When you said the contrast between the dark ink and the paper is so big and intimidating, it got me thinking: Why not use toned paper for inktober? Like gray or brown, that could make it easier! :o
I know you aren't fishing for compliments or anything and I know that positive comments get drowned out by the few negative ones, but I freaking love your art. I think the turtles were great and despite the issues you mentioned, I really like the snake girl. She seems like she would be an anime villain or something. As for the questioning yourself or worrying about repeating your work, it's very relatable, but I just go with deep breathes and try not to worry because you notice that more than anyone else. People gravitate towards you or become your fans because of those very things you draw, it's unlikely they're going to just do a 180 and start to hate them. If they do, that's their problem. Anyway, that's my encouragement for now. Looking forward to more Jeltober!
Love the orange and black combo. And a lot of relatable points. It feels like drawing challenges/prompts should lift you out of the abyss of the comfort zone, but I find myself drawing (almost always) familiar things while trying to fit in a (forced) narrative. It must be a harder struggle when you're an artist. Hope you have fun for the remainder of the month.
"I don't know what i'm saying anymore." *me with my thoughts also trying to explain to myself and understand at the same time.. what and how i am doing with not just with my art but with my life -,- It's okay to not like it. And also give yourself some rest if you get bummed out -,- sometimes that's all it needs. Thank you jelaaarrrtt ^3^/ stay safe!!
I really like this orange black mix of color it's very interesting and pretty. I'm doing an old kind of fantasy inktober right know but I'm thinking about doing jeltober in November to keep on drawing every day 🙂🍁🍂 Great video and drawings
I love your characters and drawing style! I love the cuteness of it! There is NOTHING wrong with sticking to what you LOVE to draw, especially during Inktober when a lot of us feel pressured to do something perfect (or radically different) every day. :) To me, just some of the prompts and forcing myself to work with permanent fine liners is a challenge. Thanks for sharing with us!
dang it I was gonna watch this then sleep but now all I wanna do is draw no matter how sleepy I am no but seriously Jel I've been sketching in my sketchbook more often now and am happy with how my pages look, thanks to you💜💜
I love this honest rant or thoughts you have while making your drawings, it helps us other artists know how you actually deal with these problems that were otherwise kept a secret.
I am, in fact, one of those people that really likes your Slither drawing. Then again, I like snakes. XD But all of them are super cute! The floppy ears one was cute, too!
I prefer making my own prompt lists for challenge months as well. This month is all about OCs because i wanted to draw something that makes me happy so I’m doing OCTober. I’m doing it all digitally. Yeah.
I love your work so much! I actually enjoy it when you return to conventions you already explored. I'm going through a lot in life right now and I find your art very comforting!
Your illustrations are so pretty ! Art is about having fun, so no problem if you draw like the 100th animal with scarfs of woodland creatures ;) It sure is enough and we will never get bored! I’m doing the official prompt list but also following yours. I made them all so far but thinking about a way to post them, as they are all cats on an a6 size card
I definitely relate to feeling like I’m having a creative crisis. I feel bored with my art so thing often turn out boring or plain and I end feeling really discouraged (and dumb social media algorithms don’t help either). I just really miss enjoying the process of making art and looking at the stuff I’ve made and feeling proud, even if it wasn’t perfect 😞
I really like your inking style ❤️ it would be amazing to see printables or postcard prints in your shop! I use Molotow paint pens in white and off white for corrections and highlights in my paintings (and sometimes mixing both to fit better). I like paint pens better than gel pens most times depending on the paper. They feel easier to use to me.^^ There is no cheating in art, the end result counts ;)
These all look amazing!!! But I understand that inner critic gets in the way. Also posca has an ivory color that might be what you’re looking for for highlights. Also i love how honest you are about your feelings about the process
i really love your videos, they are so chill. they kinda remind me of Emily Susanah's nail art videos. they're just fully hypnotic. eeeeeasy watchin.' i love your inkotber drawings they're beautiful.
Oh gosh, I can relate to so many of your art struggles :'))) But you're doing such a great job for this inktober!! And it's really satisfying watching you ink your drawings! Thanks for sharing the process with us and keep up the amazingg work!!
This was so inspiring to start inktober, Im okay with being late, but I think it will kick me back into drawing again. Your amazing and so is your art, I have been watching you for years and you have grown so much, have a great october 🎃👻🎃
aaaa these prompts are so cute, i love the snail! also you're not alone on what i call the "Artist crisis" haha sometimes it's more serious and sometimes it's just feeling randomly stuck on things like style or subject of drawings and what you want to do. The good thing about an art challenge is you sort of push yourself to keep going despite all those feelings, so at the end of it you can be like "well, even if i don't like some or most of these, it's still something that i did during a time where i was confused or sort of off, so go me!" yknow? it just kinda proves that despite these inevitable moments, we can keep going and find our way back to the joys of drawing hehe
Thanks for showing the inking process. Fantastic drawing!!❤️I don't draw daily ( it is going to kill me 😂)but I going to start soon for some interesting topic😊😁
You could try drawing animals but with different fashions style, maybe some culture you don't know much about. Like, animals with traditional Chinese clothes? Or even trying sci-fi stuff, like a bear with cybernetic arms??? Idk, just suggestions XD. You could put mythology and mystic stuff as well, maybe a witch bunny, stuff like that :D
Redrawing things doesn't always work because you're already frustrated with the first one. A while back, I was drawing a wolf and wanted to use brush pens on it and give it a watercolour effect. The first drawing was OK, but I messed up with the brush pens and the ink just bled everywhere when I added water to the paper. The second attempt was really patchy and the water made it more difficult to get ink out of the pens. (I thought that they'd dried up, but what was really happening was the water was washing the ink out of the pens and you had to wait for the ink to come out again. Without the water, it just seemed too dark to me. Was not happy with the result at all!) The last one, I did in watercolour pencils. It was better, but I still didn't like it because I felt that the sketch of the original drawn better - it was just a shame that the ink had ruined it.
Hey Jel! I think you’d really like the game Pikmin from Nintendo, it’s full of cute stylized animals and Earth scenery! Maybe it could inspire you a bit to expand on the art like making😄
around the 14 min mark you talk about you being stressed about your art and what you draw, and I say, I love artists who draw what they love. I love when they are happy creating. So if you only want to draw goats cause you LOve their cute horns or what not- ill be happy for you and stick around for it :')
It says it's a Kuretake Fudgeokochi! I decided not to use it because the ink flows really fast and kind of bled on my paper, but I still really like it.

