I wish my Dad who was a diesel and automotive mechanic were alive to see your tractor videos. He'd enjoy them ...or maybe sad to wonder what might have been...he and Mom turned down an offer my mother's uncle for our family to come live on his farm as its resident mechanic and farm hands. What a life we might have had, surrounded by his family and many other of my mom's aunts, uncles, and cousins instead of alone in the city.
Never thought l would ever look for a video from a guy taking me on his farm and sharing his life . l cannot tell you how much l have enjoyed every video you have made. As a boy in the 1950s, I loved those old bearings. We would take the balls bearings out and use them as steelies in our marathon marble games. They were fantastic for trading.
Watch Squatch 253 all the time, I am subscribed to his channel as well. He does great work as well as you. Yes he is very meticulous in his rebuilds, as you can be at times, but this is the reason, the rebuilds last for years after, and are used, not a show piece. I find everyone has their own ways to do the same tasks, and it all seems to work out in the end. I very much enjoy watching you in the rebuilding stages of your equipment as you show the why, and how of doing something.
Happy critters, dry critters, well fed critters. They have a good life. Love these repair videos. Since my brain is wired to understand things mechanical, I've always enjoyed taking things apart to see how they work. It helps when time to diagnose the source of noises too. Especially love the simplicity of the old stuff.

I live in southern MN and we got 8.5 inches of snow on Friday the 14th. Probably the same storm just moving your way. Squatch is so meticulous, that when someone has worked on something of his before and they did a hack job, he gets a twitch in his eye. Just ask him, he'll tell ya. He's a great professional wrench. Highly recommend his channel.
I remember the differential for Dad's M, and H out in our garage next to a potbelly stove. You are correct. It's not complicated with a basic grasp of physics. A very good mechanic I knew wasn't literate. I think I've mentioned that we fed small numbers of hogs as a hobby. Minnesota has a similar climate. We usually had a excess of oat straw so we would build a framework of 6 inch by 12 foot tree limbs. Perhaps 10 by 10 will 3 foot clearance. We then covered the structure with 8 foot of straw. The entrance would face south. There was still slow growth in the winter, but not as bad as a wood frame building. I enjoy seeing you do similar things. Thanks Pete.

Yep, Squatch is ~980 miles directly South of me. He is a Ford mechanic, as a day job, and an awesome antique Caterpillar, mostly, rebuilder/mechanic, in his spare time. Best wishes from the far North.

i love watching your videos! so glad i found your channel! i check daily for new videos, and rewatch quite a few. it is amazing, but i watched one of your first videos, the difference in your pasture grass is nothing short of amazing. you may not notice, but it jumped at me off the TV screen. you have done a wonderful job with your farm. Here's hoping one of the children catches your love of the farm and carries on the tradition!
You explained the 'differential' perfectly and I closely looked at the pictures, stopped the video to make sure i got it and when you were done, I understood nothing,, have no idea how it works and you may as well have spoken a foreign language to me! Mind you, I watched how you took the entire tractor apart and found it most interesting! Did not bore me at all and I will watch again when you reassemble the thousand of pieces until it looks like your tractor once again. I can knit, sew, crochet and paint; I studied art. and speak more than one language, but anything complicated mechanical or electric hits the wall in front of my brain. Let's face it; there is something missing! :)

It's a beautiful ole tractor my late husband had big plans for restoration to the old tractor. But then never happened so I have a nice old Moline I need to find it a good new home . I truly LOVE all of your videos!! I'm from a small town in NC with a bunch of farmer's and farms. I was raised on 48 acres myself and we raised all the animals that you do except for cows. We lived in an ancient old house that was built in the early 1800's that we had to repair and rebuild. You make every single video so interesting that I can't stop watching. I'm a 911 Dispatcher for our county and in between our 911 calls I'm watching your videos and have gotten my co-workers watching with me! Thank you for what you do!!
Hey Pete normally with our tractors when one tire starts spinning we press that brake so that the other tire has more power to it. Great explanation on how a differential works
A perfect day to stay in the shop and work on the tractor. It's been cold in Idaho, down to -3 a couple of days, but today it's a warm 25 degrees and foggy. I think I'll stay indoors and watch RUclips videos. You're making good progress with the tractor, and looking forward to the end results. It should be better than new.

Very best, very best way to take care of your animals in the winter time. When I was a kid there was a couple of Belgian bachelor farmers. These brothers live just down the road from us. On the neighboring farm. When the weather got really cold and snowy they'd bring the critters inside the house with them Thinking of that over the winners as I grew older I realized the key was being bachelors. LOL But I was thinking, Pete. You might try the little sausages and see how that goes over.
My son said "you can't grow hot dogs" and my husband said "of course you can" and I said "I even have the perfect video for you." I showed him your thumbnail and said, "Look! Hot dog seeds!" :D Love that you call them little sausages.
We didn't fare so well with the cold, lost a few goats, couldn't get high enough guality feed in time. Heritage hogs do okay in the cold, we just had a heat lamp for the piglets. Yeah those big bearings are expensive and hard to get. I reused as many as I could too, couldn,t get the dust shields in Canada though. I like Squatch,s channel too. I gave you a shoutout on my baby goats and tragedy video a while back. Thanks Pete, take care

Just a few acres farm , what happened to the cool and neat banjo intro ? it goes along very well with all aspects of farm life . Love the little pigs , so cute but worry about them staying warm when it is so cold .
Love Squach253! Great job on your tear down Pete. I restored my families Farmall H and went through a lot of this process. Ended up keeping my IHC bearings though. They were just too original to replace.

In the movie “My Cousin Vinny”, there is a great reference to the differential, referring to traction. “If you’ve ever been stuck in the Alabama mud, you know; one wheel spins and the other does nothing.” LOL👍🏻
Unless it's a Pontiac Tempest which has a limited slip differential. 😀
Tractors have individual brakes to the drives. If you touch the brake to the spinning side, power is transmitted to the other side.

Just a few acres farm , what happened to the cool and neat banjo intro ? it goes along very well with all aspects of farm life . Love the little pigs , so cute but worry about them staying warm when it is so cold .
