What happened to missing your turn? Apparently you can't do that these days, instead you've got to cut across 3 lanes in traffic because fuck everyone else.
5:45 blaming it on the learner lol, why don't people understand to have a safe following distance. Anything could happen on the road, be ready to stop.
+Faunus Funklebrot True, but we don't know why the l plater braked. If the L plated braked for no reason or for malice purposes(ie brake testing) then I would say some negligence falls upon the l plater.
Did you not see the huge arrows painted on the road? They were in a merging lane and the Learner Driver was trying to move across into slow-moving traffic. It's not their fault the truck driver wasn't paying attention to what was up ahead.
4:20 - someone in close vicinity is honking at me, shall I: A: brake B: Keep changing lanes despite the car honking warning me of an imminent collision and to top it off, move back to my original lane moments later, thus making everyone wonder why the fuck I needed to change lanes to begin with C: Take note of where the honking is coming from and think why they are honking. I can see now I should stop changing lanes because I'm about to hit them Note to car with trailer - B is the wrong answer
What I've learned from this channel is that half of the population of Australia feels the normal desire to drive on the right. The government should just legalize it so that the other, sane half of the population also drives on the right.
A week ago I was waiting at a set of traffic lights ( as a pedestrian) . While I was waiting, one car was waiting to turn right but he was indicating left. Right after that on the opposite side of the road, a car turned right when it was a "no right turn buses excepted" lane.
The majority people are fine with Learner Drivers making mistakes or driving slowly. We've all been there. It's people who already have their full licence doing stupid things, that we find really annoying.
Foxtrot369 Thank you for your message! I've done some stupid things already that I'm pretty embarrassed about. But only with practise I'll get better. :'D
maddiJean12, honestly, watching these sorts of videos will be a good education for you. A lot of accidents are caused by people who don't take driving as seriously as they ought to. If you know how badly things can turn out, you will take more care. They should get everyone to watch these videos IMO. I hope your driving is going well.
+FuZZy961 personally i dont have a screaming banshee horn installed but if i did i would use it in the correct manner because they are setup in a specific way.
+Mouse Mystery So did I, the scooters had to pass the same test. It was easier to perform certain manoeuvres on a scooter but the test itself was the same.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the white Kia Sorento in the first clip. He was paying attention & got the fuck out of that trucks way in plenty of time.
That first one with the white car on the right and bus on the left, that's here in Adelaide, North Tce/Payneham Rd/Magil Rd for those wondering. That turn lane is notorious for people trying to either cheat or being ignorant to the myriad of signage stating its a right turn lane.
I can't help feeling that a number of crashes (not necessarily in this video, but defo on a lot of your old ones) are made worse by automatic transmissions. they make it tricky or impossible to exploit engine braking while downshifting, and reduce the stopping distance by a lot, also the speed at impact.
4:20... that one too. I'm all for posting the "look at this knob who pulled in front of me" but the videos where the driver actively goes after the person who made the mistake. What's with that?
5:45 I know he's a learner, but it shows you why a safe following distance (From DDS TV) is important. If something is about to happen, get ready for a stop.
CPPCrispy 'Provisional' licence plates, they are shown on the front and rear of the car, it indicates that the driver of the vehicle is still learning to drive on their own. In most states they are shown for 2 years before you get your regular drivers licence. :)
Probationary licence plates or ‘P plates’ red plates for one year after you pass your licence test and then green plates for 3 years (this is in Victoria Australia)
3:14 was the driver's fault. It's ILLEGAL to pass a tram that's standing at a stop letting off passengers--for the very reason you see here. Because you'll fucking kill someone if you do. Even in a safety zone, you have to SLOW DOWN to a speed safe for pedestrians. This person was speeding.
That 4WD going across Parramatta Road onto the M4 about 2:15 is one of the best I've seen yet. Karma: He would have been going face first into stopped traffic around the corner anyway.
This was me driving, yes drivers should do that when there is NOT a safety zone type stop. In this situation there is a safety zone tram stop so I didn't do anything wrong. Watch the vicroads video on passing or overtaking trams.
It's one thing to cut someone off without doing a head-check or run a red light, but if you speed right up the arse of the person who did it just so you can yell obscenities at them and make a point of it you're just as stupid as they are. If they're dumb enough to do whatever it is that pissed you off, then you yelling at them about it probably isn't going to be enough to make them act any differently. Driving dangerously so you can point out someone else's dangerous driving is stupidest thing you can do.
I can't let my grandson watch these, then he told me he hears the same language from his mother, grandma and when I finally stopped laughing, he said you too grandad! Oops, well it saves me wanting to punch someone out I suppose.