orange pencil with black ink is so Halloween-y and cute :>
Haha thanks, I agree!
Hide is my fav so far, it's so cute and sad at the same time

I really like the style of ink and colorpencil 😍

Even though there were no scarecrows in this video, it made me wanna draw a scarecrow.
Great sharing friend,awesome😃👍☺️....
Very nice! Love the orange with the black
I am, in fact, one of those people that really likes your Slither drawing. Then again, I like snakes. XD But all of them are super cute! The floppy ears one was cute, too!

Remember finished not perfect 🤗
I don't follow the prompts always but I'm trying to be consistent with inktober now, let's see how this year goes...
These all look amazing!!! But I understand that inner critic gets in the way. Also posca has an ivory color that might be what you’re looking for for highlights. Also i love how honest you are about your feelings about the process
I love your Jeltober stuff!!

Do you shaw the work of other people who join in on your prompt list?
11:25 ah yes, an art-istenial crisis
The pen you use at the very beginning is not a fudenosuke, it looks like a refillable brush pen, may I ask what it is?
It says it's a Kuretake Fudgeokochi! I decided not to use it because the ink flows really fast and kind of bled on my paper, but I still really like it.
@@JelArts ahhhhh, I clicked on your affiliate link and it went to a fudenosuke, I was so confused. I need that pen heh
Inktober 0:23
posca pen ivory is kinda off-white
shoot, i thought we were doing frogtober
Second!!!
Happiness and Joy are not the same thing. You can be joyful even if you are sad, if you follow Jesus!
nope, not a bad thing at all to draw the same things over and over
