If you haven't seen the show then you're definitely in for a treat. It's a super entertaining and feel good show. And while a little bit long for today's anime standards, I believe that you won't regret watching it haha.

GGG did more than a mainstay. Following 30 they might as well have admitted the Holy Trinity is now a Holy Quadrinity with the sheer amount of hype, respect, and fanservice they gave to Braves (and especially GaoGaiGar).
Gaogaigar is the only mecha series aside from Gurren Lagann that I can genuinely recommend to to people. It's a great time through and through and the action gets the testosterone running lmao. The HD Blu-ray set went up for pre-order in the USA last month, don't miss out!
I encountered GaoGaiGar first through Super Robot Wars W for the DS; and now I'm here, watching the show on my own time and just, loudly singing along to the opening And each time I attack with GaoGaiGar ingame, I just start shouting "GA-GA-GA, GA-GA-GA, GAO-GAI-GAR!"
My favorite mecha of all time, as well as my favorite anime of all time. And the fight between Guy and Palparepa in the final episode is my favorite beatdown in anime history, the savagery of Genesic was so glorious, and thats BEFORE the Crusher came out.
They sent the gift of the future home while they would stay behind to find a different way home that they could use. They would find that way but that is a story to be read online instead of experienced on screen
I watched it in the early 2000's I absolutely loved, it's smart yet hilarious and the characters play is straight the whole time. I hope how they mastered the art of gripping suspense and snatching the victory to a whole other level. I loved all the designs and logic they put into the mech designs both silly and serious has.
Yeah, it's an amazing show that has a very tight pacing with a superb worldbuilding that, even though it's absolutely ridiculous, it works within its context. And yes, the designs are amazing, specially towards the second "season".
I've about Gaogaigar during the late 90's though I never got to watch it back then (I don't think anyone has subbed it back then) until the early 2000's. I really enjoyed it and later followed it up with Gaogaigar Final. Yes, I too love the design for Genesic Gaogaigar that I managed to get the it's Super Robot Chogokin toy back then. If you're going for some Braves, I suggest look into Brave Police J-Decker. It's a fun show. For non-Brave stuff, go for series like Gunbuster, Godannar, Gravion, Reideen (70's original), Dancouga, Combatller V, Voltes V, Kotetsu Shin Jeeg.
The Brave Series had a planned 11th series called Yuusha Seisen Baan Gaan (Saint of Braves Baan Gaan) which was SUPPOSED to become an anime, but instead got canceled, but became a video game instead, donning the name Brave Saga I cannot say this enough, but GaoGaiGar influenced the design of Optimus Prime from the anime Transformers Cybertron/Galaxy Force of 2005-06 in fact, one of my fanfic plans has Galaxy Convoy/Optimus Prime become a 10th yuusha/brave member (9th being Baan Gaan) in a similar fashion to the JLA
This show reignited my passion for mecha anime, Super Robots especially. I still can't get over that godly theme song I even have my own mecha series heavily inspired by GaoGaiGar with a little bit of other shows i love
As a resident of the UK with access to almost nothing but terrestrial TV while this was on, I had no idea it even existed. Then, last year Super Robot Wars 30 came out, with GaoGuyGar, GaoFighGar, and GaoGuyGo in it, along with King J-Der and Genesic GaoGuyGar. Sadly no robot fighters beside Goldion, but I was intrigued with that. So I watched the show. And... yeah. I could not stop watching until the very end. Hooked. On a side note, I got my hand on the RG GaoGuyGar kit just this week and, as someone who loves gunpla, I was very delighted to find out that all the Gao machines can be had seperate from GuyGar if you so wish. Or combined. They transform!
I haven’t seen GaoGaiGar, but I recommend Voltes V for Super Robot anime. It’s probably the best pre-Gundam mecha show I’ve seen. It’s directed by the guy who directed Rose of Versailles and produced by Tomino.
If you are still looking for Super Robot series to check out, my first thoughts are toward oddballs in that genre. Specifically, GFun X Sword (which is surprisingly down to earth despite having super robots), DaiGuard (what if we had a Super Robot story but only a Real Robot to fight the monsters?), and DanGaiOh.
i really want to see them Animate the Sequal of GaoGaiGar the King of Kings GaoGaiGar vs Betterman which actually has its story explored in SRW 30 it deserves a anime adaptation. also i Highly recommend checking out the Super Robot Wars OG Animes ive watched some of one of them and its really good cause its all original story and mechs

You should check out the 'prequel' of sorts called Betterman. It's more of a horror/kaiju series with a back story on par with Evangelion. One of the supporting characters became a supporting character in Gaogaigar, and the two leads appeared in Final. While not an actual mecha series, it is part of Gaogaigar, and a tangential part of the Yuusha series. Betterman actually aired on G4's anime block in the early 00s, so there is a dub floating around. Finally, there's a manga that ties the two series together, and has been partially scanlated.