@ 5:00 This is why I spent 4 months in Australia and never did drive. I was kinda scared I would revert back to my USA driving and find myself on the wrong side of the street and very confused. AS Clint would say, "A man has just got to know his limitations".
Naaw sure you would be alright, there are always signs telling people which lane to be in for this reason (keep left signs - at intersections, etc) and you would get the hang of it pretty quickly.
Travis Park I am not very young and things are ingrained. A moment's loss and someone might be seriously hurt (or killed). I would rather not have that on my conscious. But I was always thinking I could do it. Was really hard not to drive when I am so used to doing it. I think if I were heading really deep into the outback with someone and spelled them for a while I would have been fine. But not inter-urban. I did not drive in Japan, either, and I do not think ANYONE should drive in Hong Kong. :) Cheers to you.
Years ago, had a Canadian friend drop me off at a friend's place and we got to the main road....he instinctively pulled out on to the right hand side and into on coming traffic. Scared the fuck out of both of us.
SHIFTIBOI So you are a "Been there, Done that, do not have to do it again" type of person.... I am a "seen tat, learned the lesson, do not have to do it myself" type person. Thanks for the post (and the understanding)... Cheers.
it's never a good idea to yell at another driver on the road because you don't know what sort of day he or she might of had and by yelling at them, you tip them over the edge.

A lot of dash cam owners think it is up to them to police the streets.
I agree some of the reactions are worse than what starts the whole thing
well, the police sure aren't.
Yeah I don't understand why he bothered buying a dash cam if he's still gonna drive like a complete idiot regardless of being filmed
what kind of plonker runs a red light, then just stops in the middle of the intersection?
The kind of plonker who doesn't really know what's going on and then panics when reality hits.
The kind that thought it was a green light. The sort that doesn't deserve hatred.

That's not always the case.

They've been practicing since GTA 4 came out back in 2008
this aged surprisingly well.
5:25 honestly scared the shit out of me
I was sitting close trying to see if the dude in front did something dumb.
Effective jump scare.
6:05 if only there were some lines on the road to guide drivers where to go

Its funny to watch all the "Sheeple" follow each other through the red lights. Genius driving skills.
These are never long enough :-)
3:45 both rear corners of the ute are already dented... so definitely not the first little prang like that he's had.

It's too easy to get a scooter license.
+Mouse Mystery it's the same as a motorbike licence, at least in NSW
I did the test in NSW, it's far easier on a scooter for both Ls and P1.
+Mouse Mystery
So did I, the scooters had to pass the same test. It was easier to perform certain manoeuvres on a scooter but the test itself was the same.
Same test, but they are easier to manoeuvre and have no gears which make it more appealing to people who have no idea how to ride safely.
5:29 fuck that scared me

Amazing incompetence & stupidity. Makes me shudder that I'm sharing the road with these folk. Good luck to all.
Samuel Szmajda i was thinking the same, until I caused an accident myself.
I know only the best clips make it thru editing but it's starting to look like Russia over there

As a new viewer of the channel, what's up with the big antennas on the hood?
They're offroad vehicles so its probably something to do with that
they are for two way radios. lots of people / companies get them installed on their 4x4s
CB/UHF radio probably. Either that or they just really like antennas.
As Mailer said, UHF / CB radio in most cases. I also have one on my car that is a phone antenna for when I'm out bush.
Most likely UHF antennas for two-way radios so vehicles can communicate with each other or there is no phone reception.
What does the "P" stand for? Its on the back of some of the cars.
CPPCrispy 'Provisional' licence plates, they are shown on the front and rear of the car, it indicates that the driver of the vehicle is still learning to drive on their own. In most states they are shown for 2 years before you get your regular drivers licence. :)
