any specific requirements so using your strongest pages will the the best. For decks, my guides all have decks for the pages that get unlocked, all of which are reasonable to use.
Got any tips on what attributes I should use for Yan? First I decided to just use lowell's keypage + both haulers (using this a semi support and general singleton for Xiao) but then I decided to use lowell as well for my team comp. I just can't decide on Yan since I want to assign him a role as opposed to lowell who I'll make as a strong clasher.
The standard is double power booster + single hauler or keeping in stride/ electric shock. I built my Yan singleton so I out on Fervor and Locked Potential but it'll also partly depend on how you build the deck.
Do you have any deck recommendations for this fight? I have mostly everything aside from Xiao’s page and cards (Act 2, I killed Miris already), and the struggle is quite real
certainly, if you've beaten everything except for Xiao and Yan, then your best bet is to use Gebura's floor with Kali, PT, Nikolai, Esther, and Rudolph. Kali will run 3x Spear, 3x Level Slash, 2x FocusSpirit, 1x onrush with Myo's Prowess, Fervor, and Keeping in Stride. PT will run 3x Overcharge, 2x Leap, 2x Energy Conversion, 1x Serpentine Barrier, 1x Graze the Grass on specifically guard stance with Triple R-suit, Charged Shield, Energy Discharge and Health Hauler. Nikolai will run Graze the Grass, Multislash, Energy Cycle, Bulky Impact, Quick Suppression, Concentration, Battle Command, Will of the Prescript, and Emotional Turbulence with Maximum Crash, Bionic Charge-Synchronized Hull, and Heal Hauler. Esther will run Graze the Grass, Puppet Blockade, Multislash, Venomous Fangs, Somber Procuration, Laceration, Emotional Turbulence, Will of the Prescript, and Castigation with Fervor, Wedge, and Health Hauler Rudolph will run 2x Graze the Grass, 2x Leap, 1x Energy Conversion, 1x Bulky Impact, 2x Concentration, and Mind Crush with Charged Shield, Energy Discharge, Keeping in Stride, and Mind Hauler. The main feature are your Kali PT and Nikolai, but your Esther and Rudolph can still hold their own just fine. The key takeaway though is to use your utility page to redirect Yan's Attack away from the hands to prevent them from getting strength, and Vigil away from your Kali if possible. Using your utility pages will obviously be the best way to do that.
I'd say fervor + a hauler and then either locked potential if you're going singleton, or a damage type specific passive otherwise once you get to the last chapter and have 12 points, you can add on a second hauler, easygoing breather, or electric shock + keeping in stride as additional options.
Depends on how you build your deck. I'm going singleton so right now I have fervor, locked potential, health hauler. For Impuritas, I'd add on easygoing breather or mind hauler probably.
Y’know I actually though I could do some non-abnormality fights without a guide (reading is boring okay?) and the I got to the purple tear. Went to the right and got xiao, went further to the right and got execution by firing squad. Went to the left and got this guy. Although I can probably beat the rabbits, just need to steer clear of mountain of corpses
@@AilithNix yeah I beat both R corps, turns out using the mountain of corpses page doesn’t end well when you have 5 enemies, each with an extra speed dice
Before I tried beating this fight with Yesod and lost 3 times in a row, then I decided to give in and distort. By distort I mean use myongest. Then I won first try afterwards. I should distort more often fr
just beat both xiao and yan after switching back to yesod's floor with a myongest purple tear build, beat them both first try with solemn lament... guess i shouldnt have switched to netzach's floor
This fuck max rolled on most of his mass attacks during every time I tried to farm his books. I might have to just wait til I get better pages cause I don't want to stress out trying to get more copies of 'Will of the City'
yeah, although The Will of the City is the best card, it's by no means mandatory for progression, even a playset of 5 is usually enough because some decks don't want copies, and you can spread them out with singleton.
For key pages use whatever your strongest key pages are, the row 3 gold pages are the best (alongside the red mist), then Esther, then the r-corp purple pages. The easiest floor to use is Gebura’s since you can use the red mist with myos prowess
i beat Yan first try with language (ignore red mist myongest, other strong as shit keypages and purple tear) That aside, wielder of purple tear page Xavier tanked two distorted blades i legit only won because of that
First time I saw Yan in Carnival while in vc with my friend watching me I was like "Oh that's the guy you were talking about, I mean the girl. Wait guy, no wait is he male or female?"
hello i need your help i have beaten everything in sotc except yan currently going through middle floor realizations just did tiphs now on gebura i cant beat yan yan is too hard please help thankyou your guides are extermely useful ♥
Using Xiao, PT, Nikolai, Kali, and Esther will probably be the best loadout. Running charge guard stance PT and myongest Gebura, while using your esther to redirect Vigil off of Gebura and redirect Attack off of the hands. Your PT and Gebura will be your main clashers and you should be able to kill Yan in two phases. Generally when people are struggling it's because their decks aren't built properly so make sure your decks are as strong as they can be!
Just a generic singleton deck. Graze the grass, puppet blockade, unlock, multislash, fiery dragon slash, will of the prescript, emotional turbulence, fervid emotions, raging storm love Volatile passion, flaring brand, mind hauler, keeping in stride
@@AilithNix myongest gebura, purple tear, maxim, Nikolai and smoke yae. Also I'm just dumb I totally forgot about the protection buffs he gives, I remembered after watching this and beat him lol

So what deck should I use specifically? I don’t see any certain decks :3
I try not to have preset decks because people have different playstyles and such, this fight doesn't have any specific requirements so using your strongest pages will the the best. For decks, my guides all have decks for the pages that get unlocked, all of which are reasonable to use.
you mean there was an auto battle this whole time..? i aint noticed that before..
