love your videos, just did my first triathlon last week the 70.3 in Hawaii. Was such an amazing journey to the finish line. finished in a 7:30. lots of lessons learned and will definitely be back next year!
well, there are abviously differences between a competitor and somebody, who is not competing consistency.....yes, now for the fifth year in a row 60 plus miles every week year round purpose.....each and every run i run with a purpose......stay healthy and happy fueling....after decades of eating like a garbage truck, i am once again clean without any relapses since 2013, and i am closing in on my weight i had 40 years ago race simulations....although i have not raced for around 8 years, from time to time i do race simulations over different distances, what gives me a lot of joy, and i almost get the same positive tension, i used to have before a real race mindset......right, i love to give my mind something to achieve and get me to....but, and that is where the biggest difference is, never any more suffering or pain, no more pushing through, no more crossing the red line and staying in the pain cave for hours and hours,,,,,,i am no thriathlete, i am no competitor, i am just an old fashioned runner
So much great advice during your run. I’ve gotten lazy some and stopped practicing a lot of that. Ie transition practice, fueling practice. Also great job on zwift hub tutorial.
Awesome video, really learning and being inspired by this series. A few questions for consideration as you dive deeper on the 5 areas: 1/supplementation - what are your daily go to’s. I am doing a pre-workout, fish oil, Creatine, multi vitamin, and protein scoop in water after workouts. You have talked about this before, but don’t think I have heard you touch on pre-workout or Creatine (seems to be a consistent recommendation across many fitness types -I.e. Peter attia). 2/what do you focus on through the pain when running/biking? Sometimes I count to a thousand to take my mind off the pain - this doesn’t really work that great…I have noticed that my mind will create pain at about 3/4 of the way through a run. Strangely this happens on a mid distance run and a longer run. I know it’s all about how have I adapted the workout to my expectations - if I have a longer run the pain almost always comes a little later in my mind… as you said the mental toughness plays a key role. Thank you. And great work.
Thank you for the ideas! I will definitely talk about those in up coming videos. I have had mental walls to do with distance in the past. I feel like every time you push through them you ouch them out a little bit further.
Hi Clare. I had a coach for many years and it was great. Starting at the beiginning I started creating all of my own training. I have recently started working with a friend on programming my runs as I try to balance 70.3 and marathon training.
Haha. Yes it is. It’s really old. This property was old but big. Bought it about six years ago and remodeled the house. Haven’t done anything to update the court yet.

Good info CJAYE as usual thanks for giving out hard learned lessons.
Thank you John!
Thank you, CJaye. What if you did a 1.2 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and a 12 mile run to celebrate 12k subscribers?
Not a bad idea!!! I have ridden 112 miles in a long time. May have to wait until after Morro to do that!
Love your content!

Is that a tennis court in your backyard?
Haha. Yes it is. It’s really old. This property was old but big. Bought it about six years ago and remodeled the house. Haven’t done anything to update the court yet.