I have always said, GaoGaiGar is what happens when you take a Real Robo level of detailing to a Super Robot design. And when it does finally go full Super because it's no longer using any 'earth' designs (Genesic), you know shit's going to go down.
I especially love the progression of GaoGaiGar in terms of tech and meaning. Little spoilery, so beware. OG GaoGaiGar was developed based on data extracted from Galeon's databanks, which also lead to the development of the rest of the 3G'S arsenal and the self-aware Super Mechanoids. Aside from Galeon, it was all Earth-Tech, though. OG GaoGaiGar was the classic Defender of Earth. GaoFighGar was a result from a need for a new King of Braves after Galeon left Earth for the Trinary Star System and as such, pure Earth-Tech (and his Final Fusion Program was written by a genius 5-year old, to boot!). Though he lacked Galeon, GaoFighGar is in fact stronger than the OG GaoGaiGar. Then we have Genesic GaoGaiGar, the complete, original form of GaoGaiGar, preserved within the gargantuan G-Crystal, designed by Cain of the Green Planet, the strongest King of Destruction. Genesic, as in, a New Beginning, for that is what comes after Destruction. Then, in the novel sequel, we get Final GaoGaiGar, Genesic GaoGaiGar repaired after his stint as a Destroyer being controlled by Triple Zero. Now bereft of the Genesic Machines' AI, Final GaoGaiGar is piloted not only by Gai, but Mamoru, Kaido, Mikoto, Renais, as well as Betterman's Keita and Hinoki, each piloting one of the Genesic Machines (which includes Galeon). With each Genesic Machine being piloted by a different Pilot, Gai can focus on the fight, while his friends handle the gadgets and weapons. That, paired with fact that Final GaoGaiGar is piloted not by one, but SEVEN pilots, means that while pretty much everything from Genesic is carried over, Final GaoGaiGar is MUCH more powerful, since he draws on seven times the the Courage that Genesic had at his disposal. The name says it all, while Genesic was a New Beginning, Final GaoGaiGar is the one who will end the confilict Earth finds itself in.
Don’t forget Goldion Armor/Finger, where GoldyMarg uses Final’s massive coruage to reach the zenith of his destructive power and becomes able to blitz the ultimate Betterman.
You've probably seen it at this point, but Gunbuster and Diebuster. Preferably, let some time pass before consuming Diebuster for maximum effect. I will always recommend Gunbuster to anyone even if they aren't a Mecha fan.
There's a novel that concludes both series and shows what happened to the characters after their stories came to an end on screen. That novel was adapted into Super Robot Wars 30 actually.

Y'know, people always talk big about Gurren Lagann, but I watched the movie compilation and it didn't quite grab me. It just didn't feel quite right compared to other mecha anime I had watched before that, namely this in particular. I will have to give the T.V. series a shot at some point to give that a fair shake, but I'm not sure how much my opinion will change, since my expectations were set much higher by the way that people talked about it. GaoGaiGar is 100% one of my favorite anime ever. I watched clips of it as a child, and then rewatched it fully twice, most recently in 2021, which only affirmed my stance on that. Gai stands as my second favorite protagonist ever, only surpassed by Haku from the Utawarerumono games. I genuinely only have one complaint, and that's the fact that the Zonders give me epilepsy in every episode that they show them off in their lair. I've got to get around to the rest of the Brave series at some point. If this anime is anything to base the quality of the rest of the series on, I think that they'll also be at least almost as good as this is. Also, if you like this, you might find Betterman to be an interesting contrast to this, since it's actually set in the main universe. It also makes some scenes in Final make slightly more sense, like what was going on with Mikoto in the last episode. The T.V. rerelease of Final, Grand Glorious Gathering, also does add more scenes featuring more characters and references to Betterman. I do also hope that the sequel manga featuring both of those series turns out for the better, considering that I think that the ending of Final was very self-evidently final. Too bad that the English translations for it are taking time to come out. Oh, also, give Nobuyiki Hiyama more shonen protagonist roles. No one does it like he does.
Mis recomendaciones de animes super robot serían rahxephon, zeorymer y Dancouga. Quizás no son al nivel de Gaogaigar en mi opinión pero si son muy buenos y sus mechas son muy únicos y interesantes. Algo que si me encantaría recomendarte es Heroic Age aunque no es un anime mecha pienso que es algo que te gustaría bastante sobretodo por la raza llamada tribu heroica, anime espacial muy épico.
With editing for the epilepsy scenes definitely, even got a half done dub with very recognizable voices from New York like Dan green and Michael sinterniklaas even Veronica Taylor
absa if you ever do get your hands on the rg kit just be careful with the combined form hands as the are very fragile old style rg/pg super articulated hands with severe e.r.g.s. (early real grade syndrome) i speak from experience here as the left wrist snapped on mine soon after finishing the build.
Thanks for the info, I'll definitely have that in mind once I get the kit. I have built a couple of early rg's and they're almost impossible to pose nowadays (the zeta has been in waverider mode forever haha).