Yeah if you press p it'll auto assign your pages, it's pretty bad though so I'd advise against using it.
Esther will run Graze the Grass, Puppet Blockade, Multislash, Venomous Fangs, Somber Procuration, Laceration, Emotional Turbulence, Will of the Prescript, and Castigation with Fervor, Wedge, and Health Hauler
Rudolph will run 2x Graze the Grass, 2x Leap, 1x Energy Conversion, 1x Bulky Impact, 2x Concentration, and Mind Crush with Charged Shield, Energy Discharge, Keeping in Stride, and Mind Hauler.
@@AilithNix what can i replace with purple tear if i dont have her
@chaosplank210 pretty much any decent page, the deck won't be the same but if they start with 4 light then they're viable.
Hey! Do u got any passives that I could give him? Idk if you put passives in the video-
I'd say fervor + a hauler and then either locked potential if you're going singleton, or a damage type specific passive otherwise
once you get to the last chapter and have 12 points, you can add on a second hauler, easygoing breather, or electric shock + keeping in stride as additional options.
@@AilithNix alr, thanks!
Any tips for Yan's attributed passive?
Depends on how you build your deck. I'm going singleton so right now I have fervor, locked potential, health hauler. For Impuritas, I'd add on easygoing breather or mind hauler probably.
Y’know I actually though I could do some non-abnormality fights without a guide (reading is boring okay?) and the I got to the purple tear. Went to the right and got xiao, went further to the right and got execution by firing squad. Went to the left and got this guy. Although I can probably beat the rabbits, just need to steer clear of mountain of corpses
R-corp is probably the easiest one of the 4 to beat, as long as you maintain your momentum you can wipe the last two phases in a couple of scenes.
Myongest is certainly something...
just beat both xiao and yan after switching back to yesod's floor with a myongest purple tear build, beat them both first try with solemn lament... guess i shouldnt have switched to netzach's floor
Yesod's floor is the strongest one in the game by a decent amount
This fuck max rolled on most of his mass attacks during every time I tried to farm his books. I might have to just wait til I get better pages cause I don't want to stress out trying to get more copies of 'Will of the City'
yeah, although The Will of the City is the best card, it's by no means mandatory for progression, even a playset of 5 is usually enough because some decks don't want copies, and you can spread them out with singleton.
I have a question about decks, what key pages should i use for the fight and what library layer is suggested the best as i am struggling a bit
For key pages use whatever your strongest key pages are, the row 3 gold pages are the best (alongside the red mist), then Esther, then the r-corp purple pages. The easiest floor to use is Gebura’s since you can use the red mist with myos prowess
Is there lore reasons why his name is SPECIFICALLY in korean, while everything else is in english? I seem to forgot..
Not that I know of. His name is the result of typing "Distorted Yan" on a korean qwerty keyboard so says the wiki
@@AilithNix oh qwerty huh. Yea im interested if theres any lore behind this cipher decision
i beat Yan first try with language
(ignore red mist myongest, other strong as shit keypages and purple tear)
That aside, wielder of purple tear page Xavier tanked two distorted blades
i legit only won because of that
we love slash damage endured :)
First time I saw Yan in Carnival while in vc with my friend watching me I was like "Oh that's the guy you were talking about, I mean the girl. Wait guy, no wait is he male or female?"
Classic Yan
hello i need your help i have beaten everything in sotc except yan currently going through middle floor realizations just did tiphs now on gebura i cant beat yan yan is too hard please help thankyou your guides are extermely useful ♥
@@AilithNix Oh okay thanks got it ! hopefully i can beat him now what deck for xiao would you run tho?
Just a generic singleton deck. Graze the grass, puppet blockade, unlock, multislash, fiery dragon slash, will of the prescript, emotional turbulence, fervid emotions, raging storm love
Volatile passion, flaring brand, mind hauler, keeping in stride
@@AilithNix alright will try thanks!
@@AilithNix Thank you so much it worked ! 😀
4:22 This game has an auto-battle function??
Yeah, the targeting is pretty dumb though so it's not recommended for most fights.
@@AilithNix Huh. I'm at my final fight for star of the city and I never even knew the option was there
I beat him first try but can't beat him anymore afterwards help 😭😭😭
What decks are you using?
@@AilithNix myongest gebura, purple tear, maxim, Nikolai and smoke yae.
Also I'm just dumb I totally forgot about the protection buffs he gives, I remembered after watching this and beat him lol
@Rysc. Ah that'll do it
Hi, can you do a tiphereth realization guide?
24th of April or 1st of May will be tiph realization
Well I’m gonna do third row first
best of luck~
i some how completed Xiao and purple tear by firing squad but lost this mf bru
Yan can't be killed with firing squad like the ofher row 3 bosses can, Yan's fight is a lot easier to do standard than the other bosses tho
@@AilithNix i fought them using redmist(myo) , xiao singleton, emma, purple tear and lowell i keep dying to the mass attack staggering everyone and not being able to finish off yan at his final phase
@@AilithNix just defeated him i used nemo (with R corp passives) instead of emma was quite close to losing though
He dead?
Yeah :(
ok so wtf i just beat red mist and now im dealing with this abomination
hateful
Shittiest boss in the game by far. Like actually unfun.
I found Yan to be like fine. Although I'm biased because I really liked his story arc :V
The floor of true unga always wins
Many such cases
