  • After an enjoyable afternoon at Axe Valley Wildlife Park, we decided to make the most of the glorious weather and extended opening hours, and took a 50 minute drive to Teignmouth to visit one of the smallest zoos in the UK - Shaldon Wildlife Trust. Set in 1 acre of woodland, it's a really nice zoo, with lost of small animals, from meerkats to small primates to small cat species, it has a nice varied collection.
We were lucky enough to get there for feeding time of the Owston's Palm Civet (4pm in usual times), as we had only seen this animal curled up asleep in the two other collection we have seen them at. What an amazing animal, and definitely worth seeing up close (There's some of footage of their wonderful male in the video).
The setting of the zoo makes it well worth visiting, along with the nocturnal house, housing two species of loris. A great, but short visit, I would highly recommend this collection to anyone, but pair it up with Axe Valley to make it a full day's zoo experience!

    Thanks for watching!