I did read about that show, yet I was so hyped by the ending of FINAL that I wanted to talk about it even before watching Betterman and reading the (incomplete) GGG vs Betterman.
One of the greatest if you ask me haha, I was not expecting to do any kind of video for this series and now, even though I talked about it briefly, I want to analyze the mechanical design of GaoGaiGar and Genesic GaoGaiGar haha.
I actually saw the newest Getter Robo Arc but, while I liked it for its sheer madness, I think that I missed a lot of the depth of the story since I watched very few episodes of other Getter shows.
I'll definitely check Ideon once I finish with Tomino's Gundam; right now I'm writing about Turn A and after that I'll check out G-Reco. But yeah, as a fan of Tomino's work, Ideon is a must.
my Favourite thing of the show, well let me tell you after Watching VLD (Voltron Legendary Defender) by Netflixer after finishing it i was depressed not because the show is Great or even good or ok fine, it's because the show was, GARBAGE............, i need something to cleanse my mouth and brain from that garbage and did a mecha week long watch i finish it of by Gurren Laggan the movies & Gao Gai Gar final, i have watch this show many time but it's different because no only was Covid lockdown, because that garbage was in my system and after watching Final the emotions got me and crying like the baby, it's Night and day between garbage by Netflixer and made form Japan anime mecha. 🤘🏻👍🏻🤣

Mis recomendaciones de animes super robot serían rahxephon, zeorymer y Dancouga. Quizás no son al nivel de Gaogaigar en mi opinión pero si son muy buenos y sus mechas son muy únicos y interesantes. Algo que si me encantaría recomendarte es Heroic Age aunque no es un anime mecha pienso que es algo que te gustaría bastante sobretodo por la raza llamada tribu heroica, anime espacial muy épico.
I know im a little late, but a "serious" and more realistic super robot show that is short and veeeery good is Gunbuster, highly recomended.

With editing for the epilepsy scenes definitely, even got a half done dub with very recognizable voices from New York like Dan green and Michael sinterniklaas even Veronica Taylor

absa if you ever do get your hands on the rg kit just be careful with the combined form hands as the are very fragile old style rg/pg super articulated hands with severe e.r.g.s. (early real grade syndrome) i speak from experience here as the left wrist snapped on mine soon after finishing the build.
Thanks for the info, I'll definitely have that in mind once I get the kit. I have built a couple of early rg's and they're almost impossible to pose nowadays (the zeta has been in waverider mode forever haha).

I did read about that show, yet I was so hyped by the ending of FINAL that I wanted to talk about it even before watching Betterman and reading the (incomplete) GGG vs Betterman.
Great video man! Try out Mazinkaiser or Shin Mazinger Z, they are great modernizations of a classic.
Also Getter Robo Arc, might not have the best production but the passion for the source material is there

One of the greatest if you ask me haha, I was not expecting to do any kind of video for this series and now, even though I talked about it briefly, I want to analyze the mechanical design of GaoGaiGar and Genesic GaoGaiGar haha.
The human in me likes GaoFighGar more (because it's the only one completely made on earth XD), But Genesic is beyond anything.
Getter robo & mazinger are my go to recommendations for Super robo. If you need a entry point for getter start with the early 2000s new getter robo
I actually saw the newest Getter Robo Arc but, while I liked it for its sheer madness, I think that I missed a lot of the depth of the story since I watched very few episodes of other Getter shows.

my Favourite thing of the show, well let me tell you after Watching VLD (Voltron Legendary Defender) by Netflixer after finishing it i was depressed not because the show is Great or even good or ok fine, it's because the show was, GARBAGE............, i need something to cleanse my mouth and brain from that garbage and did a mecha week long watch i finish it of by Gurren Laggan the movies & Gao Gai Gar final, i have watch this show many time but it's different because no only was Covid lockdown, because that garbage was in my system and after watching Final the emotions got me and crying like the baby, it's Night and day between garbage by Netflixer and made form Japan anime mecha. 🤘🏻👍🏻🤣
