great review.., I think some of the other shoeTubers don’t want to be out there alone and be critical or a shoe if it doesn’t work for them. they should know the shoe companies are fine with that. They make many models of shoes for that reason. great overview.., keep up the good work
The only shoe I can get the full performance out of the design is a pair of sandals but that doesn’t stop me from wearing super shoes. Any pair that gets me excited to go out and run works for me. I enjoy the Alphafly 3 and pretending I’m fast. The Zoom Fly 6 is my current favorite at the moment. Super comfortable and easy on my feet and legs. I say wear whatever gets you out the door.
I concur that some of those elite shoes aren't for me. I didn't even bother trying the AF3 or VF3 mainly because Nike's don't work for me. I tried the Metaspeed Sky Plus and that was too unstable and narrow for me. Right now I'm trying the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3s. I ran in them for the first time this morning and they felt good. They definitely seem wider than the other 3. Nice shadow box by the way! I need to find a place to put mine.
I tried the MSS Paris last spring, you definitely need to be on forefoot on that narrow platform! My mom had the shadow box made for me 20 years ago…man…that sounds weird to say…getting old fast!
I am a heavy runner at 200+lbs. While not a Supershoe, I like running in the Brooks Hyperion Max 2 with its nylon plate. One of the Runtesters in England ran 40 of his 100 mile Ultra in them and has highly recommended them. For a comfort shoe, you can't go wrong with the Asics Novablast. I have run a marathon distance in them. Obviously, on my Christmas list, is its big brother the Superblast 2 also.
I love the Novablast 4, I have had 3 pairs this year. I haven’t tried the HM2, but have you seen the 3? It’s dual density foam with a top layer of peba 😲. It releases in February. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@justjared82 I have seen the HM3 from TRE. It actually releases in July. I'm excited and worried at the same time that it may have changed too much. Also, if you can't wait that long, the new Saucony Endorphin Trainer does come out in March, which will be a similar competitor.
@justjared82 I will off course be buying the Novablast 5 this week, and I can not wait to see Asics new Sonicblast(?) once the embargo has been lifted, which is being described as a Novablast with a plate
@jared loved the weight slide. I knew EK was light but not 115 lbs!! only time in my life when i was 115 lbs was when I got malaria and typhoid and was throwing up nonstop for 12 hrs.
I think the one elite-level racing shoe that might work for a lot of "sub-elite" (😂) runners is the AP3. I'm not even close to midpack and I find them usable, even enjoyable to run in, though I know I'm not capable of getting the most out of them at my current level of fitness. And as the most friendly elite shoe I suspect they probably aren't very good for midfoot to heel strikers because the back of the shoe is somewhat squirrelly, though the fact Lightstrike Pro is a very firm foam relative to foams like ZoomX probably helps a good deal.
@@justjared82 where I'm at currently I really can't justify getting any more top tier racers. I only got the AP3s when they were on ½ price. Plus I have a heart surgery coming up that's going to require significant rehab time. Right now I'm hoping I'll be recovered enough to run a local 5k in the spring and not looking much out beyond that.
@justjared82 I've tried a bunch of different insoles from other shoes, Superfeet, etc, and even trimmed some to get some super shoes, super trainers to feel right. Some trial and error, but worth it for me, since I wanted to (try to) take advantage of the latest tech, not to mention the $ spent already. The Alphafly insoles are glued in, so in case u want to sell them as "original" u can do the insole trials on top of them first.
I have the Asics Metaspeed Edge plus and Sky plus. I stopped using them for long runs because the heel is narrow and I need to concentrate on how I land.. Did my longest run of the year a day ago in the Nimbus 26 (wide). No pains or anything like that after the run.. If I was running a marathon soon I will use the Hoka Cielo X1 or Endorphin Pro 3..
I ran a full in the EP4 and they’re a solid choice for us non-elites…it almost feels more like a supertrainer. Thanks for always watching and giving input, I do appreciate it!
I had a coach once that told me unless you’re running the pace of below three hour marathon like 650 a mile you’re not really gonna see the benefits of a carbon bladed shoe. Now it could be because of a stiffness. I probably that you would do better in one of these same type non-plated a little bit more flexible shoethat’s what I was told and so what you’re saying it all makes sense. Never got it. I’m mostly a travel runner and I try to stay away from the hype so but like I said just what I was told.
right on regarding Elite runners, most of them are at optimum all marathon weight, super low bodyfat and running mostly on forefoot. so yeah, we are not them. Also they have better running economy and form.

For sure, not everyone is going to like every shoe. Thanks for watching and giving insight!
i admire the genuineness of your feedback. i rarely get to hear these on most shoe review nowadays! Hope you reach 1k subs very soon!
Thank you! Thanks for watching and commenting as well.

VP3 indeed very narrow and stiff

The Sonicblast sounds like it may be s good marathon option for me!
@@justjared82 Hyperion Max 2 is fantastic. I’m 6’3” and 187 lbs.
Get this man some subs so I can see him at TRE next year in my hometown
Havent been to San Antonio since basic training…I bet it will be more fun this time!🤣
@jared loved the weight slide. I knew EK was light but not 115 lbs!! only time in my life when i was 115 lbs was when I got malaria and typhoid and was throwing up nonstop for 12 hrs.
Oh man, that sounds rough! Never had the diseases but had the shots and pills!! Yea, 115 passed me in the 4th grade🤭

The AP3 was a good shoe, I set my HM pb in it, I just didn’t think I could tolerate it for the full. Are you going to try the AP4?

Oh wow, well I hope it all goes as planned and you have a quick recovery. Take care of yourself!
@@justjared82 AP4 is coming out? Do we know when?
For us ordinary folks it comes out in January
Nice vid.
I've taken odd-fitting shoes and tinkered w different insoles to get them to be comfortable.
I wonder if there are insoles out there that would fit in the AF3…do you know?

Right on, thanks for the insight. I have them for sale now but if they don’t sell I might try the insoles.
3:50 hahahahhaaha @ the snapshots of Olympic marathoner bods
They just built different

I definitely believe that. I really think I could have shaved 3-7 minutes off my last marathon if I would have gone with comfort instead of “hype”!

For sure…and they get to do it for a living (I’m jealous)
I’ll be running my first Marathon in Champaign!
That’s awesome! You have a goal in mind or just looking to have fun?…or both
@ hoping to get down to 3:30
I hope you get there👊🏼. Plenty of time to train, my block starts the week of Christmas. Keep me posted on how it’s going
