    Helpful video, thank you. For non-mechanical people such as myself, it would be even more helpful if all steps showing how you fish the cable through were shown. Thanks again!

    Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower ruclips.net/user/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.

    Thanks for the video. The part in your description ended up being the fastest to deliver and the cheapest of all the other options I sifted through before watching the video.

    I just did one of these deck cables...mine was broken and I rebuilt my old cable. I know these are under 10 bucks right now on ebay, but I didn't want to wait for the shipping. So my local hardware store has a spool of the same inner cable they sell by the foot and I simply pulled out the rust broken cable and installed the new cable. I leaded the ends to make a ball for the plastic adapter to connect to the engagement handle on the top end and spring on the deck. Works like new now. This is the kind of silly things a person does when he has too much time on his hands.

    Love the channel. I just got a 03 craftsman i believe an lt1000, same 15.5 hp briggs, same shifter setup like Maine mudd mower. Doing electrical troubleshooting, and I have to replace this cable and free up the engagement on the deck. Your videos are helping me out quite a bit

    Good video, gave me all info i needed to replace cable during deck removal and free up engagement pulleys. 17 year old LT2000 never needed any repairs till sliding pulley jammed up thus I broke cable trying to engage blades. Cable was rusty and that's what was jamming with rusty/dirty plates! Changing Oil and filter at least once season. Tough Craftsman mower! Thanks for the info!

    Thanks. Helped me do it. But I have a question. It takes a lot more oomph to engage the blades, so the old spring must have stretched. But it still doesn't engage right away, I have to drive it maybe 100 feet or a minute or so. New belt. anything else needing to be replaced?

    Great video. I have the coil spring thing that was somewhere on the engagement handle that popped of. I assume that it's a tension clip. I have no idea where it goes. I do know you didn't lose a spring, but I'm a pro when it comes to losing screws and stuff

    I thought the spring goes in the little hole in the lever that breaks the pulley? It goes above the pulley? I have a old poulan pro.

    Where do I get this cable

  • @jr82sporty
    @jr82sporty 3 года назад +3

    In the beginning way too much work you do not have to disconnect the engagement lever just squeeze the two plastic tabs together pull down on the cable and the cable will come out when you use the finger to pull up on the plastic end of the cable to get it off the nub

      I had the same issue after replacing the cable! I'm wondering if I routed the cable through the incorrect path from the engagement lever back to the pulley. After I saw in this video and noticed that he was routing the cable along side the solenoid cable through the back of the firewall I'm starting to wonder if that's where it should go. Too many turns in the cable results in more resistance when trying to engage. My mower I think is a 1994 so it could be different than yours. Good luck!

      @@TheChamberWebsiteGuy I took the deck off again, 2nd time after first replacing spindles and pulleys, the belt and the blades. I didn't check the first time if the engagement pulley would slide up and down. Saw some other videos and sanded/grinded the spacer (looks like a washer), washer that goes underneath that and where you push the bolt through and also the deck where the cable engagement pulled sits on top of as some guys say that needs to be smooth. I greased it, put it all back together and it now finally works. You might need to take off your deck and see in the pulley the engagement cable sits on can move freely when you pull and push it back. On yeah, and additionally there was NO return spring which I had to order.
      Take good photos so you can more easily put it together. I took photos but they turned out not so great so I couldn't figure it out easily and had to watch 2, 3 different YT videos to figure out where and how all the parts go back.
