You need to check its balance, it should balance level while holding its wing tips, then should also balance along the centre line, or else you will get control problems. As for launching downwind, that's a bad idea, same as launching towards a large tree.

Shaun Day actually something that would help quite a bit. The drag at higher speeds is hurting track times. Something like a fiberglass body/pieces like funny cars would help.
Aero? Leroy doesnt know the meaning of the word "aero". He reached the 7's no problem without it. But he might need some if he is gonna reach the 6's (maybe a 1 piece custom funny car body, that way its hinged at the rear of the car and it can be easily removable for car shows and such)

All else being equal (weight, temperature, etc.) a plane will takeoffat the same indicated airspeed with a headwind as it does if there is a tailwind, or no wind.

To explain a little bit about turbskies and exhaust housings. Exhaust housing make the rpm range that the turbos hit peak efficiency, he's putting on slightly larger housing to move more air thru them it also slows the pressure down slightly (bigger pipe same flow less movement and "pressure") so what he's doing is trading away lower rpm peak power for slightly higher power at higher rpm. it might not change the power at all but it'll move it up the power range a little bit upwards how far wont be known till the dyno tuning. As for the heads.. Turbo motors like na style heads with good exhaust ports.. where as belt driven superchargers like bigger intake ports and more normal exhaust side. Nitrous engines are fine with medium intakes but need the exhaust to move the volume. I'm predicting at a educated guess that if he is limited to 7200 rpm and peak is around 6600 the peak will move up to the 6800/7000 range and he'll have to raise the limiter to get the extra rpm the motors going to need for peak shifting rpm. Your transmission drops your rpm between shifts to allow the engine to accelerate thru the rev range.. the ideal is to drop rpm to just below your leak torque number to gain maximum accelerating torque. So using an example a 6600 peak hp and a 5000 peak torque is a 1600 rpm drop if you shift at 7200 and your transmission gives a 2000 split in shifting it'll drop shift rpm into the higher gear to 5200 a little to high but acceptable. if he raises the peak hp and torque values it changes where the split occurs, it's a balancing act as he needs the extra over-run to make power longer for a better pull thru the gears. Generally without changing the cam the peak rpm torque occurs at doesn't change, just adding boost things like bigger heads different exhaust housing intake runner length etc change peak torque rpm but given the same intake and head runners length it'll be about the same maybe a little higher rpm with the larger exhaust housing. Overall the housing isn't a big change other then where the hp peak occurs and how the power is applied higher in the rpm range. Food for thought, but till he can consistently launch the car *dead tires in this case and a tranny not built for this* the car just wont get any faster. One thing is if he hasn't changed tires the launch power will be down a bit at lower rpm because of the slower exhaust tuning but it'll pick up harder once it gets to higher rpm. The thing is that isn't a 7 second car... yet. He has a few things to work out 1 is his shifting, 2 is launch consistency which he is learning.. 3 is he doesn't have enough power, now his new heads might make more power.. maybe.. it depends on how tapped out the current turbo setup is and if he's only getting 18psi at peak now he's not going to make more power with a 64mm impeller with bigger heads.His turbos are getting close to maxed out. and just wont move a lot more air. I'm predicting he needs around 2-300 more hp to get into the 7's he really needs to be trapping at 175ish to really get there and he's 168's. Garrett you are going to need more power and as long as your heads move it 70-72's will get you there the 64mm intake is not going to move enough air for the 1500ish hp you need. It's basic physics and airflow and stuff if your turbos are in the 80% range now and you are only making 18psi boost, you need bigger turbos at least on the intake side. Bigger heads will only make your issues worse. You are running the equivalent to the small block power adder class in the hotrod drag week as a engine and almost none of them can run 7's a couple but not many as seen at the shootout and most of them run similar combos to you and similar turbos it's gonna take more air thru the motor, now comes the hard part of that balancing act. Gonna predict lower boost levels and the same hp at maybe slightly higher rpm. If your turbos are tapped out now. With the head change.
