Tower of Power (or TOP for short) is an American R&B-based horn section and band, originating in Oakland, California, that has been performing since 1968.[1] They are best known for their funky soul sound highlighted by a powerful horn section and precisely syncopated bass-guitar lines. There have been several lead vocalists, the most famous being Lenny Williams, who fronted the band between early 1973 and late 1974, the period of their greatest commercial success. Their biggest hits include "You're Still a Young Man", "So Very Hard to Go","Soul With a Capital S", "Soul Vaccination", "What Is Hip?", and "Don't Change Horses (in the Middle of a Stream)."

That was fantastic. You should be so proud. My most favorite music, especially since I'm a bay area girl, hehe old lady now. Tower of Power is absolutely The Best Any day
One of my favorite bands of all time. I discovered TOP on KZAP radio station when I was stationed in Sacramento in ‘68-‘70, when I got home to LA I introduced them to my brother and cousins with my LPs & 8 track tape of them as they were still not that well known in LA yet. I saw them in concert at the Fabulous Forum , they and Buddy Miles were the opening acts for Santana. Buddy Miles stole the show that night.
What a pure treasure to music. RIP Mic. You will always be my favorite TOP alumni.
Working dynamics, volumes, & EVERYTHING!
Thank you for blessing me with your brass as long as I can remember now at 70-years-old!
It's awesome to see the young ones in the back ground
I want this song performed at my funeral. It is the epitomy of what a trumpet player hopes to be able to perform.

I had tongue cancer and as a 60 year trumpet player I was afraid to play again.. This was the first piece I tried to play after the operation and I actually hit the notes. Thanks Mike for reminding me that they were the most famous 4 notes in Rock. I had to try to play again and I CAN. RIP to my inspiration.
