- The 2013 Quiksilver Pro France champion Mick Fanning took out Brazil's Gabriel Medina in the Final to take the title and the lead in the ASP World Title Race.
Some of the biggest airs and perfect rides seen in contests this year were thrown down on the Finals day as a result of the epic heat draws. Fanning consecutively outsurfed Hawaiian phenomenon John John Florence and Joel Parkinson on his way to the final, where he found himself backed up against the wall against Medina. The two-time World Champ stuck to his game plan though. Mick attacked a bumpy righthander with all his power to scalp an 8.83 and as a result stole the show.

I watched this from the beach. I was expecting Medina to win as it was onshore air conditions, but Mick deserved it with his last wave. It wasn't that it was an amazing wave - it was a really difficult wave, and Mick surfed it amazingly well.
Gabriel rode the Semis amazingly well, but wasn't really on fire in the final, he was tired.
There's no doubt medina should have won. If you look closer at Medina's 8.50, it is definitely a better wave than Micks overscored 8.83. That massive full rotation (that only a handful of guy's on tour can do) is worth a 9++ score alone. I find the Australians tend to get overscored on tour

Im brazilian but to beat the two times world champ take a lot of surfing, medina did well but in the final mick did it all. Congrats!

No... I was wrong. The wave 3:12 - 3:23 was 6.17 point. The judgment was worse than i thought.
Essa bateria medina ganhou e com margem de mais de um ponto acima. Pena que os juízes viram o contrário. Mas quem assistiu viu como não foi justa a vitória de Mick.
Q Isso cara medina com aereos ai dois com ondas perfeitas e o cara com uma simples onda nota maior se sabe que ruim isso jurados comprados talves nunca se sabe né !

Até quando os brasileiros terão suas notas minimizadas no circuito mundial? Que o Australiano é um grande surfista, ninguém duvida, mas que o Medina nesta bateria surfou melhor, muito mais agressivo, não restou dúvida . Uma pena que só os juízes da ASP não enxergam. E permanece a pergunta. Até quando?

Mick surfed perfect all heats ..but not the final..he's one of the best but he loss this one...but Im agree..about stole the show.. or was ASP judges?
