I'm paraphrasing because I can't remember the exact quote, but it was a long the lines of "the only cure for doubt is action". I think that's part of what this video is about, and I agree.
When doubts sink in that a person can’t make a living creating art, I force myself to remember that art hangs on nearly every single wall of every single home, hotel, restaurant, store, lobby, website and museum on planet Earth (not to mention narrative and entertainment arts). It is by far the most in-demand trade in the world. Of course there is room to make a living creating art. Don’t let the doubtfulness of others skew reality.
Thanks for sharing. It helps me to draw with another artist. We talk about how to improve but also complement each other's strong points. And, I agree, finishing a project, no matter how simple, is encouraging and does improve confidence to keep creating.
Yes that did help. My inner critic has always been a huge mental block for me. I am my worst critic too. I personally struggle with “well if I don’t start, I can’t fail” and end up not moving forward past an idea. I have been working very hard on getting past that. Thank you, this did help with ideas on how I can get out of my own way.
Awesome advice. I an trying really hard not to tell myself "I'm not good enough and never will be" and just go with whatever I do and try to improve. Your videos are giving me lots of inspiration and help in that regard. Thank you
Its really hard sometimes to no feel like you not good enough artist and more with you are w beginner. My GF created a IG account to upload and share my drawings and at first I hesitated and feel nervous about it. But after a while I just start thinking, "just get over yourself, life is short and you should do what you love and it doesn't matter what other thinks". And having my stuff public push me to practice and get better, bo to impress anyone but to see how I evolve as an artist even in my middle age.
I absolutely love this philosophy. Its really helping me. Its powerful stuff. Of course this drawing is totally amazing. Im a huge fan of your art style. But anyway the philosophy is really important and unique please keep it up. I always look forward to your videos. *Jess from Facebook*
Okay I'm back again cuz this is an awesome video but as you said withdrawing and finishing something you got to do the work I was cameraman for wrestling here in Calgary Alberta Canada good old stampede wrestling run by Bruce and rossheart and that's what they always said if you don't put the work in you're not going to know you got to put the work in to know what you know two of the greatest minds and wrestling in Western Canada if not the entire world but yeah put the work in awesome work
I'm more and more convinced that self esteem and believe in yourself is completely optional. The only thing you need to believe in is the thing you draw or the ideas behind it, . You got to stop being self consious when you do anything basically and only focus on the task at hand. ''you'' at that moment don't matter. It's a bit like giving a presentation for a large group of people, people get very nervous because they focus on themselves, ''how do these people percieve ME?'' ''am I not sweating?'' ''maybe they'll notice my stutter'' etc. etc. It's all about you. Stop focussing on you, and focus on the audience instead and the message you want to convey. When you're making art, forget you exist for a while. For you are now merely the vessel for translating the idea into the visual realm. Wether you do this well or poorly is also kind of irrelevant. It's pointless to fuss about your current skill level. How can I turn my idea into something visual to the best of my ability or what can I learn to do my idea more justice.
Okay now I feel silly like most videos I spoke before I finished I should have watched the whole thing You're right because it's when you complete a picture or a statue or a woodworking project as long as you're happy with it you feel complete now if it's not great then you will repeat let you said but when you actually complete something it puts a checkmark in the finish mark or box sorry my bad😅
I learned so much from you. And I thank you for it. You're obviously great. I think you'd be better off creating your own characters and books. Disney and DC aren't worth it. They'll force you to push agendas.
just a heads up..... if you draw on paper, flip it and view it from the bottom. thats a flipped perspective. Self confidence is earned.... which is why telling be to be confident fails. Why are you confident? Because you laid that line down 300 times and know its right. Confidence is basically faith in your ability and over time your skills highlight those abilities.
I love your channel I'm a subscriber I watch as much as possible but then I get to like this weird topic like oh what am I satisfied with my art that becomes your issue not their issue the reason it's your issue is cuz I told my art teacher and grade 12 wait I told her and grade 10 grade 11 grade 12 here in Canada Calgary Alberta you can suggest but you can't teach art it's in the eye of the beholder if they think they did good and you say they did bad then you just ruined their whole mood of why they started it and then you wonder why they're afraid to come back to try something like that you can't teach art you can guide someone you can suggest somethings but in the end it's not your picture it's their picture and it's in the art and the eye of the beholder playing and simple but nobody ever comments back to me if you do thanks I'd be awesome otherwise😢
the moment you think you are crap, the worst talentless shit not worth pursuing art, if you survive it and u don't fall back to your "easy life choices" like playing games etc, is the moment you are making a huge improvement in your artistic journey, or any other mastery you are pursuing.

I've been really struggling with Digital art. I use Krita but I still have a problem with the way I can draw. Any advice for digital art improvement?
